I was not impressed with our visit this time to Longhorn. Usually at this location it is nice and quiet and you can have a conversation with your partner. This time we were seated right at the entrance where it was very cold. And unfortunately had a baby sitting in booth across from us. Luckily the mother took it out when it started crying. All we could do is hurry up and eat. The food was a little salty. Not the usual best Longhorn serves. I may give it another opportunity in the future, but probably not for awhile. read more

She never offered her name, and when she took our orders, she never mentioned that we would not get our salads by ordering two sides. The ribeyes were over peppered. This is going to sound dramatic, but this was the worse dining experience I've had in Austin in a very long time. We came in around 8 and opted to sit at the bar at one of the high tables as we were told it's open seating. We were able to order drinks in a decent normal time then the waiting game started. We finally got our server back 30 minutes in and he took our order. I had ordered a margarita when we arrived, still had not received it. About an hour in. I got my drink. No food. Zero check ins, never asked if we wanted or needed anything, we finally asked if someone could check on our food as everyone around us had received theirs that had gotten there well after us. The server said, "sure." Never came back. At 1.5 hours of waiting we asked for a manager and explained we were going to leave and to bring our check for the drinks. He said to give him a moment and he'd personally check on the food. He also never came back. My friends left. I waited to pay for my drink as I felt it was wrong to not do so. I never saw any food. Two hours later I left hungry after a long day of working and choosing this place for dinner. I was looking forward to my food. And now I guess Taco Bell will get my business. At least in a drive thru they don't act like you're annoying them for trying to receive a service you're paying for. Did not feel welcome here. read more

First time to a longhorn the restaurant was nice and clean, classic outdoors woodlands look. The booth we had was cozy and comfortable. Restrooms were clean as well. All the food was good except the baby back ribs. The ribs were burnt to much it was a strong smell and taste of char for us. The rest of the food the bread was warm and soft. Shrimp well seasoned not greasy, salad tasty, tossed well not wet right amount of dressing. Mashed potato creamy and savory. Steak cooked perfectly nice sear and seasoned well. Sweet potato was hot and soft tasted better with the cinnamon and butter. You should offer Texas honey as a side as well just an option lol. The service was great our server was Melanie G. As you can see in the photos from where we were sitting, there was a table in the back corner with lots of dirty dishes on top of it. Why chain restaurants tend to have not-so-great Yelp ratings is beyond me. Maybe quality control is tough at a massive chain? My boyfriend was craving steak so we ended up here for dinner. First off - you can get a full steak dinner here for $15-40 dollars. That is UNHEARD of! I also appreciate the calorie counts posted on the menu :) Second off, that bread is crack. Our lovely server placed it right on the table as soon as we walked in. We happily devoured 3 loaves of the fluffy, warm, bread and spreadable whipped butter. Onto the food - We ordered the lobster shrimp soup ($5.99 a cup) - it was tasty, quality was alright and it had tiny pieces of pre-frozen shrimp, but again, it's a $6 cup of soup. We also ordered the Flo's 9 oz filet ($30.49) with a side of loaded baked potato and Caesar salad. The steak is juicy and delicious. Our first steak came well-done instead of medium. Our second steak came rare so they put it back on the grill for us - third time was the charm! I get it - steak temperatures are tough and they were busy. What we most appreciated was the effort and attention to getting our meal right :) The interior actually feels sophisticated and dare I say, high end. Though it is casual. My experience at the LongHorn Steakhouse in Austin was unacceptable. The server made it clear from the start that providing basic service was an afterthought. She hesitated before asking if I wanted the complimentary bread, took far longer than reasonable to bring it out, and then set it down at the edge of the table without a word or acknowledgment.While I waited for my meal, she walked past my table multiple times without offering any update, check‑in, or indication that my order was even being handled. After finishing the bread and still receiving zero communication, I decided I wasn't going to sit there and be ignored. First time customer at Longhorn Steak House: I'm not sure if we accidentally wandered into a top-secret steakhouse reserved for royalty in Sunset Vally, but from the moment we sat down at LongHorn Steakhouse, our waitress Autum looked at us like we'd just tracked mud across her favorite rug. I've never felt so small and unwanted in my life -- like an English street urchin daring to peek into a grand dining hall. Her expression said, "How did you people get in here?" without ever having to move her lips. It was honestly impressive. Just mad I was breathing the same air. My tea sat emptier than my hopes for good service. Not once did it see a refill. Not once did we hear, "How's everything tasting?" I considered sending up smoke signals or maybe writing "HELP" in steak sauce on the table. She acted perpetually "in the weeds," yet somehow always had time to speed-walk past our table with Olympic-level avoidance skills. If ignoring customers were a competitive sport, we witnessed a gold medal performance. And the food? My wife ordered her steak medium rare, not "still actively negotiating terms with the cow." This thing was so rare it chewed back. It had the texture of steak-flavored bubble gum. My Ribeye was decent. Just VERY fatty. It was more appropriate for a diner steak. Like hungover steak and eggs good. Overall, the experience left us feeling cold, awkward, and vaguely apologetic for existing. In a summation: simply delicious. I had the shrimp skewers off of the lunch menu. it comes with an included side, but there were actually two included sides because the shrimp were on top of a bed of rice. I got the okra as an additionally included side and it was prepared unlike I have had before elsewhere. Normally fried okra is cut into half inch "cubes" for lack of a better term. Here they were sliced lengthwise into a few 2-3 inch strips. I throughly enjoyed them this way. read more

Since I arrived early before Sir Laurence and Lady Karen to celebrate Lady Karen's birthday, I ordered the Longhorn Old Fashioned, combined bitters and orange with exclusively bottled Small Batch 9yr. Bourbon by Knob Creek which was graciously presented by the bar server Stephanie. Once the guest of honour arrived, we were taken to a booth where I ordered the Chopped Steak, 10 oz. of fresh ground beef loaded with grilled mushrooms and caramelized onions and smothered with our savory garlic herb sauce. Oh man, that garlic herb sauce sent that chopped steak to another level. The two sides that accompanied my order were the Caesar Salad and Fire-Grilled Corn on the Cob, ripe summer corn grilled on an open flame, brushed with Mexican crema sauce and topped with seasoned Parmesan cheese, which was phenomenal. Our server Felicia was excellent and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal but was a bit disappointed that Longhorn Steakhouse did not have espresso nor my favourite digestive, Drambuie, so I had to settle for another aperitif and a regular coffee. We've eaten at Longhorn steakhouse Sunset Valley many times and had good food, and prices. We went on Sunday Oct. 26th, the prices were up 10-15%, some items like pork chops went from 3 to 2. I had a grilled chicken salad and the chicken was underdone, lettuce not really fresh. My husbands baked sweet potato wasn't good, grilled asparagus was burnt, the waitress did bring him another batch. His chopped steak was OK. The day before we went to another restaurant and things were consistently good. Not sure we'll be back to Longhorn. read more

Seem to remember Rooster, Grandma, and I having an early Christmas eve lunch a few years back. If ordering big we usually share; hence the Outlaw Ribeye we ordered. Twenty ounce bone in cut was cooked to our liking with an extra plate happily provided. She cuts off what she wants and I tackle the rest. Prolly ate a little more than I should. Still not a fan of the provided bread and cold butter. Baked potato was top notch. I love the sea salt crust borrowed from LH's forgotten and sold off Red Lobster chain cousin. Fried okra gets equal praise with a unique cut and can be paired with ranch or zesty "Tonion" sauce. Service was great; drink refills flowed nicely. Based on the fact it is always busy, this chain must do it for other people. It has its pluses: cold drinks and a lot of food. The decor is everything someone not from Texas thinks about Texas: antler chandeliers, mounted cow trophies, sarapes, whips, cowboy paintings, wood, iron, leather. Each entree comes with a side and a salad. We ordered a 9oz filet with okra (not pictured) and the chicken fried chicken with mashed potatoes. Each came with a Cesar salad. They start you off with warm bread and butter. Salad: had a generous amount of shaved parm and croutons. It was a bit filling all by itself. Sides: the okra was hit or miss on how well it was cooked or if it was completely battered. Mashed potatoes were fine and helped neutralized the protein. Entree: the filet looked smashed a bit before being cooked, perhaps it was the 6oz and they tried to make it look bigger by flattening it? Otherwise it tasted okay. The chicken was awful. It was like licking a salt lick. After scraping off some of the seasoned crust, it was still too salty. Inedibly salty. I could feel my bp rising. That's it. It's not for me. The staff was friendly and on the ready with boxes. Side note: two POS are in the main dining area. Since this is where they all have to key in their orders, if you sit next to the POS, you get to hear all of their chatter about shift cuts or the party after work, etc. It provided some entertainment. The waitress didn't seem to care. The service was horrible. One waitress was refilling water, ran out and never came back. Overall terrible service and poor food quality. We weren't sure who our waitress or waiter was and we had to ask for everything. The wait staff didn't smile or ask if we needed anything. If I knew the customer service would be this poor i would have bought a steak from HEB and cooked it myself & save $100.
