She's got online scheduling, accepts payment via square so I don't need cash, truly she makes it super easy. Not to mention she's got her own product line that's absolutely aces. The cherry lifesaver product saved me when I had a bad wax experience elsewhere right before my wedding. If you suffer from bumps or in-growns she can take care of that! Been trekking from the East Bay to see Shelley for waxes at least 15+ years. I've tried a few other places over the years but I always end up coming right back to her. I've used her Lighten up Bar, Cherry Lifesaver and Chiara Tonic for ingrown hair prevention. All of the products are exceptional. My only problem (and it's a good problem) is with the Chiara Tonic. I've purchased it a few times and I rarely, if ever, need to use it because after seeing her, I never get ingrown hairs. I have dark skin, curly hair and I'm highly prone to ingrowns and hyperpigmentation. I get none of that after seeing her. If you are anywhere in the Bay Area go see her. She is well worth it. And now she's right across the street from Montgomery St. station.

I knew exactly what I needed and certainly wasn't bothering the sales gal behind the counter. You could tell she was starting to wrap up a long day, putting all sorts of goodies in large gift bags. I even said something like, "Woah, looks like you've been busy." Her response, "Oh yeah, we're having a customer appreciation day tomorrow." She found my shampoo pretty quickly, so no complaints there. However, when I asked for a few small conditioner samples to take on vacation, she looked at me like I had just taken a dump on the counter. "Umm... no, we don't have any," she said. I asked, "Are you sure?" 'cause sending customers home with samples is something Kiehl's does quite well. Hint: it makes them want to buy more! But here's the issue: I was charged one amount at checkout, and then about 15 minutes later, my final credit card transaction showed a different amount. It's not a huge difference, but it definitely wasn't what I was initially charged. Totally my mistake for not asking for a receipt. I should've gone back to talk to them about it, but I was already pretty drained from walking all day.

My first visit was in the morning and I was able to try their scrubs and lotion (they have a little sink station). They smelled great and my hands were so soft. They stayed soft until the evening when i went back. And yes, I did wash my hands and use hand sanitizer throughout that time gap. The sales people were friendly. Some of them too much so. Upselling is definitely a valued practice here. To the point that it gets annoying and almost made me not get anything. Many phrases of "if you buy two more of these items, I'll give you this for free." So on my second visit i left with a scrub, lotion, and several bath bombs. Easily over $100. Needless to say, this place is pricey. I really am happy with my scrub and lotion. The bath bombs were cute but I wouldn't get them again, for the price that they are. Howd I get lured back again? Sales associate mentioned they were doing free facials the next day. Well, i don't mind paying a visit to the fisherman's wharf on my final day for a FREE facial! Again, it was a play on words. The facial turned out to be just a chance to use their truffoire product. Advertised as a white truffle skin care. Afterward, my face felt smooth. The associate helping me this time couldn't stop talking about how it's cleared up their acne. While i went to eat and walk around, i read the reviews and looked up the original seller. This stuff is expensive but they seemed to be offering it for a deal. Sounds too good to be true. But eh, i splurged when i went back for my final visit. I felt like chum in water cause the upselling turned up to a level 12. It was overwhelming and stressful. I finally conveyed i only wanted the cleanser, toner, day cream, and facial peeling. Does it work?? Well, i have used the products for a month now and I do notice that my pores are smaller, skin brighter, and I've had virtually no breakouts. I do believe the chemicals they use are really potent so i use it sparingly. Along with the fact that it's expensive and I'm not looking to make such a big purchase again. Like I mentioned, the upselling is annoying and so after being persuaded to get more than what i had expressed an interest in, I finally made my purchase. Before leaving, what I assume was the store manager pushed another pitch: because of my purchase, I could choose a free item from their "sister store." Some robot store i can't remember the name of. The "free item" became "50% off," and more lines like, "If you get this, I can give you that." Thinking back on it still makes my eye twitch. I wasn't interested but they insisted. Ended up dealing with more upselling. The free item turned into 50% off and if "if I get this. I can get this. Great deal...etc". Recalling it makes my eye twitch. I finally left but the experience left me flustered. I found this place through Yelp and I was surprised because I've drove past it at least 1k times…read more The cosmetics store sits in the parking lot of KP Asian market but you can't see the entrance from the street so it's easy to miss. Once you pull around the back there's a decent sized building with cosmetics, skincare, hair care and home goods (think pots, pans, serving trays, utensils, EVERYTHING). The cosmetics section has a ton of Korean skincare, makeup, and masks for the face, hands, and feet. Even hair care and mens products. I love the variety, I spent over an hour testing, smelling and browsing. Some advice before going: know your skin type, know what skin problem you want to solve, and set a budget. Their Korean skincare products range from $10-$60+ each. I splurged on moisturizer ($100 for 2) and got a less expensive skin peel ($20) and toner pads ($10). The rest I spend on 6 masks and the total was $149. The woman at the counter listened to my skin issues and recommended products based on our short conversation. I've had zero issues with what she recommended. The toner pads broke me out, but SURPRISE the woman suggested twice I choose a different product and I didn't listen. I'm goin to check out their exchange policy and will update after!
