I went to Longhorn because my aunt wanted to go here for her birthday. I am glad I went, the food was really good. The lamb chops shocked me on how good they were that tomato garlic herb sauce enhanced the lamb chops. The Outlaw ribeye was also very delicious. It was grilled to the perfect temp with good flavor. The ribs were just ok but my aunt loved them. The Parmesan crusted chicken was also a hit at the table as it had good flavor as well. Both deserts were awesome and should stay on the menu. Waitress was slow and unapologetic when a $42 steak,that was ordered medium rare,came out beyond WELL-done...I gave her a chance to replace it but after 18 minutes without her returning to check on the rest of the table , I walked to her to cancel it as my family was already done eating. Her response was less than concerned. I spoke to the manager on duty,Will, who said "well,I took it off the bill" as if that was anything other than an obligatory action. The food was over cooked and untouched with an opportunity to rectify that they failed at miserably and he could only add "well you see we're busy". Again I don't know if it's the LH being short handed or bla bla bla...whatever it is we waited almost 10 minutes after sitting down. Now this is a restaurant 10 minutes. They took our appetizer and Main course order at the same time, so I asked " the food isn't going to come out on top of each other? I was told "no we have a hold button". I'm thinking the button is broken. When the salads showed up by a runner we just canceled the app. Then when the app showed up we had to cancel it again. Our server was sweet, but she messed up. As I walked in the hostess was at the podium when I said "just one please " she seemed confused . Maybe she didn't hear me ? Well anyway I was sat toward the back the place really wasn't busy so maybe they wanna spread tables out ? The server arrived in my opinion he was either tired or maybe just didn't wanna be there . However he was fast and got everything right .i ordered the cheesy stuffed mushrooms for appetizer. They were nice and soft and very cheesy . They were quite good and I've ordered them before . For dinner I had the flo's filet 6 oz with a loaded sweet potato . The steak was tender and had a nice seasoning to it . The sweet potato however wasn't quite hot enough to melt the butter so that was a turn off . The meal also came with a salad and I asked for the balsamic vinegarette that was good as well . For dessert I got the strawberries and cream shortcake . Definitely looked better in the picture . He brought it in a nice container but no bag which I found odd . Maybe offer one ? When I had the dessert later on it was just soggy and really wasn't good . No texture to it and not much but wet soggy cake with little cream . Overall it was a nice dinner and pleasant experience. He ordered the outlaw steak, mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. I ordered the regular ribeye with mashed potatoes and the fried corn. Our appetizers were the wings and the spinach dip. The appetizers were perfect and cooked to perfection. His meal was superb. His meal was perfectly cooked medium well steak as requested. My steak was not. I kindly mentioned it to our wonderful, professional experience waitress Liz and she wanted to immediately make it right ! Susan the manager then addressed us with a caring sense of urgency to rectify the situation. Susan and Liz were both professional and attentive to this matter. For a transnational watering hole of this sort, the longhorn's got a fine assortment of cattle flesh if I do say so myself. They're perfectly willing to serve that steer too you still a'mooing, cow juices runnin' down your face and all that goodness. I probably contracted an intestinal parasite from that ribeye, but I'd wager it was good enough that I ought not complain. When everyone arrived they headed to the table and I waited at the bar to pay the bar bill. And I waited and waited. The bartender even started a conversation with two guests at the bar while I stood there. Finally paid the bar bill and headed to the table. The server during dinner was very good. For dinner I had the Wild West shrimp appetizer and two sides; Brussel sprouts and asparagus. Even though it wasn't an entree with sides, it was plentiful and I ended up taking home leftovers. All that I got to eat was very tasty. Everyone else enjoyed their steak and meals. Overall it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be given my dietary restrictions. Both were decent, but pretty greasy. The entree is where things shined. I got the Longhorn (22 oz porterhouse) prepared medium, with a loaded baked potato, and broccoli. The steak was juicy, tender, and well prepared. I thought it beat out some nicer steakhouses in Atlantic City and the surrounding area honestly. For dessert, I had the chocolate lava cake. Let's be real here, you aren't beating a chocolate lava cake with a serious scoop of vanilla ice cream. Our server, Mike, was excellent and attentive. Always a tasty meal, the staff is accommodating and friendly. The food was well seasoned and cooked to proper temperature. There was no wait since we were apparently doing an early bird dinner. The only odd parts were that 2 entrées came out and then it was 4-5 minutes before the rest of the table was served. It's sort of like an upscale Texas Roadhouse and we like TR yet never visit the two LHS locations that are local to us. Truly it's only on the road when the siren song of Longhorn seems to call. Service: It was a fairly slow South Jersey Saturday for dinner when we got there and seating was easy. No issues as well with drink refills or the food hitting the table in a timely manner. Everything here was beautifully simple and easy. Food: Parmesan Crusted Chicken - Bacon Cheeseburger - Renegade Sirloin - Grilled Chicken and Strawberry Salad All items were well presented and tasted great. I personally think salad is the devil but the old lady's salad looked shockingly good to the point that I almost (but only almost) asked to switch with her. I can't bring myself to give a chain restaurant a 5. The one point off is for being a chain and also for weird parking situation. You can't park directly in front of building but only on the side. So when you walk up to building, you still need to walk around the building to enter on the side. In the rain, that was annoying since there is no way to be dropped off at the door. That being said, there is nothing bad to say about the food or service with the Longhorn in Mays Landing. I have enjoyed several meals at this franchise, but not all are created equal. On a recent visit to Florida, specifically Kissimmee, my friends, and I did not enjoy our steaks as much as we have in other restaurants. According to a female member of the waitstaff, we were told that the cook du jour was whoever showed up that night, which meant they weren't necessarily trained chefs. The bar was also a bit dirty with leftover crumbs from prior diners, yet being that it wasn't busy this shouldn't have been the case. They were also out of lemons and offered me a lime instead and I overheard them saying they probably wouldn't have lemons until tomorrow because no one wanted to run to the store .
