Thanks to fellow Yelpers' reviews we drove out of our way from the beach to this amazing dessert place for my birthday treats! They have lots of desserts to choose from: handmade cakes, boba teas, smoothies, ice cream, and shaved ice with all kinds of toppings. This place is owned by a really sweet Asian family. We got 2 pieces of cake; a taro cake and a mocha cake. Both were moist and delicious! I especially like the taro cake, bc of its unique Asian flavor usually found in bubble tea, but it totally works as a cake flavor! The cake is moist, and the icing, so light in texture with the right amount of sweetness. I'm so glad we found this hidden gem, and we will be back next time we are in the area. read more

My sister and I were out looking for sweets, and we found this fun place. So we stopped by to see what we could find!! When we walked in we noticed the fun decor and the cool wall they have for pics. The clear tables are very trendy!! There were a few people ahead of us, so we looked at the menu... Talk about options!! They had blue bell ice cream which is one of my favs, snow ice, boba tea, macaroons, cake, and more. There was several things to choose from. So its a great place to bring the family, everyone could find something they like. I ordered the taro, red velvet, cookies n cream, and pistachio macaroons, an oreo cake, and pistachio cake. It came to $21. The macaroons were all forkin fantastic to me. The taro and red velvet tickled my tongue sincerely!! I tried them in the car and then felt greedy because i was ready to go back for more... Lol. I told myself, just wait for another day... When i got home i was lowkey mad because i ate them all, and i should've followed my gut instinct and went back while i was there!! They were crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.. Lawd have mercy!! Anyways, the oreo cake was cold when i first tried it, so i wasn't feeling it at first, but after it came to room temperature it changed the game... Mmmmm, it was good... The pistachio cake wasn't my first pick but it was still ok. I don't like pistachio but the macaroons I'd eat any day, so i thought the cake would be the same, but no... Lol. You live and you learn. My sister got the peanut butter cake and she let me taste it. We're certified greedy so we shared because we couldn't miss out on anything. If i could've tasted everything in the store we would have. Don't judge me, lol!! Smh. Oh so back to the cake, if your a peanut butter lover the cake would knock your socks of... I'm not into alot of peanut butter, but i can say it was still tasty... Stopped by for some dessert to go as we were too full from dinner to eat-in. Service was wonderful from both the young gentleman and lady working the counter. They gave us suggestions on what cakes were their favorites as well as answered any questions we had about the flavors. We had the fruit cake and the Oreo cake! Both were amazing!!!!! We have ordered two whole birthday cakes from the Look Up Dessert Cafe ( both were red velvet). I am not usually a big fan of red velvet cake, but their cake is phenomenal. The cake layers are moist and even and the frosting is delicious and not overly sweet. Absolutely love it! Going to come back soon and try a slice of another flavor of cake and their bingsoo. Such a cute cafe, I have been meaning to come for a while now. Stumbled upon their Yelp page because I was looking for boba and so glad I did. When coming here, my intent was only to get boba..that didn't go as planned. Look Up Dessert Cafe boasts a wide variety of sweets and treats, so we sampled a bit of everything. Boba: 3/5 - we ordered a matcha green milk tea with boba and a classic milk tea with boba. They were both iced, no option for adjusted sweetness. The drinks themselves were good, a little too sweet for our liking, but overall the milk teas were good, creamy, and tasted like what we had ordered. However, the boba was a soggy mess. Either over cooked or sitting for too long, the boba balls were boba mush and was awful. Would order the milk tea by itself but without boba. Macarons: 4/5 - got the earl grey, mint choco, pistachio, and ube taro. They were all really yummy and flavorful but for texture, only 3/4 had the crunchy, just soft, chewy texture. One was a bit too soft for my liking. Overall, I'd want to try the other flavors since the macarons had great flavor. Napoleon Cake: 5/5 -- the flavor for this cake was amazing. It was soft, yet crunchy, sweet, balanced with some fruit! So good, would definitely recommend this to anyone. Only thing I'd recommend would be to add a bit more fruit but that might compromise and make the layers of the cake soggy. I definitely would recommend this cafe based on their dessert offerings (not boba) and can't wait to come back to try some of the other desserts they offer! read more

We were so excited to eat real Bingsu that I failed to get a photo! I lived in China once upon a time, and Husband had been traveling to Asia a lot in recent years for work. When he came back from his most recent trip to Korea talking about the shaved ice dessert topped with red beans and sweet cream , I remembered enjoying it myself so long ago. Thanks to the internet he simply Googled and found this place. It's authentic and offers blue bell ice cream or a variety of ice cream cakes for those who like to stick with American tastes. The place has a nice modern ambiance. The staff is very friendly. I grew up in the Philippines and this is legit Ube Cake which is better than the Red Ribbon Ube Cake. The cake is moist, and tasty. This place is a definitely a gem! I love everything about this place from the decor to the friendliness of that staff all the way down to my very last bite of delicious treats! We tried a little bit of everything on our visit. We had hazelnut, ube and raspberry macarons which were all amazing. We tried a slice of the Nutella handmade cake. Also very good, definitely want to try some of the other cakes. They all looked so fresh and yummy. We also got a red bean bubble tea which was hands down the best bubble tea I have had. I can't quite pinpoint it but maybe it's the earthy tones and muted colors with subtle pops of color that makes this place so comfy and warm. It's a dessert shop that ranges from your typical self serve froyo, boba tea to an array of desserts such as cakes and snow cream parfaits of Asian flare, a bit of Italian with their Coffee tiramisu snow cream parfait and French fare of macarons. The macarons and cakes are all made in house. If you're looking for desserts different than your typical run of the mill flavors, this place is without a doubt a palate pleaser! I am so thrilled that a place like Look up cafe came to Chesapeake!!! You walk in and it is a ultra modern feel with a simulated fireplace in the corner against a bushy green wall. And FINALLY, a dessert cafe with a healthy assortment of Asian desserts, including Bingsu, a Korean shaved ice dessert with an assortment of toppings. Their bubble Tea is also awesome with some fresh fruit flavors which they make with REAL fruit. My husband ordered honey dew with bubbles (aka boba) and it tasted exactly like the fruit. I ordered the mango and actually got pieces of mango coming through. There is also an assortment of macaroons, cakes, smoothies, a frozen yogurt bar as well as coffee and tea. Wow is all I can say about this hidden gem. So glad we stumbled upon it on my daughter's birthday looking for a place to find a dessert late on a Saturday afternoon. We have went every day for the last three days. We have sampling several of the macaron flavors, several of the cake flavors and falling in love with all of their Boba teas. (In our opinion frozen is the way to go!) I highly recommend this place for not only their wonderful customer service amazing product but also casual laid-back atmosphere. 4.5 stars We've been coming to this place for a few years now. One of the reasons is because the staff are really nice and friendly. Also for regulars, they have a punch cards for every $5 purchase so you can get a free drink. The cafe looks trendier than Yo Mama. The place was already beautiful when it was Yo Mama, but since they renovated and changed their name a year ago, they added decorations and the cafe looks brighter. While they still serve bubble tea and milkshakes, they now have snow desserts, homemade macarons and cakes. We haven't tried them yet however we always enjoyed our bubble teas. I always get my usual cantaloupe bubble tea every time I visit. Even though there are a lot of bubble tea cafes that are opening around the area, Look Up will always be my favorite go to place whenever I crave for cantaloupe bubble tea. read more

Was craving boba the other day while around Chesapeake. I remember my cousin recommending this place. Walking in, I thought the aesthetic was cute. Floral wall for selfies, clear tables and seating, and a display filled with sweet treats. They offer 2 sizes, small (16oz) or large (20oz). I just wanted to try so I ordered the small lychee milk tea w/ boba. The young lady making the drink said they used soy milk. The overall taste of the my drink was satisfactory, maybe because I didn't like the taste of the tapioca that they used. But I liked the flavor of the lychee. Previously known as Yo Mama, Look Up Dessert cafe has a new look and new menu items! they still offer frozen yogurt, bubble tea, and coffee items, but they also offer snow cream parfaits! This is super exciting because I don't know any other place that serves this in Hampton Roads! We ordered a small New York Cheesecake snow cream parfait. The snow cream is like a super fine and cmilk ice cream in snow form!! Not icy like a snow cone. It was a pretty generous amount for $6.50! It was topped with Nilla wafers, fresh strawberries, whipped cream, a cheesecake square and condensed milk drizzle. We've also tried their key lime pie and cheesecakes from their dessert display. Definitely worth a visit if you're craving sweets! They also serve french macarons in various flavors. Came here with a group to try it out since it's been 3 years. I got a pistachio cake, pretty expensive for such a skinny slice. The cake didn't have a strong pistachio flavor, couldn't really taste anything in particular, pretty cakes overall. I got a soy iced chai latte. First sip and it hits me with all the sweetness. Maybe syrup? It was way too sweet. I tried their parfait and that was also way too sweet. It's not my type of cafe, but I can see that its popular with kids. Tried to make use of the drive here and ordered a frozen mint chocolate boba shake- would rate it 2/10. The boba was so watered down I could barely taste either of the mint or chocolate. Go somewhere else for boba. So, to prevent what happened to me to happen to you- call ahead to see if they are actually providing the services they say on their menu before wasting your time and gas to drive all the way to this place. read more

I was happy to finally come here because I had it bookmarked for a while. I accidentally found it one day and have been going ever since! Their macaroons are so good! There are multiple flavors to choose from and so far I've enjoyed the ones I've tried. My advice would be to get there early. Once the macaroons are gone, they're gone until they make more the next day. The inside is very clean and welcoming. My kids enjoy going in sitting to eat their desserts. I came here based on the good reviews I saw on Yelp, but ended up being quite disappointed. I have recently moved from Toronto so finding a treat I've been missing was surprising. We placed our order and the pistachio cake out quickly. It looked great, but tasted a bit artificial and very sweet. The tiramisu shaved ice came out shortly after and I was not impressed. This thing had cereal in it (which the menu did mention), but also had bits of caramel in it or something which made it wayyyy too sweet and not at all like a tiramisu. It also came with a small slice of tiramisu which was frozen solid. I would definitely not order this again, I would give this dish a 1 star. Based on my experience with the two things I ordered... I will not be coming back. I found the food here overpriced and would not recommend it. read more

All the cakes I've needed for birthdays or special occasions have been from Look Up Cafe for the past few years. They taste amazing and aren't as sweet as other bakeries. The favorites of the family are the fruit cake and Napolean cakes, but I've tried them all and you can't go wrong with any of them. Whether getting a whole cake or a single slice, they're reasonably priced. The shaved ice and blended boba are great too. Service is always great here and the staff are welcoming. They uses to have frozen yogurt once upon a time, but have replaced it with yummy blue bell ice cream which is better. Don't get me wrong...I still love my froyo. Their cakes are moist and yummy. Our favorites are the matcha and pistachio. Their shaved ice is so so refreshing and unlike the traditional shave ice you may be used to. It is creamy and flavorful! Try the mango or coffee. Smoothies and Boba are good. The Boba pearls itself is a hit or miss, according to my son who is a self-proclaimed boba connoisseur. Last but not least...if nothing else, you have to treat yourself to the macarons. So many flavors to choose from!! And you can't beat the price! Coming from Cali where they can cost as much as 4 each...these won't break the bank. Also...they can package them in cute little containers that would make a thoughtful gift for someone who loves sweets. I wish they had some sort of loyalty card for people like me who frequent often. This is such a unique and sweet place, no pun intended. Great location, and very spacious inside. Plenty of seating at tables and couches, with a fun feature wall. The ice cream was amazing and so was the snow ice cream! I've never experienced anything like it. I thought the regular size parfait was too big but the snow ice cream is so light I had no trouble. The service was great, and so was the atmosphere. The cakes looked out of this world too. May have ordered a chocolate hazelnut slice for tomorrow because of how wonderful it looked. They gave several reccomendations on what the most popular items were as well as their personal favorites. I tried 6 different macaroons and they were all delicious!! They have a great selection of sweet treats--macarons, cakes, boba tea, milkshake, froyo, etc. I ended up trying their frozen yogurt, hazelnut boba tea, and green tea cake. Frozen yogurt -- you cannot go wrong with froyo. So there's that. Boba tea -- ordered hazelnut boba tea. VERY SWEET to my liking. Next time I'll ask for half or no sugar added at all. Green tea cake -- TO DIE FOR. Perfect dessert to end your night with. Not too sweet and just pure goodness. Definitely ordering that when it's available. I've been a frequent customer to lookup cafe for quite sometime, and my only disappointment is that they have gradually made the cake slices smaller, particular the Taro cake and I think it's boarder line cheating the customer, all of the other cake slices are pretty sizable, just take a look at the difference the next time your in the cafe. read more

Ok so the bubble tea and macarons are great. This review is about the state of the establishment, what a mess! There is crap everywhere. There is a cooler with drinks in it tucked into a weird nook with old cardboard holding it up. Like folding chunks of cardboard under the cooler. Boxes all over. A broken down cooler next to the cake display cooler and behind that is just a bunch of crap! Like random decorations and it's just so messy. They took for ever to make a tea and the girl had no gloves on! She reached into an ice bin with a scoop sitting in it, touched the scoop un gloved and tossed it back in after she put ice in the tea. If her hands have anything in them it is now in the ice! In a time of a pandemic, cleanliness should be your number one priority. Just saying. read more

I can't believe out the many times I've gone here I'm finally writing a review. I fell in love with this place knowing that they are conveniently close by and they are the nearest dessert shop to satisfy my sweet tooth cravings. They are owned by the most sweetest Koreans that are talented in baking delicious cakes and macaroons. For most people that are used to the traditional cake with a whole lot of thick icing, the cakes here are different. It caters to my taste pallet and flavors of what me as an "Asian" pacific islander I'm accustomed to. This place has a lot to offer, whether u want to get frozen yogurt, specialty drinks, tea, boba, and snow parfaits. I love that the place is so inviting and they have seats that can accommodate groups of people and a little table and chairs for the little ones. They have a television mounted with the nicest floral wall backdrop decor and wall decor. They have music playing in the background. It's not overwhelming to study here. Studying with the subtle rock music in the background.. is helpful. I ordered here for my husbands oreo birthday cake. It's spongelike and moist. The creme and the icing is light. The oreo flavors seriously shine here. The purple taro cake and the green tea cake are my favorites too! These kinds of cakes are my favorite because it's the type of cake that's not overwhelmingly filling. I also like the fruit cakes too! They sell yogurt with all the delicious assorted candies, fruit and toppings to choose. I love it when they have the mango and cake batter flavor. Another good dessert they have is the ice cream snow. I like the mango one! I come here often after my kids get their teeth done across the street from the dentist. They get a sugary treat for no cavities. I love the kid friendly tables for my kids to sit and that the place is nice and never so busy. So my son and I love bingsoo/bing su and we finally had an opportunity to check out Look Up's and boy were we beyond satisfied!!! These other places around that offer "bing soo" does not compare to the ones from up north. Not at all. Look Up's snow cream is great!! I chose Mango Pineapple and my son chose Strawberry. We each got "smalls" and let that be a warning to you!! The small is actually quite plentiful and more than enough to share with someone else. I can't imagine what a large looks like and if I'd be able to finish it. But i know myself. I've met me. I probably could finish a large. =) When we walked in on a Sunday it was dead inside but it was bright, clean, and cheery. Immediately my eyes gravitated towards the grassy, garden-y, flowery wall. So pretty and creative to serve as a background for your handcrafted desserts. I happily obliged being the typical Asian iphoneographer that I am. I also noticed how spacious and simply decorated the place was. Not too cheesy or overloaded with too many colors. Noticed a couple of their froyo machines not in operation, but the flavors available were typical. Of course, to the side, I noticed all the cake cake cake cake cakes (and it wasn't even my birthday) as well as the assorted macarons (and btw, if you call them 'macaroons' I swear we can't be friends and you'll get the meanest side-eye of your life from me!) so I knew I had to bring one or the other home. The macarons won. At first I was scared they'd be dry and hard since they were sitting out but 2 days later they're still chewy and flavorful at home. I'll have to try one of their cakes labeled as homemade next time. Oh, they also serve boba, but we weren't here for that. The sweet Korean family who own and operate it are so kind and friendly. They greeted us with a genuine smile and made us feel welcome. I was surprised at their music selection for this place but it worked. We were jammin'! I'm a little sad they're sort of far from where I live, but that could mean a good thing, too. I'd probably be here a lot! Which brings me to my next and final thought. Cutest little dessert spot!! I had been wanting to try this place for the longest time. I happened to be in the area so I couldn't resist stopping by! What caught my attention here is that they sell bingsoo (Korean shaved ice). They're the only place in the area that sells it! They also sell various other desserts including cake, macarons, frozen yogurt, and bubble tea. My boyfriend ordered the New York Cheesecake snow cream (bingsoo) and I ordered the strawberry one. The small is more than enough! I actually wasn't expecting it to be so big, which is a plus! They are very generous with the toppings. Both of ours were really good! The fruits on top were fresh and the ice was fluffy. It did start to get way too sweet toward the end but I somehow still couldn't stop haha! I also ordered two macarons. Their flavor choices really caught my attention so I had to give them a try. The ube and green tea were amazing! Some of the best macarons that I've had! So soft and flavorful!
