This review is for my dad -- Longobardi's is his favorite restaurant for the shrimp marinara. This place has been around since I was a child 30+ years ago. I ordered it for him over the phone from California for Father's Day to get delivered to their house as I couldn't spend the holiday with him. My dad isn't really able to leave the house anymore as he's very sick, but I'm really appreciative that Longobardi's was able to deliver to their house in Poughkeepsie and followed my parents' detailed food requests (i.e. cooking the pasta well done, which a lot of restaurants ignore my requests for and is frustrating for patients with chewing and swallowing issues). The people taking the order were also very patient and happy to explain what the order included. The price was in the $20s but comes with a soup and pasta as well so overall, a lot of food. The meal was also delivered on time which was impressive given the number of orders any popular place gets on holidays. We catered this christmas eve 2017, we bought the penne vodka which was great and a tray of chicken francese which was absolutely awful. The chicken were big chunks, dry, and the sause had no taste. We absolutley love this place, you can see by my last review.I have a feeling when i got there to pick up the food they were overwelmed. We ordered 2 pizzas for the first time last night and let me tell you they were better than perfect! The mozzarella and pepperoni topping was delicious and generous. The sauce was really flavorful and the texture of the dough was fantastic.. as well as the perfectly timed cooking of it. You could tell all ingredients were quality. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Let me add I gave our order to a very pleasant woman over the phone. Our order was done correctly and promptly. This place has been here forever and is a hidden gem. 2 restaurants in one; take out pizzeria on the left, proper Italian restaurant on the right. It does not look like much from the exterior. Nested in a strip mall between Home Depot, Perkins, and a car wash; not the most romantic image of where you want to have dinner, but that is where you are wrong. The interior is dark and handsome with a remodeled bar area. This place has many "regulars" and does a good business every night of the week. The owners will make you feel like family! I have had only excellent Italian meals here. All the traditional dishes like Gnocchi, Penne ala Vodka, eggplant parm (one of my favorites!) and some interesting pasta inventions like "Chicken Longobardi" artichoke hearts with sun dried tomatoes and hot peppers. Great service, large portions, mangia mangia! The take out side has pizza, sandwiches and you can order anything on the menu. One entree will easily feed two people as take out. I grew up with Longobardi's and the taste hasn't changed since 1994. There's nothing bad about it but there's also nothing exceptional. It has your typical Italian dishes like pizza, spaghetti, wedges, lasagna, etc. If you're in the area and you're hungry, go for it. But don't except 5 star quality. read more

My wife had a meatball parm from Longobardi. 30 minutes later she was violently sick. Called the restaurant. Lady was totally in denial saying it couldn't have been the food. You can never go wrong here. The pizza is by far the best in the area. Thin crust. Excellent sauce. Perfect amount of cheese. Dined here recently twice. Had chicken piccata and generally don't finish a big meal but I couldn't get enough. Not to mention the calamari was a delicious start and a big portion. The food is really good very clean place. The people are welcoming. It's a little pricey but you get a nice portion on your plate and the slices are like two slices. I love there chicken Longobardi and pork chops are to die for. I will pay good money for good food and Longobardi has good food m Italian and we like good food. Chicken scaprella is very good also. I know I didn't spell that right but you'll know when you see it on the menu. I think Longobardi is the best pizzeria and restaurant in that mall facility. They blow Nonna's out of the water with the taste and portions. Sorry Nonnas Longobardi's satisfies my taste and my portion size. I have been to many restaurant parties and this one was by far my worst experience. My biggest complaint is that the waitstaff was not very attentive and not experienced enough to handle more than a small table of 7, let alone 3 tables. The staff seemed overwhelmed doing their job when not hanging out in the adjoining room. The waitstaff was also rude when asked for soda, bread or parmesean cheese as if guests were asking for something inappropriate or inconveniencing them. Tables also didn't receive what was included on the menu such as the bread. All the meals were brought out together which meant that some of them were not as warm as the others. My salmon was cold and dry. Several guests shared the same observation about their food. Hot coffee was served cold. Rather than have cups on the table and fill them at the table the staff filled 20 plus cups in another room and delivered them full. Then cream and sugar were brought to the table several minutes later. This is basic restaurant management as well as common sense. A second cup wasn't even offered. When paying for the event, a conversation with the owner was no more comforting. The owner apologized and said that in his 40 years of business he never had a complaint. He admitted that he normally would come into his parties to see how things were going but tonight he was busy with a communion. He told me that I should have brought this to his attention. In essence, blame the customer when you or your staff isn't doing what they should. Sorry Sir, but it is an expected responsibility that you should make time for your customers to be present and guarantee a pleasant experience. Besides at the end of the evening when I went to pay you were sitting with friends talking and laughing. You were also there when I went outside an hour earlier to get something from my car. I didn't know who you were but saw and heard your sole table of 5 in the adjoining room as the restaurant was empty. In a customer service business this was inexcusable. The owner offered me a complimentary meal in the future even after I told him that I live 200 miles away. You could have deducted a meal or removed the ridiculous dollar per person cake slicing fee. You could have done something, anything meaningful, but you chose only to offer an apology, a free future meal, the promise to speak to your staff, and boast how you never had a complaint about your staff. Sorry again Sir, but that was your moment and opportunity to make this right and you didn't. Also, when I commented about the mandatory 20% gratuity fee and that i would not have left such a significant tip for the poor service provided the owner said, "It is a restaurant service fee and the staff only gets part of it." Interesting. I also discovered later that we were overcharged in the number of meals adding to the poor experience. Overall, the food was marginal at best. Bought 2 large pies tonight and garlic knots 1 pie was the usual good Longobardi pizza 2nd looked good until you take a bite burnt to a crisp on bottom (and I like my pizza well done) I will have to give them a break for awhile For them to let that pizza go out they are only worried how much money they are making I like to spread the wealth because there are so many excellent pizza places in my area I will now be choosing between Ginos my favorite always consistent and delicious and Giacomo's and Wagon Wheel so many others to choose from I have pics but dont no how to download them thanks for making my choice easier though read more

If you are thinking about trying this place do not let the negative reviews stop you! The food here is great. I've been here before for business related events and decided to have dinner here. I had the Veal Marsala with veggies and soup and enjoyed it immensely! My son had a mini pizza and didn't stop raving about the size and then the taste of the pizza! He has plans to come back with his friends just for the pizza. The calamari appetizer was delicious! It was cooked perfectly and the marinara sauce which I'm believe is homemade is delish! My only regret is that I didn't take pictures to post. Only 4 stars because of the service.. Our server was very pleasant and answered any questions we had however she was a bit slow when it came to refilling our drinks and water. But other than that I would recommend going here for dinner. It appear busier on the weekends to go during the week. Family friendly atmosphere so while it's a nice place for a date be aware you might be next to some families. It is quite disappointing how low I have to rate this "restaurant". As a former waiter for over a decade, not only was the food terrible, the service was even worse. As part of a party over 20, the waitress was only present for 3 events. These were ordering drinks (which was prompt), ordering appetizers (maybe an hour after we sat), and ordering entrees. Appetizers were served perhaps 40 minutes after ordering, and entrees around 8:30 (around 2 hours after the scheduled arrival time). Once the appetizers arrived is where things took a turn for the worse. As a larger party, one would think (since an 18% service charge is included) that the waitstaff would check in and ask if anyone needed anything, how the food was, or if anyone needed a drink. This was NEVER the case here. More than twenty people sat with empty glasses, and dirty plates. For example, by the time one party member managed to flag someone down for a knife for his calzone, the rest of the party was being cleared. When he finally got his knife the staff was finally present to remove everyone else's plates. Let me reiterate, no one could ever order anything other than their original order. This was because no staff was available for such requests. I should also mention the 18 month old child that was served last, when everyone else received their dinners. Ever restaurant (should) know that young children should be served first. Everyone was waiting to eat while the 18 month old waited for a slice of pizza with congealed cheese and a lazily sliced meatball which was tossed on top. When dinner was finally winding down, the waitstaff inappropriately cleared everyone's dishes while many were still eating, and rushed to bring a cake out. Not only was the food abominable, but the service was even worse. Not once did anyone get asked for more water, drinks, or how their food was. My review is a warning. If you would rather have food flooded with marinara, borderline store-bought soup, and the the worst service you can imagine, than this should serve as a warning. This plaza eatery is a joke and the service is even worse. If you are planning a meal for a loved one, please do yourselves and your family a favor and avoid this so-called Italian food. You would be better off ordering generic pizza takeout. Of the many restaurants I have worked at or visited, I can say this one had the worst service I have ever experienced. Just to give a time frame....Guests arrived at 6:30.....Dessert was possibly served around 9:30. read more
