I had gotten a recommendation from a co-worker about how wonderful the Lord's Kitchen was. So I decided to try it. The place is well hidden. If I remember correctly google maps was wrong. The burgers weight is after it has been cooked. Don't go overboard!!! The burgers are huge however, in my mind the burgers were dry and just OK. Personally when I'm in the mood for a burger I want in sopped in grease. I'm not looking for healthy. The sides were really good however. The french fries were freshly made along with the onion rings. Be prepared to pay for refills. Also, you have to ask for napkins. I thought that was a little odd. All and all it was OK. I have lived around San Antonio all of my life and I have eaten a lot bean burgers. I own a tour company that goes to restaurants and I get a lot of ideas from people on my tours. So, I went her a couple of months ago on recommendation from a guest. Am I glad I did! This was, hands down, the best burger I ever ate! After 14 minutes after placing my order I received the appetizers. Unfortunately one minute after that I received my food. The hamburger tasted great as I last remember it. But since I was directly under a fan my home cut fries were cold within the first five minutes. One thing I cannot understand about the waitstaff is that you have to go to the counter to order and pay for your food. But yet, they bring the food out to your table. One thing that was delightful was that one of the waitstaff came over to our table twice during our stay. There that was a delight to see that some people still take pride in making sure their customers are being treated well. If at all possible try to order the lunch special is comes out saving you a couple of bucks in the end. The table was very clean and the salt and pepper shakers were extremely clean not clogged up or nothing. But one thing that did kind of confused me was the restroom. When I walked in I thought I was in a seafood restaurant. I do have one WARNING about this location. If you walk in from the west end of the establishment, please be careful, because there is a humongous air conditioning unit right at eye level. read more

Went here today for the second time. On a scale of 1 -10 the total was an 11. Excellent burgers, the fries are to die for and the lemonade tastes fresh squeezed. I didn't write a review the first time but this place deserves it. Our food came out very fast, it was totally excellent, the buns are unique and nothing was dry. My girlfriend and I tried this place and from the look of the pictures everything looked so good and it truly has the potential to be if the meat had an once of flavor salt and pepper even . Not only has the lord blessed the spatula of the burger flipping going on here, but the after taste is heavenly. I was on my way to New Orleans and stopped by here on a recommendation from a friend. It was a really good burger. Had a half pound burger with a fried egg on it. Really tasty. Being from California I thought it was really good and tasty. The lady who served me was extremely nice and was shocked I was from California. Told her I traveled 1300 miles to try her burger. Decided to cure my burger craving and give this place a shot since I recently saw it as one of the tops in the city. Good thing I used my military tracking skills to find this place because it's in the cut and I'm to old school to have a gps, I did try on my phone but the stupid phone was way off. So the I got the ghetto burger which is really chili since to me that's the benchmark for a burger because you have several things to get right or mess it up. I found it odd that it's topped with shredded cheese but it worked good. The patty was great, seasoned good and cooked nicely and the chili was good even though I like mine a bit more spicy. Next the fresh cut fries which I am a fan of. The finisher was the sweet tea, they did have lemonade but not sure if I saw soda. The bad thing was the no free refill. When I pay 12 bucks for a burger and fries, it seems nickel and dime to charge .75 cents for a refill. It's good I beat the lunch rush because if I had to wait long I'm sure I would've put down the sweet tea before I got my food. The last thing was the parking, while no parking lot you can park on the street. Just watch the no parking signs, don't want to be towed. So when I decided to go here for lunch, I hadn't had a burger in a long time and a coworker suggested Lord's Kitchen to me. At first when Siri was all like "You have arrived" I was like, "Wait, seriously?" The location is not going to win any beauty points... but DANG this was a simple yet incredibly satisfying burger! I had the 1/4 lb. lunch special which came with fries and a drink. I ordered a lemonade which was pretty meh and admittedly small compared to San Antonio standards, but oh well. The burgers come with standard veggies free, all other add-ons (like cheese or bacon) extra. I do agree that for the bottom price point charging extras for these can lead to a pretty expensive burger, but in all honesty, the base burger is so good that adding all those extras is hardly necessary. I added one slice of cheese, hold the onions, and called it a day. When the burger and fries came out, I thought the burger looked very ordinary but I was drawn in by the glistening, obviously hand-cut fries. When I dug in, it became clear that this burger is hardly ordinary. The seasoning on the meat was exceptional and all of the components were perfectly proportioned. So often I order a burger where something is falling out or you can't taste each element but that was not the case here. Even though the ingredients seem "normal" and classic, somehow Lord's Kitchen manages to ace it in a pro fashion. More than happy to seek out this little shack again in what feels like the middle of nowhere for such a satisfying experience. read more

The place is small the line is long today's adventure 37 min from ordering to time to table. Instead of bringing individual burgers out he waits till the entire group is ready. I guess it can be nice for the before and after lunch crowd. Speed is not their forte. The burger is above average or at least it's what I'm told. Burnt on one side and the egg that should be flowing with goodness had the yoke completely cooked. To make the experience complete is dealing with the owner who's customer service is like the burgers hit or miss. The worst service I've ever received from a local restaurant. Apparently I was inconveniing the man working the counter when I placed my order. Very rude and slapped my change on the counter. 1) Waited an hour and fifteen minutes for our meal after ordering (and the place was not crowded). after waiting 15 minutes in line to order. (hour and a half total) 2) My wife and My lunch came first, then the appetizer and daughter's meal 20 minutes latter. 3)My 7 year old daughter paid for a refill, then was paying for a friends refill when she was accused of not paying for the refill. Causing her to cry and not finish her meal. No apology from Senile tea clerk. 4) My hamburger bun was stale, (Not toasted) just flattened on grill with cajun seasoning, I can tell the difference. It was also cold. Hot dog if luke warm from boil, not grilled. 5) When I asked for a to go box was given a piece of foil. 6) (the best one of these) The owner asked if everything was and I let them know politely how disappointed we were with the experience (including how the staff made my daughter cry), he just said "Well, you're one out of a hundred, God bless" and left. This was my first visit to the restaurant, so I decided to order the salad, which was less than expected. I can understand not rushing to make a perfect burger, but my salad order took 27 minutes, which I splurged for chicken. When I finally received my salad, everyone at my table couldn't believe how small it was, not to mention the chicken was almost non existent. My friend and I went there for lunch on Saturday April 5th 2014, and spent $30 for two burger combos. Small portion of fries and onion rings and the burger was nothing special. What really upset me was being charged 75 cents for a refill, on anything, including tea. I work in the food service industry (Sysco) so I KNOW how much it cost for a fountain drink. They charge $1.50 for a 160z drink in a Styrofoam cup and charge 75 cents for a refill, that's $2.25, when it costs them roughly 10 cents. Talk about a rip off. I'm a Christian so I don't think Jesus would be okay with ripping people off. Want a bigger and better burger for less money, try Longhorn Cafe. This was my first and last time eating here. Could be owner who knows either way for the amount of trouble you go through to park, and the area it Is in you would think they would be a little more welcoming. The food itself was good not the best burger I've had. Actually you can go up the road to commerce and visit Mark's outing if you want the same caliber of burger with an actual parking lot and a lot more friendly of service without the price gouging. From everything from refills to grilled onions there is an extra charge which I wouldn't mind if guy wouldn't have been an ass. There is a big misconception about The Lord's Kitchen. Let me clear it up for you: IT IS NOT A FAST-FOOD RESTRAUNT!!! All the burgers are made upon ordering, not a second before. If you want fast food, I highly recommend a chain of your choice. Have time when you eat @ TLK. The food is plentiful, delicious and fresh. The menu offers ground sirloin burgers, ground turkey or chicken breast. Hand-cut fries & onionrings are also offered, but are usually dripping with grease....I am very happy to order the Mama Belle 1/2lb. special when i'm there....Any burger with beans is my fave! Add a little bacon & it's simply devine! The owners are sincerely kind people. It is one of my favorite places! oh.....get there early to ensure your dessert....Lilly's homemade AWESOME brownies! The restrooms are one person at at time, so if you decide to drop a bomb, please submit a courtesy flush with each dropping! Air freshener is also provided. If you are on a lunch break, call your order in at least 30-45 minutes ahead of time to place your order & always say you will be there in twenty minutes to assure your order will be ready since the staff is small & can easily get overwhelmed at lunch time. They close early monday-wed (3pm) and are usually open til 8pm thurs-sat. Closed sundays. Always call to make sure they are open before you drive down there (just my advice). read more
