We were sat quickly and the wait staff was friendly. It took over an hour to get our food. The chicken and waffles my son ordered was a decent size (but they charged to full price when it was supposed to be one of the featured discounted items), the burrito was an ok size for the price. The "fluffy" omelette was very small and way over cooked. It was very salty and didn't match the description on the menu. The way the menu read it had a listed set of veggie ingredients and then a choice of protein. The way the menu described, the meat would be served with the omelette (it sounded like along side. The omelette came with the wrong meat and on the inside. The waiter did not return for a very long time to check in as he had switched to bar service for a little while. I ended up just eating what was served because it had already taken so long to get our food and no one was checking on us. When the bill came we paid it with a card and when it was brought there was a 3% charge for credit card (I know a lot of places have started doing this but it should be shared with patrons before they pay). Again, they also over charged for the discounted item. We did just pay and go because we had someplace to be and we were already late because everything g took so long. This was our 3rd try at the Syndicate and we just haven't been impressed with anything but the vibe. The vibe is the best thing about it. The food has always been mid and over priced at best. We arrived during the Pineapple Festival. We just moved to the area and know nothing about Bellfontaine. I get it's busy. We walked in. No reservations. Didn't know they took them. Because we had no reservations we were asked to sit at the bar or outside along the bar/window. Fine, we opted for the outdoor bar/window. We waited 15 mins for a server to come. We received no napkins or silverware. Had to ask for those. My husband was drinking water and they brought the pitcher of water to us. No glass for him. Had to ask for a glass. I was asked if I wanted a refill on my Pepsi. Sure, the waitress asked for my glass and it was literally 10 mins later before she returned with my refill. I knew we should have walked out when we were not acknowledged for 15 minutes. Our food arrived it was fine nothing spectacular. A manager came to our table asked how things were. We are not looking for free or discounted items so we told her it was fine and she gathered our plates and said she would get our check. 5 mins later we receive the check. Took the waitress another 10 mins to return to take the check so she could run our card. This resulted in a 13% tip. We rarely tipped that low, but my husband was frustrated. The brunch is magnificent with food and service. The need for a reservation is a must. We had reservation at 10:30 and they were ready for us to enjoy this venue in Bellefontaine. This was a very pleasant drive from Columbus and parking is no problem. Music was playing in the background and Lindsay our server was on the top of her game. The Syndicate touts big city dining in a small town. It's selection of mains including steak, pork chop, short rib and various seafood dishes back up the claim. However my group arrived about 90 minutes before close, and we focused more on the appetizer and drink menu which was fine in its own right. The pork belly, spinach and artichoke dip, Wagyu pigs in a blanket and Syndicate skins all were nice apps. The candied bacon deviled eggs were not quite as good but serviceable. The Syndicate sangria featured a seasonal apple sangria with caramel rim on the glass. It was a nice touch that enhanced the visual and taste. Overall I feel like we didn't experience the best parts of the Syndicate: the higher end dishes, live music and outdoor space for which the place is known. But it was still a worth the visit. read more

We visited on a Saturday afternoon and sat out front facing the street (they have indoor seating and outdoor seating out back as well). They were offering brunch so of course I went for a breakfast option, and my companion did as well. I ordered a coffee and chose their veggie and goat cheese omelet - it came with a side of potatoes - and my mom got their fried green tomato and fried egg BLT (sans egg). She subbed out the fries for sweet potato fries (up charge) and said the sandwich was good but the fries were seasoned with something a little spicy which she did not care for. I thought the spice was good but just an FYI if you aren't a fan of spicy things. The omelet was really good. The goat cheese looked like it was squeezed in so it was spread out within and not in pieces. The mushrooms inside the omelet were huge as well which I enjoyed. The potatoes on the side were good too! I didn't really like the coffee but everything else was solid. And our server was really good! What a great restaurant in our small town. The food is amazing and the wait staff is so friendly and attentive. I believe our last visit our waitress's name was Rochelle. She brought out some warm rolls with some cinnamon butter. Delicious! For our main meals I got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and Waffles. There were two large pieces of chicken that were cooked to perfection. The chicken was so moist and tender. The waffles were delicious. My wife got the Baked Burrata Stuffed Ravioli. She really enjoyed it. The only complaint she had was she didn't care for the bread that came with it. It was grilled and almost tasted burnt to her, but some people may enjoy it. We also got a couple of cocktails. The Syndicate Sangria and the Strawberry Peach Bourbon Smash. Please be advised that this is not an inexpensive restaurant but you get what you pay for. On a whim we decided to meet our children and grandchildren half way between us in Columbus and them in Lima. We decided on a pizza place but it was closed when we got there. So I Yelped, of course, to find another restaurant near by. LUCKY for us we found The Syndicate! The restaurant is nice, airy and comfortable and when we said we were a party of 7 the woman seating us didnt bat an eye which was a huge relief as we had 3 small hungry children. They seemed to be a bit understaffed but our server and the young man helping her were so insanely nice and patient we felt well treated. Now it's not an inexpensive place BUT there is a difference between value for money and cheaper. Value for money, to us, is an interesting menu selection that delivers and delivers with taste and freshness. We plan on going back just to work our way through the menu. I had gnocchi that was pillowy and sublime. My husband and SiL had the pork schnitzel that they raved about and my daughter had the salmon with shrimp which was so generous she took half of it home. Now two things that are super pluses THE BEST CARROT CAKE any of us have ever had including the one I make and the chocolate cake was actually my fave because it was not overly sweet and you taste the cocoa. I had a hangover burger. It was cooked perfectly and the over easy egg on top was too! The fries were fresh and delicious as well. I went with a group of six for brunch and four of us got the burger and all liked it. The other meals were the chicken and waffles which were a hit...she said the waffle didn't have much of a sweet potato flavor which is good in my opinion. And someone else had the breakfast burrito which was huge and looked very tasty. Kaz was a great server and took care of us very well. The environment is swanky and pretty. I'm still in complete shock from last night's dinner. My boyfriend's boss had been planning their yearly work party dinner and we got a hotel room and everything and made a night of it but unfortunately the food was absolutely horrible. I still can't believe they burnt almost everyone's steak and by the time they remade it, nobody was hungry anymore. They also brought the burnt steaks out with only one side and forgot everybody's second side. When you're charging that much money for a meal it's shocking when your steak is way overdone. I also ordered scallops with my meal, which was $14 for two scallops. The scallops were hard and dry. For seven dollars a scallop you can least think they could cook it correctly. I'm really hoping they find somewhere else for the work party for next year very very disappointed in the meal we had. read more

Absolutely on point with a to die for sauce. The ribeye Oscar style was so so good. Perfectly cooked steak with the sauce - wow. I'm not a sauce on steak guy, but thought I'd try it and absolutely so good. My wife had the ribs and she said the cherry BBQ sauce was amazing. I am not from the area but was driving through and craving breakfast. I found them and called in to order. The receptionist was very kind and when I asked if they were able to make any mocktails, she went to check with the bar who jumped on the phone with me and happily gave me many options to choose from. When I picked up my order, they were fast and courteous. The biscuits and gravy were fantastic. One of the softest, butteriest biscuits I've ever had and the gravy was flavorful as well. The mock tail, a riff off a tequila sunrise, really hit the spot. I appreciated them accommodating my request as many don't! Met my family here for Brunch on Mother's Day. I was blown away by the drink options. I did a mimosa flight. My favorite were the Collins and Bellini. The Bellini was one of the best I've ever had! I have friends in Bellefontaine and have been visiting the town for the past seven years. It is amazing to see how revitalized the downtown area has become. The Syndicate is the latest investment in the Bellefontaine community and it's not a place I imagined would exist in the desolate downtown area seven years ago. I am happy to see a small town grow and thrive like Bellefontaine has. We had brunch at The Syndicate. Our table on the patio was socially distanced and we all felt safe the entire time we were at the restaurant. Brunch was excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we even were given a free mimosa flight because it was made on accident! The pricing is affordable and they have a variety of vegetarian options as well. What an experience tonight. Our friend suggested that we drive 40 minutes to go to Bellefontaine for dinner and we said why not! We have been to Brewfontaine many times and always had great food and service, six hundred downtown one of my favorite pizza places and Don's diner, so we were excited to try The Syndicate. We had reservations for 7 pm and we were seated right away. The server approached us quickly, but wasn't able to recommend drinks as he just turned 21 and that is ok. One of the drinks we had was the mojito and it didn't even have the mint. Some of the drinks took longer and the manager came and delivered them and asked us if we wanted an appetizer. He suggested the spinach dip (the best thing we had) and the Thai chicken lettuce wrap ( it was ok, I would prefer the one on BJ's restaurant. Thirty minutes have gone by and no appetizers yet. We had to call our server as he didn't even checked on us nor the manager noticing that people are getting their food that came after us. The server then said that the chef apologizes as he was behind. We noticed that all the tables got bread, but not us so we asked if we could at least get some bread. Finally the appetizers came in and we placed our order. Sadly it took 45 minutes more to get our food, then our waiter told us that it was his fault because he forgot to push send both times (how do you do that) Once again the manager was going around all tables and talking to people, bringing the checks, doing refills, but not us again. That was so sorry of management not to even come and apologized. At least the waiter owner up and told us the true at the end. He asked if he could bring us anything and I asked him for A1 for my steak, but guess what?, never got it My husband read the reviews and decided to go with the shrimp and grits because of the braised short ribs and roasted poblano and of course that was missing. All together was a first bad experience and we were there for two hours. At some point we had to bother another waiter for help as our waiter was to busy to stop by when they at this point maybe had 6 tables. I can keep writing..... I do hope that this doesn't happen to others as I like to support local business. Management do better, all customers should be acknowledged and an apology would have made a difference. read more
