Stay away. Don't waste your time. I've been in the bar/restaurant industry for 8 years and even own my own business (sick brag I know sorry) so I know the difference between a bad night and a bad operation. This? Absolute trainwreck. Drinks? Fine. Views? Gorgeous. But everything else? Trash. Food came out on cafeteria-style trays, glasses were dirty, and our server looked like she wanted to walk off the roof rather than take care of guests. I get that it's Labor Day weekend and nobody wants to work, but wow, that was baddddddd. We slammed our drinks and got out. For a Marriott charging these insane prices, this level of quality is embarrassing.

Brian the bartender ROCKS. Thanks for the warm welcome, with the warm cider. Cheers!

Great views, music and atmosphere! Enjoyed a drink before dinner but could've stayed all evening

This place shouldn't be popular yet it is probably because of its location and the view. Service is awful.

    overpriced drinks with a view

The view is the only good part about this place. You go up the elevator and a man just stares at you and doesn't even ask for your id until you realize. The hostess was on FaceTime and also said nothing to us. We proceeded inside and stood in line at the bar. Two people walked up to the bar while we stood in line and were helped before us. So much potential here but terrible service and overpriced small drinks.

The staff is very nice and polite. The view is incredible, you have a panoramic view of Boston and it feels very upscale. The drinks were a bit of a contradiction. Not super tasty, presentation was underwhelming, and I was really surprised how can a $20 dollar drink came in a plastic cup. I can't comprehend. The Call Your Mum cocktail was not super delicious, as the ingredients might suggest, and the citric acid was too much, my lips got a little burned from it. For a rooftop bar of that caliber, I just expected things to be more consistent with the upscale vibe.

Food is nice. There is not a lot of variety to choose from since I went for brunch, but the foods taste great. Staff are fantastic. It's a nice igloo looking out to the port, giving it a very nice view for a beautiful date, especially at night! Will be back at night for a different feeling!

Ranked one of the top five rooftop bars in the city of Boston. Pricey, but well worth the view! I came here for an event, and the view was stunning. There are several areas in the bar. One side has the harbor view and the other side has the view of the city. The bar has a huge variety of cocktails, and wines. We also got a lot of appetizers to share. The food was pretty good. Service was nice. Great place to spend some time at night.

Ask the Community - Lookout Rooftop

Is there music at night? What vibes?

There is music although I cannot remember if there was a live DJ when I was there (Wednesday night). It was insanely loud and crowded just FYI! A club atmosphere at night.

Do they play music in the daytime?

Yes, top 40 hits and radio like music.

Can someone with shellfish, peanut & tree nut allergies eat here?

Yes. My son has all those allergies and was able to eat from the brunch menu

Do you have to make reservations to go to the rooftop bar?

    Yes

Do they ID or take fakes?

Neither me nor anyone in my party were, but that may be a case by case basis. It doesn't matter if you're 21.......

Can they accommodate for gluten free dietary restrictions? Their online summer menu doesn't mark anything that can possibly be adjusted to gluten free. I'm celiac and just want to know if I can eat safely here

We have gluten free bread for any of the sandwiches. The truffle fries, tostones, shrimp cocktail, olives, & both salads can all be made gluten free as well.

Does this place ever stay open past 12am?

    Yes

    Is there a dress code?

Nope! Not that's publicly posted ! Perhaps, when it's a special or private event. Dress [weather] accordingly or to impressed is your choice.

Is there a separate charge for entrance or is it the usual pay for what you eat/drink only?

There was no cover fee when I went there

Do you serve brunch on the rooftop or is it just drinks?

Yes. We had a great brunch with a nice view

Do you have to book a room to access the rooftop bar?

No, you don't. Although, making reservations for an Igloo is highly recommended.

It was quite busy due to the tall ships on a beautiful and sunny Saturday afternoon, but I was happy to have made reservations a week prior. This restaurant is known for an eclectic Asian seafood cuisine, but they also have a few meat options such as a duck breast which was recommended for larger parties to share. Since it was just the two of us, we did have some cocktails which I thought were OK not great. What we did enjoy were the Japanese fried chicken, I highly recommend this and it was perfect for two people to share. The pan roasted dayboat scallops were also delicious but a little bit on the salty side, and the roasted beet salad was also good, but lacked some savory notes. Due to the unexpected wait, they actually comped our dessert which was very nice of them. Overall, I did enjoy this restaurant and really liked the view of the tall ships. I think if we decided to come again, we would probably come back on either a weeknight or maybe in the fall/winter. It can be pretty expensive as well but I do feel this restaurant is of quality. I came here with no high expectations on sushi and it was over the top! Every bite was a burst of freshness and flavor! It was truly worth the price. On the other hand, we did sushi nachos, chicken lettuce wrap, and Rangoon. These apps were extremely mediocre for the price. The cocktails here are wonderful and are worth the $20 My reason for 4/5 stars were for the mediocre apps that I didn't think were worth the price. And the service, we didn't receive bad service but I truly believe that when dining at places like this I like to think I'm paying the high cost for the ocean view and the good service. Our server really lacked personality, never asked us how our drinks or food was but only come to the table when we needed to order something. The Tall ships are in town so the restaurant is probably busy. While this presents new challenges, it also gives most of the employees an opportunity to make more money so I'm not putting a lot of stock into that being the reason why the service was so poor. I asked my server what they thought about these two dishes and they didn't immediately say I shouldn't get the tuna burger, which I find fascinating given how absolutely terrible the dish it is. As you can see from my photo it is literally an entire tray of french fries and then a tiny little Tuna burger which was fine ish? Pretty dry but I was just astonished at how many fries we got. And they were like a bad version of McDonald's fries. It was hot and humid outside, and I was begging for water. Every single time the server came over I had to ask for water, despite having an empty glass that I strategically put at the end of the table. We had a service animal with us and we did ask for water for her which she forgot , but honestly that didn't bother me much because we should have brought her our own water. There were no server assistants, or managers , or busses to fill water I guess ? It seemed like this girl had an entire section to herself, and she did not seem very happy. This was an overwhelmingly disappointing experience given how expensive everything was, and with so many nearby options we don't feel any reason to ever go back. I think my photo says it all, have you ever seen so many fries on one plate ???? One positive : the drinks were amazing.

However, when a place starts to think that they no longer exist to serve customers but rather that customers are lucky to eat here they will quickly go down hill-- frankly a sign that it already has. Arrogance is rarely rewarded in this industry. And this place is not good enough to be arrogant. The pluses do not outweigh the minuses. Our other opted to go off on his own. We ate. The food is wildly overpriced. $9 for 2 slices of a baguette with tomato puree. I make this at home and the food cost is about $0.75. The other items weren't quite as absurdly priced but I found the pricing for the pan con tomate idiotic. The food was solid overall, not amazing. The service was okay from the waitstaff but somewhat intermittent. The experience overall left a bad taste in my mouth. I was happy when it was over.
