This is going to sound dramatic, but this was the worse dining experience I've had in Austin in a very long time. We came in around 8 and opted to sit at the bar at one of the high tables as we were told it's open seating. We were able to order drinks in a decent normal time then the waiting game started. We finally got our server back 30 minutes in and he took our order. I had ordered a margarita when we arrived, still had not received it. About an hour in. I got my drink. No food. Zero check ins, never asked if we wanted or needed anything, we finally asked if someone could check on our food as everyone around us had received theirs that had gotten there well after us. The server said, "sure." Never came back. At 1.5 hours of waiting we asked for a manager and explained we were going to leave and to bring our check for the drinks. He said to give him a moment and he'd personally check on the food. He also never came back. My friends left. I waited to pay for my drink as I felt it was wrong to not do so. I never saw any food. Two hours later I left hungry after a long day of working and choosing this place for dinner. I was looking forward to my food. And now I guess Taco Bell will get my business. At least in a drive thru they don't act like you're annoying them for trying to receive a service you're paying for. Did not feel welcome here.

It ain't fancy but the service was nice and we got a nice meal. Ambiance is a little dated but wasn't bad. Steaks were grilled well and the sides were tasty. We liked the Caesar salad, fries and baked potato. It was also much lighter on the wallet than a high end steakhouse.

First time to a longhorn the restaurant was nice and clean, classic outdoors woodlands look. The booth we had was cozy and comfortable. Restrooms were clean as well. All the food was good except the baby back ribs. The ribs were burnt to much it was a strong smell and taste of char for us. The rest of the food the bread was warm and soft. Shrimp well seasoned not greasy, salad tasty, tossed well not wet right amount of dressing. Mashed potato creamy and savory. Steak cooked perfectly nice sear and seasoned well. Sweet potato was hot and soft tasted better with the cinnamon and butter. You should offer Texas honey as a side as well just an option lol. The service was great our server was Melanie G. She got us everything we needed and came by checking on us many times. For a causal steakhouse it was better than some others out there. Will be back again.

The bartender was friendly. The bar wasn't crowded but there is not a HH. They did bring a loaf of bread with butter. That was the best part of my time here. The wine was overpriced. Hello and goodbye Longhorn Steakhouse- at least for happy hour.

Top of vinegar bottle is not clean.

While we had a nice experience, food was OK I couldn't help but notice some obvious things. As you can see in the photos from where we were sitting, there was a table in the back corner with lots of dirty dishes on top of it. This table was there from the time we walked in at 3 o'clock until we left at approximately 4:15. A manager walked over there picked up an item probably needed it for another table.. Asked for oil and vinegar for my salad and look at the top of the vinegar container. Appears it has not been cleaned.

Once again a delicious meal. For food the lady had her usual filet and baked sweet potato while I had the chopped steak with rice. The service provided by Chris was perfect. This was the first time we've been able to go out and it was a great experience. Nice quiet ambiance at lunch.

Why chain restaurants tend to have not-so-great Yelp ratings is beyond me. Maybe quality control is tough at a massive chain? My boyfriend was craving steak so we ended up here for dinner. First off - you can get a full steak dinner here for $15-40 dollars. That is UNHEARD of! I also appreciate the calorie counts posted on the menu :) Second off, that bread is crack. Our lovely server placed it right on the table as soon as we walked in. We happily devoured 3 loaves of the fluffy, warm, bread and spreadable whipped butter. Onto the food - We ordered the lobster shrimp soup ($5.99 a cup) - it was tasty, quality was alright and it had tiny pieces of pre-frozen shrimp, but again, it's a $6 cup of soup. We also ordered the Flo's 9 oz filet ($30.49) with a side of loaded baked potato and Caesar salad. The steak is juicy and delicious. Our first steak came well-done instead of medium. Our second steak came rare so they put it back on the grill for us - third time was the charm! I get it - steak temperatures are tough and they were busy. What we most appreciated was the effort and attention to getting our meal right :) The interior actually feels sophisticated and dare I say, high end. Though it is casual. Our server was amazing, I really wish we got his name. He truly went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect for us.

I ate here for lunch and it was amazing. There is a special lunch menu with reduced prices. I had the Parmesan crusted chicken. When I have eaten this elsewhere, the chicken might be 1/4" thick. Here, it was 3/4" to 1" throughout. The lunch entrees come with one side, with many to choose from. A side salad could be had for $1.49, which I went for. Finally, great service by Megan.

Ordered chicken fried steak. Came with no gravy. This is a Caesar salad. Lettuce and room temperature Caesar dressing with a lid that's gonna pop from being spoiled. Don't eat here. Waste of a gift card

Be prepared to wait 3 months bc that's how far it takes to get one. We sat down and were promptly greeted. They do dinner as sit down service and block off the section of the restaurant for the dinners. They do have wine based cocktails to start off. We had a lovely arugula salad with garlic chips that were so good. We also ordered the beef cheeks which are normally gone by 12:30/1pm and I can see why. They basically melt in your mouth and so tender. Before your steak comes out they give you a smoker tour. Steak was cooked perfectly and we ordered the miso glazed carrots some of the best carrots I have ever had. Save room for dessert. One of the misses has been some BBQ spots; some places that I was hyped for, disappointed me. I came in with an open mind to LeRoy and Lewis, seeing that they were more "new school" barbeque. I also came in prepared: I saw many food bloggers do their reviews, so I was familiar with some of their offerings. For my order, I ordered doubly: I got the Monday Special L&L Burger for $10 and Beef Tallow Fried Chips for $3. On top of that, I also got the 2MEATS/2SIDES Plate at $25. If you want to order a premium meat, each order is an additional $3. My plate totaled $31, and with the Burger & Fries, the total came out to $44. MUCH BETTER VALUE COMPARED TO *cough* OTHER BBQ PITS IN THE AREA... If you are ever in Austin on a Monday, you have to stop by L&L for their special Monday Burger deal. You'll get this amazing smoked burger --- made with 1/2 lb. brisket patty, grilled onions, pickles, on a toasted martin's potato roll --- and it SLAPS. The smoke hits you instantly, along with how juicy a patty it is. For the plate, for my sides I got the Frito Pie & the Kale Caesar Slaw. Both these sides are unique and are flavorful accompaniments to the BBQ. Frito pie is fun & has DEPTH, while the Kale Slaw is refreshing after eating so much heavy BBQ. On to the meats: L&L were already sold out of the famous beef cheeks, so for my two meats I got the Tri Tip and the Flat Iron Steak. OH MY GOD. Both options were so immensely flavorful, smoky, and moist. I was completely entranced at how delicious these meats were. For dessert, because why not --- I got the cheddar cheesecake with apple butter. It was oddly, partially savory but I think it was meant to be. The apple butter carried it to the perfect "dessert territory". All in all, I am GRATEFUL AND SATISFIED. Spoke to some employees --- the nicest in the world! They truly care about the craft. Restaurant is clean, and if you come at the "right time" --- spacious when necessary. LeRoy and Lewis --- I see the vision!

We started the 2025 list and we are more than half-way through the list as of July 2026. On our recent BBQ quest to Austin, TX, my family stopped at our La Barbecue. This was our sixth time to visit over the past few years. I'm a Texas Trinity traditionalist. So we always order the brisket, ribs, and sausage. The brisket was out of this world good- great bark, nice smoke ring, well seasoned, very moist, and melt in your mouth tender. I am not exaggerating! It is a similar experience every time which is an astonishingly consistent feat for any BBQ joint. La Barbecue is world class. Ribs were equally excellent - smokey sweet and moist, tender. Even my wife was a fan and she is not big on ribs. The smoke is just right. There were three different types of sausage - traditional, jalapeno, and chipotle. We decided on the chipotle sausage which was deliciously juicy. I really enjoy the loose grind and texture of the sausage filling which reminded me of a chorizo. It had a nice snap to the casing. Friday bonus - free beer! The restaurant is quaint, warm, and inviting. We arrived about 20 minutes before they opened as we anticipated a historically long line. Luckily, we were first in line! The staff is fun and patient with listening to our order and answering questions. Parking was easy because we were early but the lot is small so be sure to scout out the parking situation to plan your options and Caesar Chavez St. can be very busy si you may have to park on side streets if the parking is full. Hat's off to the pitmasters and staff at La Barbecue. We can't wait to go back.
