As steakhouses go, this is the best we've found in the west valley. Yea, you have Fleming's and now Morton's - and those are certainly excellent- but I put those in a different category really. A steak there is $80 and everything is a-la-carte and $30 more. So it's more of a special/high-end experience. Longhorn, by contrast, is a more "every day" family steakhouse experience. It's what a good old-fashioned steakhouse should be. If you want to go into a dark, wood-paneled, bar-like establishment with red vinyl booths and mob bosses meeting in back rooms, you're better off at something like Durant's. This is not that. What great steak! As I said, the best we've had in the west valley. Excellent cuts, top quality meats. Cooked perfectly and as asked for. Tender, flavorful steak and the best baby-back ribs Ive ever had. For once they're not drenched in sticky-sweet, cheap BBQ sauce and overcooked. Nope, these were moist and fork-tender. The burgers are fantastic and the ribeye is juicy and full of flavor. The sirloin is top notch and the "Flo's Special" filet mignon is just perfect. The sides here are particularly good. The broccoli is unusually good and cooked to perfection. The Mac and cheese is legendary. It's hearty and gooey and very cheesy. Excellent. The potatoes are standard but very tasty and come with all the fixings. For dessert, the strawberry shortcake is my favorite. It's delicate and not cloyingly sweet. It's a delicate, light, fresh-tasting and very moist cake. The perfect finish to an excellent meal. You can't go wrong here. It's always packed, so do the waitlist before you arrive. The service was extremely slow and orders weren't served as ordered, half the table received water and the rest had to ask. I myself ordered a medium cooked steak, it was pretty rare, and the Parmesan crusted chicken was so salty it wasn't edible. And possibly the worst margarita I've had possibly ever. I watched as a girl cleaning a table next to ours pushed crumbs to the floor, when she should have attempted at least to collect them with the dishes she was clearing. Good, but definitely a steakhouse for the masses. We had heard about longhorn from other who spoke highly of them, so I thought we'd give em' a go. We arrived Friday evening, to quite a large crowd. Thank goodness we wait listed while on the way. That would be my advice to anyone planning a visit! We were in, in a respectable 20 minutes. The ambiance is that of a large open air dining room. Not much to look at, but definitely maximized for seating. And when you're hungry, I guess that's all that matters! Unfortunately it was 20 minutes before our server asked for our drink order. She was apologetic, and had our drinks out quickly. She said the bread is on the way. It took some time for that to arrive as well. Finally, we were promised our salad, on three occasions, which took about another 15 minutes or so to arrive. The Cesar salad and bread were reminiscent of a similar chain, but really good. The food took about another 30 minutes, but was very satisfying. I had an 8 oz. filet and lobster tail with a loaded baked potato. We also had the crispy honey Brussel sprouts. They were nicely crispy and delicious, but very sweet. The steak was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The lobster was a great companion and the meal wouldn't have been complete without the loaded baked potato was very good. All-in-all the perfect amount of food. In the future, I would be a little more diligent about avoiding the crowd, but would definitely enjoy my meal again. In total, we were there for about 90 minutes. The account needs updating as we sat in a booth in the far right hand corner of the main dining area, cushions had no whatever in them, we were sitting on vinyl and support structure below cushions. They're 6 oz. Fillet which is supposed to be their specialty was just okay, and I'm stretching the okay. Baked potato was fine. Brussel Sprouts were fine as well. The LH Burger was okay. I feel the food quality has fallen off dramatically as it has in a lot of restaurants, i'm sure the high food costs are affecting the restaurants as well. The Parmesan crusted chicken, potato soup, and crispy chicken bites are insanely good, too. The caesar salad is the best restaurant caesar I've had, and those chicken bites are so crispy and tangy, I can't get enough. At 8 bucks for a large plate, it's a great deal! This was our first-time dining here after I signed up for their frequent dining program and received a complimentary appetizer. There was no wait for two on a Friday night (summer in AZ is quiet) so that was great! Our server John greeted us with bread and a smile. He quickly took our drink order and gave us a minute to look over the menu. I tried a slice of the bread which had great flavor and was different from other steakhouse restaurants. It was almost like a honey wheat that was crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. The butter was tasty too! I ordered the Wild West Shrimp (appetizer) which was so good! Spicy, crispy, tons of flavor and so much food. I paired that with a loaded baked potato but felt that wasn't cooked enough. It was good but not great. The hubby enjoyed a half rack of ribs and a side salad with honey mustard. Sadly, they don't offer 1000 island, but the salad was large, fresh and filled with veggies & croutons. Went to Longhorn for lunch on a Sunday at about 1:30pm. When we arrived there was a 20 minute wait. We put our names on the list and sat down. As I looked around the booth seating close to the bar and in the dining room I was shocked at the number of empty tables. Why was there a wait? I can only guess that management didn't schedule enough staff. When we were finally seated we had a very friendly server who approached our table but seemed very frazzled. It became very apparent that he was overwelmed by the number of tables he had. I don't know if it was lack of experience or understaffing but our lunch took a total of TWO HOURS from the time we sat down to the time that we received our bill. It was a very frustrating experience as we had to continually look for and ask our water for items. We have not been to Texas longhorn in 8 yrs decided today we would. It was the worst services our waitress was Jamie. Instead of listening she tried to second guess what we wanted. Thought herself to be funny not so much. Now to the food. i had a the chicken luncheon sandwich it was so salty. Advised manger she tried to make excuses for it.but she did offer to make a new one I declined due to it took over 30 minutes to get the first one. My husband got the 7-pepper steak salad. It had wilted lettuce and fixing were sad looking. Taste not so great. The bread was hard as a rock. The good things were my coke and husband margarita. It will be never again visit. We both ordered the cheeseburger lunch special. I ordered mine well and my own husband ordered his medium well. His came out completely raw! It was disgusting. Mine was cooked OK but overall the burgers had no flavor, no sauce, way too much lettuce, one skinny single piece of onion and one teeny tiny piece of tomato. The burgers were so big and messy they just fell apart when trying to eat them. The burgers were dry, had no flavor and there was no sauce or condiments on them. My salad had a bug in it. The only thing good about this place was the bread and Diet Coke. The restaurant itself is set up very nicely and has a nice ambience. Our server was excellent.
