From coffee creamer to toiletries to fresh fruit, I was very happy with the selection. Also, I asked for a few food recs from the staff in the wine/liquor area of the store, and he offered several great suggestions that were unique to Kansas City and not national chains.

Shrimp & Sausage Boil: A stew of shrimp, sausage, and corn. The ingredients were of very good quality; the shrimp were firm and fresh, and there were over a dozen in one serving. The sausage had a rich smoky flavor, and the corn was sweet and juicy. The seasoning was basic garlic butter, with black pepper to remove any fishy smell and enhance the aroma, resulting in a subtle creamy flavor overall. Mashed Potatoes with Gravy: The mashed potatoes were smooth and creamy with a distinct buttery aroma. Unfortunately, the gravy was a bit too salty. Mixed Vegetables: Purely boiled vegetables, completely unseasoned, too bland. I used them to dip the mashed potatoes, which made it absolutely better. Fried Chicken Tender: Scalding hot. Although the crisp wasn't crispy enough, it was still very aromatic.

This place was so weird…read more The guy at the register seemed like, hungover or something, and it just... took him a while... I hope he wasn't having a mini stroke. The item I purchased rang up at a higher price than what it said on the shelf. Never a good sign. Everything was really expensive, except for a few things on sale - like, I managed to find a single-serve yogurt on sale for $2.50 instead of $4.59. They have some bulk herbs and teas, but the selection is very, very limited. They have a couple water dispensers in back which is nice, but there's no price listed anywhere. I really want this kind of place to survive..... but it's just so pricey; and then the service wasn't great either.

What's your inside the store has a pretty cool layout they got some cool this kind of items on sale near the check out. This place has a great variety of snacks munchies they even have non-alcoholic beer and it even have THC fuse drinks a lot of stuff I've seen before at other health foods but some I've never seen before as well they even have a Fair selection of wine. Staff here was overall helpful and friendly. Store was very clean and I did like the layout it also wasn't too busy at all but the aisles can't be a big claustrophobic. Overall solid recommend for a healthy store

I love Aldi. I really do. If this location sold alcohol, it…read morewould get 5 stars. As others have pointed out, Aldi is owned by the family that owns Trader Joe's. Many of the products they sell are the same thing, but with different labels. This grocery store helps plug the gaping hole of shopping options in downtown and the near downtown neighborhoods. Items are cheap. Produce is generally fresh and high quality. Meat choices are good and the quality is high. Aldi carries a great selection of cheese, including many gourmet varieties for a decent price. German specialty foods that come in are usually yummy. I love, love their frozen spaetzle meals (like gourmet German mac and cheese) and their savory artichoke tortes, for example. Worried about the neighborhood? I've never, ever experienced anything but friendly and kind people here, of all races, ages and nationalities. Good cart karma is a frequent practice here - wherein people sacrifice their quarter deposit and share their cart with an arriving shopper. Just be sure to pay it forward. Checkers are super fast and efficient. I'm thankful there's a downtown option to compete with Cosentino's high prices and Grand Slam's limited selection of actual grocery items. Shoppers - bring your debit card or cash. No checks or credit cards are accepted here.

They nearly stalked me my entire time at this store, in numerous isles. I finally finished shopping and proceeded to the checkout. Tweedle Dum went up to the cashier (who had just finished checking out the person in front of me) as I continued to unload my groceries on the conveyor belt. The cashier hands over person-in-front-of-me's receipt as Tweedle Dum simultaneously asks him, "are you checking out people here? are you open?" as if i'm cosplaying preparing to pay for my groceries. I should have said something to him but obviously there was something wrong with him. Avoid this place. Wanted to save a few bucks on groceries but it is not worth the treatment. Would much rather spend more money at Whole Foods and skip the profiling.

Last time I went in there and stopped at the service desk to get a Powerball ticket. I stood in line behind a couple other people and waited for 10 minutes for someone to come over and man the service desk. The people in front of me never got waited on as far as I know. After 10 minutes I walked away because an employee still hadn't shown up to serve anyone. I then went to the deli counter to buy some crab salad. It was closed. I don't know why it closed early, but it did. I don't mean 5-10 minutes early. More like 2 hours early. I didn't go back to this store for months. I always drive by it to get to Hy-Vee even though it's about 4-5 miles up the road. Sun Fresh is so much closer to my home but I travel miles to get to Hy-Vee because service is non-existent at Sun Fresh. Well, silly me, but I stopped in Sun Fresh two days ago, once again to buy a lottery ticket and a couple of quick grocery items. As I'm walking up to the counter I don't see anyone other than a customer who is already at the service desk. I stand behind the other customer for a few minutes and it's like deja vu because there is nobody working the service desk. I try to make eye contact with employees who are working the checkout area but they are quick to divert their eyes to avoid me. I don't know if it's because they can't be bothered or because they are embarrassed that customers can never get service. Either way, it's not acceptable and I am done with this store. I understand that it's hard to find employees who are willing to work, but can't they at least say, "I'm sorry for your wait. Someone will be with you as quickly as they can" instead of avoiding eye contact with people who are waiting for assistance. If the business owners are so flush with cash that they don't need customers, they should board up and shut down. Another option would be for them to close the service desk. Discontinue selling cigarettes, Lottery tickets, and whatever else they have back there. I should also add that I was a loyal Sun Fresh customer for YEARS before they closed their location at Vivian and Antioch. I would say that this is the most scathing review I have ever written. When a business treats customers as an inconvenience (if you can even get their attention) it's time to walk away and find a place where your business is appreciated.
