The omelette came with the wrong meat and on the inside. The waiter did not return for a very long time to check in as he had switched to bar service for a little while. I ended up just eating what was served because it had already taken so long to get our food and no one was checking on us. When the bill came we paid it with a card and when it was brought there was a 3% charge for credit card (I know a lot of places have started doing this but it should be shared with patrons before they pay). Again, they also over charged for the discounted item. We did just pay and go because we had someplace to be and we were already late because everything g took so long. This was our 3rd try at the Syndicate and we just haven't been impressed with anything but the vibe. The vibe is the best thing about it. The food has always been mid and over priced at best. Sad - we really want to love it and have a nice brunch location for weekends.

We ordered our drinks, our server checked our IDs, walked away, then came back and asked for them again. She was gone with them for 5-10 mins before letting us know that because of "reasonable doubt" and things that have been going on, she couldn't serve us. As a bartender, I completely understand she doesn't need to give a reason - it just sucks to be left confused. On the way out, we asked another employee if she could explain why we were denied. She said because of "reasonable doubt," and also because we had "REV" on the back of both of our Illinois licenses which she said meant they were revoked on 09/17/2015. At that time I would've been 11 and my boyfriend was 14... so obviously that doesn't make any sense. She even said to me, "You wouldn't have even been driving then," which is true and makes it even more confusing. I understand the businesses on the lake have to be strict, but what was absurd was the explanation about the "REV" code. If you just Google it, the AI overview says it means revoked, but if you actually look at the Illinois Secretary of State website and/or call them (which I did), it means revised. My dad & brother are cops in Illinois so when I called after we left to ask them, they even verified that for me because I obviously wouldn't have a valid license or even one in my possession... if it had actually been revoked a cop would've taken it away, they don't deal out revoked IDs, AND they don't put that on a license - only way to find out is through the police computer system. But, the most ironic part is that last night, I was there with a group of 12 people, had my ID checked, was served with no issues, and had an amazing time watching the live band. That's what made today's experience surprising and disappointing, and that's why I'm giving 2 stars.

As a lifelong Ohio State fan, walking into this place felt less like lunch and more like stepping straight into Buckeye Heaven. Every inch of the diner is drenched in scarlet and gray pride--autographed photos, jerseys worn by real players, helmets, and memorabilia that makes you want to stand up and belt out "Carmen Ohio." I knew before even cracking the menu: I was home. Our server, Grace, was all smiles and Buckeye spirit. She gave us the rundown--Woody's has been serving up Buckeye-influenced eats for about 15 years. And it shows. The burgers aren't just burgers here--they're tributes, each named after coaches, players, or football legends. Picking one felt like draft day. Grace recommended the Dustin Burger, named after former Buckeye great Dustin Fox. Now, I'll admit--when I heard "peanut butter on a burger," my first reaction was the same as when Michigan wins a game: complete disbelief. But I trusted Grace. And let me tell you... this was no trick play. This half-pound beauty came stacked with peanut butter, crispy bacon, cheddar cheese, and a fried egg. It sounds strange, but somehow the combo worked like a perfectly executed Flea Flicker. The bun was grilled, the burger cooked to a juicy medium rare, and by the second bite I needed a stack of napkins big enough to block a defensive line.
