First visit to this winery and it was great! Cute little country atmosphere (ranch-like) with horses and farm animals. The inside wine tasting was closed for a private party which was a bummer as it was 90 degrees outside and all of the tasting was done there. My friend and I just grabbed a glass of Muscat and found a spot under a tree in the shade and greatly enjoyed our wine. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor and quality of the wine, as I haven't heard too much about this winery before. Our wine server was slammed, but very helpful in getting us taken care of right away. Even let us try a taste before we committed to that glass. Very good experience. Bought a Groupon deal for the wild west show and called to make a reservation. Made many attempts at calling and no one answered. All calls were made during business hours too. I then emailed and after three days still nothing. Had no choice but to call Groupon customer service for a refund. At least they had good customer service over there. Why would you run a business and not have anyone answer the phone all day? It's very frustrating. I hope you train your staff further or better yet hire more people so you're not understaffed. Great ranch ambience, with beautiful Belgian Draft horses in corrals around the tasting areas, and the large barn like tasting building. Super friendly pourers make you feel right at home. The wines are among the best in Temecula, especially the Cabs, Zinfandels and Syrahs. The White Cab is very refreshing, and their red blends are wonderful. But you must try their very special Port. Family friendly, with a play area, but it's large enough that you can sit away from kids, or anyone, if you want to. This is a must stop place in the Temecula wine country. read more

Wow, what a big time disappointment. Upon entering to attend a wedding we thought, "What a nice venue." As we drove further in, there was already another wedding going on across from where the wedding we were attending was to be held. As we parked and approached the building there was the stench of horse manure, well, okay, it is a ranch afterall. After the vow ceremony, which was held outside, we went into the building which was extremely hot and uncomfortable. There are ceiling fans which they probably might as well not even had on. I don't think they made much of a difference, at all. When we had arrived, the food containers had already been set outside. I kept an eye on where they were going to be serving thinking they were going to be filling them with fresh cooked food. To my utter surprise, the food they were going to be serving us was already in there! Really? We arrived at 4 p.m. and they didn't start serving until almost 7 p.m. with food that had been sitting there in the hot weather. I only took a few bites and only because I was hungry. Yuck! The beef was tough and the chicken was dry. The server gave like two leaves of lettuce, okay fine and 2 pieces of grilled zucchini. When I asked her if I may have more of the veggies she gave me another two pieces. One piece of red onion and one piece of green pepper. Really? Now, who runs out of ice for a wedding?!? Warm lemonade and bottled water? Seriously? People were complaining that they were getting dehydrated. Then, we noticed the people who were working, like the coordinator herself and DJ were getting food for themselves. No wonder they were being so skimpy on their servings, they had to have enough food to feed the workers, I guess. Oh yes, when my husband and I got to our table, there was one chair lacking. The guess who were already sitting there said they had told one of the guys working there that the table needed one more chair. They said it had been a while, but he never returned. So, I went over to the coordinator to let her know. I was expecting her to say, "Okay, let me take care of it", right away, but instead, she seemed to have an attitude and said, "Well, there should be enough chairs for as many guest." Really? (again) Okay, so does that mean either my husband is going to have to stand? It was only after I said that, she said, "Let me see if we can find anymore." About 15 min. later, they did bring one. What a shame. It was a wedding, for goodness sake. You would think they would try and offer up their best so that those attending would want to recommend this place to others. If I could give this place 0 stars I prob. would. No, I take that back, it gets 1 star because it has a very nice outdoor area that's great for picnics and it's nice to be outside on a beautiful day. This is where everything goes down hill. We saw the good reviews on Yelp and were excited to try this place. We saw they had picnic tables so we brought a sandwich lunch and ate on the picnic tables. This place is marketed as "the party winery" and it sure was. I've never been wine tasting (I spend a lot of time in Napa, Sonoma, and Santa Cruz Mountains) where people came dressed in 80's garb, and costumes. To be honest, I didn't really care (it was kinda neat to see everyone dressed "fun") but you could tell people really only came here to get drunk. The pours were very nicely sized but the wine was so bad that I didn't end up finishing any of the glasses. Let me say this again, every wine I tasted was disgusting. Yes, disgusting. It was like drinking mushed grapes that hadn't actually been turned into wine. I've tasted 2 buck Chuck that was better than all of the wines on their list. I think the only reason why anyone can say that the wine is decent is because they came here completely wasted already and can't taste the wine (or don't really know what good wine is). The service ... it was between OK and dismal. We went inside to pay for our glasses and the woman inside gave us a decent amount of attention, told us about the pouring, how we could choose which wines we wanted to taste and told us a little bit about the first wine. We wanted to taste outside so we moved to the outdoor area. After standing with empty glasses for 5+ minutes we finally got the attention of the pourer and got a taste of the Cinsault (pronounced sin-so). Read below for my experience with this wine but for now I'll stick to the service. The pourer outside barely mentioned anything about the wine and turned back to all the "partiers" on the other side of the bar. Since we were here to taste wine and not to party we didn't get much attention and moved back inside. They were "sold out" of a couple of the wines we wanted to taste and said "oh, we've replaced those with others." When we asked what were the ones they replaced it with they said "oh, you've already had them." It was a bit mis-leading to have a list of 10 wines, have 5 sold out, tell me they replaced them when they were already on the list. The second most awful thing about this place (the first being the gross wine) was how little their staff actually knew about the wine. When I asked them questions they knew little to nothing of the technical aspects of it: when it was picked, what would be good to pair with, how much or what kind of oak the wines had seen, etc. The most awful thing happened when I asked about the "Cinsault." I had never seen one of these in California and they described it as a "Bordeaux" grape. I was a little skeptical since just having been to Bordeaux and never seeing this grape and also knowing the 5 Bordeaux grapes are Cab Franc, Cab Sauv, Merlot, Malbec, and Petite Verdot. I looked it up on Google to check and sure enough, this grape is NOT a Bordeaux grape. It's grown in the complete other side of France and in South Africa. I went back up to the staff and asked how they can call this a Bordeaux. She looked at me funny and said "what do you mean?" I replied "well, it's not from Bordeaux." Again she looked at me funny and said "It's mostly grown in Africa but we grow ours here." Well duh you grow yours here. That's when I informed her that in order to be called a "Bordeaux" wine the grape actually has to have come from Bordeaux. Again she looked at me completely confused and in the most serious reply stated "Oh. That's how they determine what to call a Bordeaux?!" Are you kidding me?! Someone working at a winery should know how wine is classified! If you know anything about wine, or like wine, do NOT go to this place to drink wine. Go across the street to the Red Barn and try some good wine over there. But do bring your lunch, eat on the picnic tables, and pet the horses. That's about all this place is good for. This place is not a very upscale vineyard. There is an outdoor tasting area that is kind of like a stone bbq bar that you would find in someone's backyard with 3 bartenders who are not very personable or friendly. The seating area is comprised of a few wooden picnic tables. They give you about half of what other vineyards give for tastings and charge the same price - $15 for 5 tastings and you don't get to keep the glass. In the summer it's very hot and they don't have any outdoor fans or anything to help keep you cool except the shade of some trees. I'll admit that the horses were one of the reasons why I was interested in coming to this place but in the end I regretted it because the smell of horse manure was so strong that it ruined the wine's flavor and there were flies everywhere! read more

Love. Love. LOVE this place. My husband and I got married here on 4/27/14 and are ecstatic with how well it all turned out. People keep telling me how great everything was, the atmosphere, the food, the location.. everything. Laurie is amazing at what she does and answered my many, many questions with kindness... never frustration. She stepped into our planning process about half way through as the previous person had left, and I was freaked out by this because we had to go over everything again, but once I met her I felt comfortable with her completely. She is on top of everything, very organized, and gracious to our bridal party.. but firm. people wander during weddings and rehearsals and she kept people wrangled without being rude. She brought my husband and I our favorite drinks and our bridal party too. We are also wine club members and love their wine. So if you're looking for a wedding venue and like the country feel this is the place for you. You'll be in great hands. Thank you, John & Longshadow and especially Laurie and the catering staff. I am sad to write this review, because we use to really like this winery. We have some friends that are members, (who even had their wedding there) we have gone there many times and know the regular bartender and so on. What we use to love about this winery ( back in day) was that they were friendly, welcoming, laid back and not so "stuck up" like most of the other wineries. As a local we felt it was a little gem tucked away from the crazy masses that generally flock the wineries on weekend. FYI it is far from that now! they have become like every other place in the worst way possible. Another reason why we will NOT be returning is unfortunately because of a single staff member (some crazy bitchy blonde) i wish i got her name but she is the WORST and should not be working in any job that has anything to do with customer relations. She is nothing but rude, obnoxious and did i say rude?!!... Even our member friends are disappointed with the direction of this place. I guess money is far more important that customer loyalty. This place feels like it is run by a bunch of amateurs who are that cat standing in front of a car going 60 miles per hour with their headlights on coming toward them. The grounds are nice, I guess. They have more of a ranch setting than a vineyard setting with horses, etc. I guess I didn't sign up to go ranching that day. Anyhow, the building where the tasting is, is quite new from what I gathered. However it was not well run or organized. The young blonde at the front desk LITERALLY did not know how to work the credit card machine. I am not sure she did much else but greet people. While she was nice, she had the blankest stare and admitted she didn't know how to run it. So what was she being paid to do? DIdn't someone give her the 9 minutes of training needed to know how to do this. Anyhow, the guy from behind the bar had to do it while also tending to multiple other people tasting. He was nice, but didn't seem to know much about the wines. This tasting was VERY expensive at $15 considering the quality and price of the wines. At most, this should have been a $10 tasting. They called it a Premium Tasting and there were no "premium" wines, whether in terms of cost or taste or any combo thereof. They also had no oyster crackers or anything else to cleanse the palate. It is a very bare bones operation to be asking $15 a pop for below average quality wines. I cannot imagine they get a lot of repeat business or a lot of people buying their products. They also have a "gift" shop that is uninviting, dark/dank and feels very crowded where you can also taste or purchase items you can find in cheesy gift shops in souvenir shops or airports. In all, very gimmicky, overpriced, below average product, no frils/barebones/cheap. It would be like staying at the Westin but be offered Days Inn amenities and quality. read more

We planned and celebrated our daughter's wedding here last Friday 10/9/15 and it was by far the best experience ever. We planned the wedding in 6 months and Laurie Caty the wedding coordinator and planner was completely amazing. She was responsive, provided accurate and correct information and worked her tail off on the day of the event. She has an incredible calming and in control demeanor and ensured our day went off without a hitch. It is one of the most beautiful AND affordable venues in all of Temecula Wine Country. The cermony space, and the barn were both incredible. EVERY one of our 100 guests commented on the venue. They described the wedding as the best event EVER and thought the wines were delicious. If there was any critique it would be related to the food as the revues were mixed, however most people enjoyed it. The caterer is their own, in-house caterer with lots of options, however some of the appetizers were cold. The food, and two alcoholic drinks per person is included in the very modest price which is unheard of in wine country. I cannot say enough about this venue, Laurie, or Mike the most incredible bartender on the planet. All of my guests loved him. Thank you Longshadow Ranch and Winery for such an incredible day. I took my kids to this winery for the first time this weekend given the family friendly atmosphere they advertise and it was horrible!! They had a face painter that not only treated my children with a poor attitude but wanted to not serve them after a 1.5 hour wait. She nagged at my children because when it was their turn my daughter did not know the page number of where she found her design. Not acceptable! I really felt that she thought that she could yell at us because we did not look like the norm customer there. Not only that, but she accused me of cutting when really the 2 ladies in front of me where the ones that cut (each of which had 3 kids!). I talked to both of the winery owners after all this happened. Christina seemed like she understood my point, but I have not heard from her(check your email!) We looked for a kid-friendly winery to visit, and found Longshadow Ranch between LA and San Diego. It was worth the drive. Mike was our friendly wine server. I liked every wine I tried. My daughter found the horses, an alpaca, and a goat, so it is definitely kid friendly. Unfortunate disappointment...After having visited such wineries as Ponte, South Coast, Cougar, Wiens, Danza, and Wilson Creek I could not believe this place was a winery among them. The grounds upon first entrance were calm and beautiful. The picnic seating area was welcoming with the backdrop of numerous horses grazing in their pens. However, entrance into the tasting room took me into a different world, vibe, and atmosphere. This place could have been any local bar at first glance, and the servers and music seemed to support and cater to such atmosphere. Loud 70's rock music filled the room with a flat screen TV showing the video of the music being played. A large birthday party surrounded one end of the tasting bar with loud "whoohooos" and "shouts of "yeah!" as the group did "Boot Shooters" of port in a chocolate boot. It emitted a feeling of a bar-like behavior that made me uneasy to approach the pourers. I wanted to taste wine not watch people drink for the simple result of being intoxicated. Once at the tasting bar, I soon realized I had to jockey for position to gain the attention of a pourer, of whom all seemed to be running up and down the bar filling drinks, much like the feeling at a local bar during happy hour. I could not believe how overwhelming tense and uncomfortable I felt. A friend of mine gave up after not being acknowledged to purchase a glass of wine, and I was so disheartened as this was his first trip to a winery. The pourers did not offer any assistance with the wine list, nor did they give any information about the wines we chose to taste. EVERY winery I have been to made sure the pourers talk about their wine because that is what they are selling. However, Long Shadow seems to be more interested in making sure people drink wine and plenty of it no matter the quality so that people will simply buy it. I think the beer industry may be a better route for these owners. Party bus after party bus dropped off groups making it even more uncomfortable and loud by the tasting room. Young women and men started hanging out in the courtyard with whole bottles and an engagement of flirting ensued. My boyfriend and I quickly moved to the picnic area so as to try to enjoy the glass we bought and so we could hear each other talk. I have never written a review on Yelp until now. I have never felt as negative about a food/service place like this. read more

This is a great place to get married! I had my wedding here 11/23/14. It was reasonably priced. The venue itself is soooo perfect for weddings because it has a lawn in the back for the ceremony and a great indoor space for receptions. I loved that we could walk from the ceremony into the reception area. It was an AWESOME layout for a wedding -- everything is close together including the bar, dance floor in the middle, big 'barn doors' to the outside. I felt like all the guests had a great time as well! People who talked about the wedding also told me how nice the bartender was! Was one of our favorite wineries, however sounds like you need to know someone to get service, walked in with a party of 6 and they turned us away because they were closing in 10 minutes..family from out of town who we brought(and we're from OC) and wanted them to try their wine..(oh but they did sell people they knew tastings (we were in their small tasting room since the barn was hosting a wedding)..we were standing to wait for service for about 5 minutes before that) sounds like they don't fully get the concept of "wine tasting" we taste your wine, we buy bottles of them. Perfect atmosphere. I think one would be hard pressed to find a place with better ambiance for SoCal wine tasting. This place is super cute. This is definitely a must stop if you are doing the Temecula wine tasting thang. I came here recently with some friends for an afternoon of wine tasting a.k.a. boozing on the cheap. I'm not going to pretend like I am a wine expert so there'll be no commentary on the tannins, blah, blah, blah... In my opinion, the atmosphere is the major draw for coming here. You can do your tasting in a small room inside the tiny building OR you can enjoy your wine al fresco! So awesome! They have an outdoor bar set up along with picnic tables. Perfect picnic atmosphere! They don't mind (and seem to encourage) people to bring your own yummies to enjoy while sipping their wine. A friend of mine was prepared and brought along a bag of goodies from Trader Joe's. We were very happy campers at this place. Further adding to the setting are horses that look like Clydesdales but aren't and some goats chillin' in the back. The goats are super cute...check them out on your way to the bathroom. It appeared that they also do carriage rides and other animal related activities. Alas, we did not partake in any of that since we aren't 5 years old. But good to know if you wanna make it a family day. Now as for the wine, I must admit that out of all the places we hit up that day, I can't say that I enjoyed the wine here very much. It wasn't bad but I don't think I got a very well rounded tasting. Which leads to possibly the major drawback to this place....the weather.... The day I went it was about 80 degrees out. It was very nice. Not too hot by general weather standards but totally NOT the weather for drinking red wine unless you also enjoy smoking cigarettes on a hot summer day while in the middle of downtown Los Angeles. Gross. Anyways, it was way too warm to be drinking anything other than chilled white wines and rose stuff. I am not very big on white wine but because it was so warm, I basically stuck to chilled stuff and avoided the reds that were sitting there simmering. Thus, I don't really think I got a very good idea of the quality or taste of their wines. Pros: Very friendly staff. Atmosphere. Goats. Horses. Reasonable prices. Clean bathroom. Picnic tables. Not snooty. Cons: Weather may deter you from trying the full range of wine they offer. Sunburn potential. Wine offering did not seem to be very extensive (shortest one I remember of the weekend). I suspect that in the middle of August this outdoor lovely-ness is not so lovely. Tips...sort of: They also sell wine by the glass or bottle. That may be the way to go instead of doing the tasting. (Based on the weather scenario as described above, I think I would've been better off just getting a glass or two of something here instead of wanting to try different tastes but then feeling deterred because of the warmth). There is a little outdoor stage area...someone else noted that they have a calendar of live music...that seems worth checking out further adding to the fun atmosphere. I know the star rating is pretty high for winery considering that I didn't really rate the wine very highly. The 4 stars is honestly mostly about the atmosphere. The setting is just perfect. Rustic charm. Pretty scenery, etc. I think this setting is the type of experience you imagine you might have when you consider going wine tasting. I will definitely be coming back soo 4 stars! Just wanted to add something else that may be helpful....the pourer (?? what are they called at a wine tasting???) had more of a "bartender" vibe than a snooty wine purveyor vibe. This is good if you are there for the fun and experience rather than to critique wine. Also, the man must've had an excel spreadsheet in his head or something but they don't do tickets or stamps or anything here for the tasting. The guy just kept track of it all in his head!!! I was in a group of 5 and we all had the tasting which is 5 pours....5 x 5 = 25 "pours" and somehow he kept track of it and knew exactly how many each of us had. Compound this by all of the patrons at the joint and this is way, way too much math for me but that's a lot to keep track of...thus, bartender dude must have excel spreadsheet memory. And for those of you thinking this is an opportunity to try to get over on the man, the guy TOTALLY remembers how many you've had. Case in point, a friend of mine tried to go over and get a her 6th drink and he says to her as he pours her another, "This is your last. You're done." (very casually and not in a mean tone) She thought she'd pulled a fast one, but really she hadn't. He's just cool enough and not a d***. read more

My favorite winery on the tour that we were on. BOOK yourself a tour on Grapeline tours.. Ditch the worries of not being able to become a fool and drink responsibly. This place was a little far out front he other wineries but it was the best hands down. It encompassed all those in which I love, a farm atmosphere with horses and goats beautiful landscape a picnic area and WINE! The wine here was good as well. This place is ideal for a wedding or any sort of party. i wish that there was a hotel on the grounds. NOTE: if you have allergies take something for it because it is a little dusty.. We noticed that there were children here. Not my idea of a get-a-way to bring your child while you wine taste but it's thoughtful of the winery to create a child friendly environment. I still think it is weird to be wine tasting with your kids. read more

First, I've been here for their Bonfire Saturday Nights and have always had a good time. That was pre-pandemic and I think you need reservations now (not totally sure) so it may be a bit different. Anyhow, this review is primarily regarding their brunch. It wasn't great by any means. My girlfriend and I split the Waffles and Quiches. Online it's kind of presented as charcuterie style w various meats, cheeses, and fruit. That is what we got, in a box. Ok, no problem, you get your box and can sit wherever you'd like so it's easy and makes sense to package it this way. Here's what we got: 3 very small cold bland quiches, 2 crunchy sugary waffles (they actually weren't bad IMO but sugary and crunchy not hot or fluffy), 3 slices of salami, 1 strawberry cut in half (yes...1), 2 slices from a log of goat cheese (tastes like good quality goat cheese), I think 3 or 4 blackberries, a spattering of blueberries, precut, store bought looking cheddar squares and grapes. That was $30. My friend and I didn't finish it. She went to the barbecue place they have and got nachos. Would I do the brunch again or recommend it to a friend, definitely not. The grounds are beautiful and I love that they have animals. Thankfully they have the barbecue place to get other food, it did smell good. Oh, on another note, the only white wine they had was Sauvignon Blanc or Rose. Thumbs down. The Port was not bad, but the other reds I tried were subpar at best - to each his own when it comes to wine. Welcoming and friendly staff... they told us it was OK that they were out of the CabSav because it was not that good! $15 for tasting, I'm sorry that's just ridiculous - but it seems to be the standard in this region. Amazing friendly staff every time I go. I joined their wine club maybe a year ago and still extremely happy with this winery. I have a girls day once a month down to the wineries and the servers know exactly what we want. It's nice for them to remember us and our likes. Long Shadow grounds are peaceful and beautiful. They also have horses and goats you can enjoy looking at. A few weeks ago a group of us girls packed a picnic and enjoyed the outdoor picnic area where they also do bonfires on some weekends. The day of our picnic there were several other families including some tossing a football and another family with frisbees. This was the first time I noticed a play area for the kids. On this particular day we needed to wine taste in the lower tasting room because there was a wedding going on in the upper facility. I would truly refer this as my favorite winery in Temecula. Just down to earth happy fun staff, no wine snobs here! read more

The atmosphere and ambiance is great. Our first time here on Memorial weekend. The view of the ranch was so nice I just wish the customer service matched. We were a bit disappointed that the tasting room was so small. And the ladies serving the wine did not tell us anything about the wines. It was like ordering from McDonald's, here's a menu tell them what you want, they give a cheap pour and done. Too bad the wonderful ambiance of this place doesn't match their customer service. Definitely check out other winery in the area for better wine and nicer customer service and wine experts. read more

Longshadow Ranch is my favorite winery in Temecula. I prefer sweeter wines and their selections fit the bill perfectly. I am not a Chardonnay enthusiast, but their "Whitefeather" Chardonney is somewhat on the fruitier side and does not have that musty, oakey flavor that most people prefer. It is one of the few Chardonneys that I enjoy. I enjoy their Merlot but what I think is the best wine they produce is their Port. At the tasting room you can get a "Bootshooter" with the port wine placed in a chocolate boot - fantastic flavor. Their Port wine is my choice for the best tasting desert Port that I have found to date. I love it. The wine has a myriad of flavors that pour through your tasting experience. You sense wild berrys/blackberry with a finish of nuts and spicy rasins ....... just outstanding The people at the ranch really make this the tasting room to visit. They are super friendly and knowledgeable. The winery provides live music on many of the weekends. Belgian Draft horses enhance the atmosphere and just make it a great place to just hang out - it has that quiet ranch feeling .... kick back and stay awhile. read more
