    Grilled Mushrooms for my steak

I don't usually splurge on a steak dinner while traveling on business, but felt compelled to have a special meal tonight. I arrived around 7pm after the dinner rush should have settled down abut...wow they were really busy. I ordered the French onion soup as a starter. It arrived piping hot and very yummy. My entree was the outlaw ribeye with grilled mushrooms, a baked potato and a ear of corn. Oh my goodness, it was so tasty. My server Jamie J was spot on making sure my meal was okay and my ice tea was full. Lancaster Pennsylvania is not someplace that I travel to very often, but rest assured that next time I find myself here, I will be eating another fine meal at the Longhorn Steakhouse.

The food and service were good. Nothing special or unexpected but we wanted a steak and that's what we got. And it was perfectly prepared. If we had one grumble... there were some cleanliness concerns. The A1 bottle was totally gross that was brought to the table. The cap and spout were totally covered with A1. There was a fork and some other grubbies on the floor under our table. There was a little puddle on the booth which we thankfully spotted before we sat down-hopefully it was just water.

    Renegade Sirloin, cooked perfectly!

I visited as part of a work related event and was able to enjoy both the bar and dining room. The bar selections were first-rate and while not extensive they were well-considered. John Jeffries specializes in local farm to table ingredients. I enjoyed a watercress potato soup followed by the Puedmontese grass-fed petite beef steak. Both were absolutely delicious. The service was first-rate: friendly and attentive without being obnoxious and VERY well-trained to a level you'd expect in a much larger city. Can't wait to bring my companion back for a visit that I know she will love.

The hotel lobby and bar are welcoming and represent entree to this small eatery. This place features local farm items so the menu is always subject to change. We went to celebrate an anniversary (not ours) and it was a nice welcome for the server to offer the celebrants complimentary prosecco. From there, it was an adventure. Three of us had the shrimp and grits, which, uniquely, were not the typical southern dish but an earthy creation featuring very barley forward grits that also included very chunky carrots and other enhancements I am at a loss to identify. Good, but a surprise for my southern shrimp and grits-expecting palate. The shrimp were pretty overcooked and detracted from the barley-enhanced grits. Two enjoyed the wedge salad. For mains, two enjoyed the shrimp bisque, and the pan fried boneless chicken breast. I had the meatloaf and found it to be a bit gamier than expected likely due to using grass fed beef. The mushroom gravy was nice despite some of the mushrooms having gone over the rainbow bridge. The tallow fried potatoes were luscious despite one being undercooked. The desserts were interesting and all supposedly made in-house. I had the mint chocolate chip ice cream which I found somewhat grainy and crystallized and very lacking in mint flavor. The flourless chocolate cake will likely shock you with its petiteness, but trust me, it packs a wallop of richness that will probably satisfy you. The tres leches cake and honey lavender crème brûlée got high marks. Overall we all liked the ambiance, and were somewhat disappointed with the food. 3.5* rounded down to 3*.

When you enter this place its at ground level and immediately you recognize you need to take the stairs up. Once you usher yourself up it opens up to two areas where you wait to be seated. The place is an older vintage like gastropub where the front is one bar and some seating, but on the backside is more open seating with where the band and another bar are situated. This place isn't meant to be for large groups, but could possibly accommodate groups of 6. The main bar which also next to the kitchen is an older vintage style bar and whisky's is nothing special but once you sit down and hear the music you settle in nicely. Service has always been courteous and prompt and the menu looks like there are a good assortment of choices. The two times I've been here I've ordered the mussels which includes great sauce and spread with seasoned ground meet. Was so yummy! The second time I came I tried the CHICKEN FRICASSEE. Man was that great! It includes 4 pieces of bread, chicken and the mushroom sauce. So good! Both times I had some of their assortment of single scoop ice-cream which in this area, something about the milk from their amish cows is so creamy. All that said, this is one of my fav places to come enjoy a glass of wine and food. Oh and Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday's they have some instrumental band playing too.

He loved it and raved about it. My tenders, beans, fries and added crab cake looked fantastic. My food just wasn't hot. All of it was just room temperature when it was delivered. My friend even had a tender before me and said that's not hot. My food tasted fine but just wasn't hot. I hate sending food back or bothering anyone so I didn't address it. It felt like the short ribs took longer to prepare and my food musta sat and waited. When I ate my leftovers today I bit a tiny shell in the crab cake. Joining for dinner on a Thursday evening in July, here's my experience. 1) Food: The chef and pastry chef take their jobs seriously. Every dish was unique, full of flavor, beautiful, and worth every dollar. To start, they bring out homemade bread made fresh every morning with salted butter. I ordered the special- five jumbo shrimp with smoked garlic aioli. (They have cocktail sauce if you want it, but the garlic is phenomenal.) Before the main came out, the chef brought over the gazpacho using vegetables from his garden. The soup was thicker than I'm used to, but it paired perfectly with the vegetables. It was delicious! The scallops for the main were perfectly cooked and worked with the sauce in the middle of the plate and the green sauce on top of each scallop. Another winner! The lemon custard was refreshing for dessert. It's presented so well where you uncover more layers with each bite. 2) Drinks: They have a full cocktail menu with drinks named after famous people, wine, beer, and mocktails. Enjoying more sweet drinks, I ordered the "Marilyn Monroe." It was a fun drink, but a little too sweet for me. If you like berry and sweet drinks, you'll love it! 3) Service: It's excellent from start to finish. My server Tate was friendly, passionate about the menu, and efficient. His timing with everything was impeccable. 4) Space: It's beautiful. Despite on the basement level, it's lit well with photos of famous icons on the walls. It's iconic!
