This is a cute spot that seems to be a local favorite. We wanted to grab something simple after leaving Mad River Mountain, so we chose this restaurant after seeing the reviews. It's small, but offers a good variety of wraps and sandwiches! Our waitress was friendly and very attentive. Our appetizer came out much faster than expected, only for our food to follow very shortly thereafter. I ordered the Chicken Fajita Wrap and a side of tater tots. I'd say the wrap was worth 3/5 stars, but the service was really good, so I'm bumping it up to 4. It was hefty! A little strong on the onions, but still a solid wrap. The tater tots were delicious. Very crispy! I was stuffed and couldn't eat it all, so I'd say the price to portion ratio was worth it. They have a covered patio for colder weather, but my party chose to sit in the main bar area. TVs were set to the evening's college football games, and the atmosphere was pretty cool. We saved our tummies for lunchtime to eat at Brewfontaine before venturing off to Campbell Hill, Ohio's highest. This is not a brewery but a brew pub, with some good selections on tap and cans, which you can take to go if you choose. We had the Heart State Break Hazy IPA NE/Hazy IPA · 6.5% ABV · ~220 cals, which was on tap and a fine IPA from Columbus, Ohio. It tasted better than it looked. To our order we added a couple of sandwiches (the Ruben melt and cheese steak) and Buffalo wing salad with blue cheese. Their frier was out of commission at the time so we had to settle for potato chips. The sandwiches we chose had the perfect amount of toasting and buttering. Devilishly good. If I had known that would be so good I wouldn't have bothered to pay extra for the beer cheese. The beer cheese was "meh" ok. The server did say they were getting new house made beer cheese soon. The parking at this restaurant was limited, but I believe they have extra parking around the corner. I however parked on the street right in front of the restaurant. We walked inside and were seated immediately and given menus and asked what we would like to drink. When our drinks were brought we then ordered our food. Food. All food came out exactly as ordered, except they forgot 1 side dish, which later the server remembered the forgot dish and gave it to us for free. All our meals were very tasty. Restrooms. Our server/bartender was great. Everyone's food was good but mine was not great. I ordered the loaded tater tots as an appetizer they came out with the meal and they were not hot. My entree was the French Dip. The meat and onions were cooked perfectly and the au jus was good. My only problem was the bread was just a smooshed hoagie bun. We stopped here today for lunch because we were in the area and even though I live 50 miles away, I've heard lots of good things about this place. Those people were right! It's certainly worthy! It's not a very big place and the menu is mostly limited to sandwiches and salads. (Also, the cheesecake is legendary!) I had the Buffalo Chicken panini with pickle, chips and blue cheese dressing. The sandwich was awesome with chicken, mozzarella cheese and a decent kick of heat that made it interesting. The blue cheese just made the flavors that much better. Went today to have lunch at another location in town that was closed for vacation so had to come up with a plan B, so we came upon this Bar/sandwich joint, so after checking som yelp reviews decided to check it out, the inside is small with a few tables scattered around but most seating is at the main bar, that offers a good selection of Beers and wines from local places. They also have a heated patio out back and we chose to eat there. The menu is a good variety of appetizers, salads, and sandwiches a little pricey for the offering since doesn't come with sides. I chose the wrap of Ohio the came with a couple slices of turkey, fresh spinach, tomatoes, red onions and banana peppers but no cheese served with sriracha Mayo on a tortilla wrap it was 13.00 and I added tots $4.00. It had good flavor but needed cheese. The tots were just regular tots about less than a handful. My wife got the Hedburg club sandwich it is the typical club sandwich made on Texas toast with Turkey, Ham, and bacon with lettuce and tomatoes. $13.00 She chose kettle chips as her side dish $2.00 . This place is nice but one negative, when they clean tables they spray fabuloso then wipe tables, the smell is so strong and over powering that it made it had to enjoy our meals. We sat on the patio because we were a party of 7. It was a little chilly at first but then they turned on the propane heater and wow, within 2 minutes the room was cozy. Atmosphere is relaxed but still very nice, with potted succulents at the tables and nice serveware. The ice cubes are the clear tinkley kind and they serve the water in glass bottles...just nice touches. We paid around $14 for the wraps if memory serves. Sandwiches came within 12 minutes! Our waitress was great, the food was really good, and everyone got what they ordered. I got the Julius Wrap(highly recommend) and my son got a steak and cheese that looked amazing, served with a very good horseradish sauce. Two at our table got beer, and both enjoyed. There's a nice bar and patio. I had the Moeller Brew Barn Wally Post Red. It's about $5 for a pint. This is a red ale that's really smooth. It's one of the many local breweries they have selections from. These also include Rhinegheist and Warped Wing. Be sure to try some of the food. Most of this is better than typical bar slop. I had the pretzels. These are about $3 for a couple of fresh tasting pretzels with cheese or mustard on the side. A lot of food on the menu is healthy for a bar. They have some good salads. Inside the place is nice. It has several TVs which are good for watching games. There's also a patio through the back if you want more space. read more

Well, I just had my first visit to Brewfontaine and I'm not too impressed. I have heard many people say how great the food is and that it's a great place to visit. I ordered the Reuben sandwich on Italian and while the flavor was ok, the sandwich lacked in filling. By the time I was done eating the sandwich I had quite a bit of grilled bread left to eat without anything in it. If you don't mind an extremely loud atmosphere, sit in the heated patio for dinner. The kids and parents are very loud and playing games. It was like you were in the middle of a school yard with everyone trying to yell over each other. I'm not too sure I'll be coming back here anytime soon if ever. (Spent $16 on the sandwich and a pop.) read more

I've been here twice now. Bellefontaine is an interesting place -- its downtown is slowly growing and getting a lot of cool new places and this is definitely one of them. It's easy to get to and there is lots of street parking available, as well as a lot out back / to the side. On the inside its a little on the small side. A good amount of tables and quite a few seats at the bar. One big positive is that there is a back patio that (i think?) is accessible year round. Definitely a perk in the summer so you can sit outside while still out of the sun (there is a roof). We ended up sitting at the bar. Our waitress approached up right away and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time. My partner got the reuben -- very good -- and i got the ohio wrap (subbed out the sriracha mayo for the pepper mustard zomg). Our food was really great! We also got the pickle & chip add ons. The chips aren't anything special by any means but they are still great! The pickles are the bees knees -- they are soaked in an IPA and you can certainly tell. Great list of drafts on tap as well as a few different wines and some mixed drinks. My partner also ordered a bloody mary -- it was wild. Literally what wasn't in it ... cheese, cucumber, shrimp, bacon bits, celery, beef stick, pickles, and olives. My wife and I stopped in on a Wednesday evening for dinner and a beer, but were disappointed. I am struggling with this review, as the service was good, and the facility was super clean and attractive. I also enjoyed my local beer, but that's where the goodness stopped. My wife ordered a cocktail off the menu, but it was very small, and we both could not taste any gin at all. At $12, this was basically expensive, sweet soda. The food was also a disappointment. It arrived quickly and was both hot and well presented, but just not good. Firstly, my wife ordered a Philly cheese steak. We were confused when it arrived on heavily "buttered" and grilled white bread. who does that to a Philly? And as for the butter, it was actually some kind of butter substitute. It tasted like the stuff that comes from a spray can that you are supposed to use to avoid sticking, but it was heavily applied to the bread, giving the whole thing a super greasy and artificial flavor. I ordered a Buffalo chicken panini, and it was also covered in the stuff. The panini was not spicey at all, and the chicken was previously frozen and precooked little chunks that were rubbery, had no charring whatsoever, and tasted like a bad frozen dinner. This pace is super cute and could be quickly improved by a few changes in the kitchen, but at present, the food is not worth the money at all. read more

The 2017 Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure stopped for two nights in Bellefontaine, and hanging out here was one of the non-cycling highlights of my week-long vacation. Bellefontaine is such a small town, and adding 1,500 bicyclists to the area on a Wednesday and a Thursday meant that many, many of us were stopping by after the day's ride to eat and drink. There isn't that much else to do in Bellefontaine after one has cycled for aproximately 50 miles! I was here on three separate occasions over the two days. Even though the place was consistently packed, the servers inside and outside on the patio did a great job bringing out beers and orders quickly. I liked the range of craft beers on offer and the pretzels were particularly tasty. I was so impressed by the joint that I joined their mailing list. Although I live far away and am unlikely to return unless GOBA goes through Bellefontaine again, I enjoy reading what cool events they have going on. read more

So glad we decided to take a beautiful Sunday drive up to Bellefontaine to check out this great place... Definitely worth the trip!! There's a good bit of BUZZ about this place since it was voted "The best beer bar in Ohio" a bit ago, and while that remains to be seen, it was a FINE place to hang out and enjoy a great meal on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening!! We walked through the cozy, but sort of crowded -- due to some great sounding live music-- dining area and made our way to the back patio, where we seated ourselves and took a bit of time to check out the extensive drink menu and tempting lunch/dinner offerings. Our pretzel app came with a mustard sooooooo delicious (saucy sow?), I asked for more on the side for my Irish grilled cheese sandwich, which was gooooooood, and so filling I saved half for later!! Their chips and IPA marinated pickle were good, but not sure I'd pay extra for them next time, when there are plenty of tempting app and side options available. The Mr. STRUGGLED to choose from amongst the MANY awesome choices for a flight of local/regional beers, while I enjoyed a tasty blood orange cider. First trip up here to Bellefontaine, and it definitely won't be our last!! Seems like there's a lot going on up here, including lots of special events sponsored by this venue.
