Warning: Horrible Collision Repair Experience at Longo Toyota El Monte - Poor Service, Mismanagement, and No Accountability I'm deeply disappointed with the service I received from Longo Toyota's collision repair center in El Monte, and I feel obligated to share my experience to warn others before trusting this facility with their vehicle. I brought two of my vehicles--a truck and an SUV--for repairs following insurance claims. What should have been a smooth process quickly became an absolute nightmare due to incompetence, lack of accountability, and disorganized management. Not only did I have to return both vehicles TWICE because they missed obvious repairs the first time around, but they had the nerve to take both cars back without offering a rental vehicle to make up for their mistake. This meant more time without transportation--caused entirely by their oversight. And let's be clear: these weren't minor touch-ups; they were insurance-covered repairs that should have been done properly the first time. Even after taking weeks to "fix" things, there were still issues with the work. When I raised concerns, management was quick to deflect blame, offering no real solution or sincere apology. Instead, they continually repeated that it wasn't their fault, citing "process" issues as if basic quality control and communication aren't common sense in a professional service business. The most infuriating part was the manager's prideful, dismissive attitude and refusal to accept responsibility. I like protecting people's privacy and so if you're wondering which people were involved the manager with initials KM and the service people with initials FH and GS. I hate that they do this to people who bring them business. They will tell you that they will fix the issue and you just have to bring it back, then they will backtrack and say that's not something they will cover because it wasn't their fault. Just something that you wouldn't expect from a big company dealership. I was also told by their staff they have way too much business and that's why they can afford to just treat customers in this way since they have so much work coming their way. Well I'm someone who wants you to avoid being treated this way. Go find another place or you will not get the respectful treatment you deserve as a loyal consumer. Rather than addressing their clear failures, they seemed more interested in protecting their image than providing real customer care. Their evasive responses, lack of transparency, and unwillingness to correct mistakes without pushback reveal a company more concerned with avoiding liability than delivering trustworthy service. From the moment I dropped off my cars to the frustrating weeks that followed, I experienced nothing but: * Unorganized processes * Lack of follow-through * Poor communication * No accountability * Disrespect toward the customer's time and situation I regret ever trusting Longo Toyota's collision department. Went to Longo to get a fuse replaced. My phone charger blew the fuse for the cigarette lighter. Service writer told me it might not be the fuse and that they would have to perform a diagnostic check because it might be electrical. Told me it was $199.00. I asked what are the alternatives and he told me there were none. Out of frustration I left and went to a local garage a few blocks away. Tony changed the fuse for me and now it works fine. My family is Spanish speaking and they had questions because they value clarity in communication and he was talking to us in a demeaning way and doing remarks. The Longo name has been a good and popular dealership over 30 yrs. Our bought 5 different new Toyota and Lexus over this period, and even recommended friends and family to there. However, the last 5 years, especially after they expanded and built the new service center, we found that the overall experience has been downgraded. The main concern is the service department. They started cutting corners in diagnostic. On the service, and simple problem, they made it looks very professional and diligent. Anything that is a little more tricky and need more time to nail down, they just either don't tell you or just tell you what the OBD2 reader tells you, they don't go in to double check. The result is that you pay for the parts and labor and still couldn't solve the problem. If you bring it back, and ask for explanation, they will tell you, "oh ... A different code triggered". That works for many folks who do not have any mechanical knowledge. Because they all say old cars are like that, there is a lot of fix. However, if you dig deeper, and do your research, those code and parts and inter related, one code showed up, does not necessarily mean it is that problem, or it actually has more problems. There are a few incidents I grow "distrust"... The last one just way over it. Basically, the ABS light comes on, and the dashboard meter went hey wire, I didn't my research, it should be the "ABS system" that went wrong, but it composites of ABS sensor and the ABS actuator. I even plugged in my own OBD2 reader to check, to confirm. However, we still bring it in for them to do diagnostic, the results is that they said is the ABS actuator, and cost close to $2000 for parts and labor. I asked them if they removed the wheels to check the sensor and wiring, they said no, because the "computer" is telling them that. WTH, I can do the same with my OBD2 reader. You need to do visual to confirm. They refused to remove the wheel for inspection further... This is so irresponsible. Just collect $225 for diagnostic fee for 5 min job? Any way, I took it to other local Toyota specialist, they find it is the one of the sensors, it was replaced and no more problem. read more
