Been coming here since 2002! Can I tell you how amazing it is for great Mexican food in the middle if the night after a night of drinking! It's always open and even on Christmas night! It's a definite plus! Portions are generous and it's yum yum good!! I think when the guys are cooking, there's a little more in the burritos and carne asada fries and chips! Ask for sour cream to go with the carne asada burrito. The carne asada fries or chips were amazing and great for sharing. It's a great place and I hope everyone is too scared to come because the lines will be longer than it already is. This Place is Awesome. I just moved to Spring Valley and I can't believe how good this place is. It looks like your average taco shack but the food is absolutely delicious and consistent. Whether it's 2 in the afternoon or 2 in the morning my California Burrito is delicious and that Green Hot Sauce is fantastic. The service is really what makes it though. First off I came here because of the reviews. But by my own experience I will not be back. I got 3 tacos. One potato and 2 ground beef. $5 for 3 mini tacos is absolutley ridiculous. Then they only put onions and cilantro on them. Guac is a whole $1 extra?!?! Anyways I got the tacos and they only had lettuce and cheese on them and they didn't have the soft taco shell they had the hard and STALE yellow corn ones and on top of it the service was unprofessional and rude. No smiles, no how can I help you. Just.. "Are you ready to order or not?" It's my first time here and this is how you speak to customers? I was already put off by the prices for a very small amount of food and then when I got home and pretty much only had lettuce on my tacos I was angry. So much for outstanding food. read more

Very bad service called on the phone and they didn't even answer with loretos taco shop. While being on the phone with them it sounded like the lady did not want to work at all. I went in and the guy had just taken out the chiles from the grill wrapped them on aluminum foil and gave them to me in my hand instead of in the bag.. they were super HOT and I ended up dropping them and they didn't say anything or care at all. This Place used to be good. The Customer Service is very poor. When you at the window they are taking someone elses order. Then help you take paymemt and in between take another order.They dont even turn away they take the order infront of you. They forget you made paymemt and want to charge you again. OMG they have the best Bacon Breakfast Burrito. It has eggs, bacon bits, french fries, and cheese. Its huge and filling. You will not need to eat until dinner. The Tacos de Papa (potato tacos) are delish. I wish they had rolled tacos de papa. Weve tried several other items here and all were great. Only down side....Ive ate here for dinner and its a different cook. My family all ordered bean and cheese burritos. We normally scarf them down but not one person finished it. The beans where cold and tasted different than during the day. They are open 24 hours and probably the only taco shop open in this area with these hours. read more

The flavor is good, authentic mexican. Everytime I have ordered pollo asado either in a taco or quesadilla it's always extremely tough, old. It's a shame... if only they would cook to order. side note: you have to pay if you want more than 2 salsas for you meal. read more

Everytime someone comes to visit from out of town, we take them to Loreto's. And all those people LOVE Loreto's. My girlfriends are even jealous that I got it so close to home! I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the red chicken tacos. Best things ever!! The carne asada fries are ridiculously good and the breakfast plates/ burritos are the BEST cure for a hangover! lol the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was their fish tacos. I used to order them all the time - they'd take a while to cook, but they were soooo worth it. But I guess they've been trying to work on their timing, and not tying to make people wait too long and well..... unfortunately the fish tacos have taken a dive. I can only speak for the "red " chicken tacos..... Delicious! And brilliant! Loved in San Diego my whole life and never had tacos like this. The chicken seems to be simmered in "moms" homemade red sauce. Tortillas fresh and crispy with white and yellow cheese. Service was amazing, very friendly and helpful. They have a deal of 3 carne asada street tacos for $8.50 including tax and theyre so damn good for that price. santanas has amazing street tacos but they're $5 each unless its tuesday or thursday. Loreto's has a way better deal and theyre open 24/7. if you're ever hungry at any time of the day i recommend the 3 mini carne asada tacos theyre cheap and so good plus the hot sauce here is really good for a fast food place. normally fast food mexican has really nasty hot sauce that just tastes like water with spice and color added but not at Loretos. loretos has great hot sauce. ghe green is more flavorful but the red is a better sauce all around because its spicy with a similar amount of flavor. damn i love this place i've gone to get the 3 tacos so many times at any hour of the day and its the perfect amount to satisfy my hunger. the first time i went here it was because i was up late with my friend at 2am and we were so surprised to see a food place open and we went here and were not disappointed. this place is busting. read more

The food here is AMAZING. The customer service here is HORRIBLE. I'm still giving 4 stars because it's a taco shop, you are in and out and dont have to sustain prolonged time of rude service. The food is what is important. However it will never NEVER get 5 stars from me unless the owners listen to the reviews and do something about the service. The girls that work the day crew are far superior in service as well as cooking. You can get the same burrito the same day but in different shifts and the size and quality is unmatched and completely unequal. The food is fresh dont get me wrong but it is the assembly. It doesnt matter if they have a line through the drive thru or are dead. The night crew just doesnt compare. On that note, everything I get from here is on point. I usually prefer the Beans Cheese and Rice burrito. My wife likes the Texano, which is REALLY good. The tortas are great. When you come through here I would recommend doing it in the afternoon. But either way just dont have any expectations on service, dont expect a smile, and you will be fine. read more

Not the best, not the worst. I love carne asada burritos but this is not their strong point. They do make good adobada burritos though. Be careful about using your credit or debit card here because they take forever to close out their batch, which means they authorize, but dont actually charge your card till days, sometimes over a week later. So if you spend 20 dollars, expect the authorization which temporarily holds the funds from your card, but be prepared for the funds to be put back on the card because they take their times charging. Then, if your not careful and watching your account, expect that charge to take place when you thought it already had, and you only have 5 dollars in your account. So your 20 dollar meal will end up costing you 54 dollars because now you have an overdraft fee. read more

Since moving away from our ol' Spring Place apartment in Spring Valley adjacent to Bancroft Drive, I have never been able to find a taco shop as EXCELLENT as Loreto's. From their authentic and Ohhh-so GOODNESS burritos (carne asada, chicken, etc) to everything else in between (fish tacos, taquitos, flautas, etc), I often find myself comparing other Mexican dives and eateries along my travels to Loreto's hands down. Fond memories of falling in LOVE with MEXICAN cuisine in general and having a deep admiration for Loreto's authentic taste and cooking techniques is why I am an HUGE foodie of exotic inspired dishes! After indulging at a local dive bar with my buddy Marisol, we ended up here. It's funny because I thought we had traveled a long way but apparently it was just up the street from where we had been. This place is a joke. They can't ever get the orders right, the employees are rude, they have attitudes that don't belong in customer service. They call the customers liars, because we call to tell them our order is wrong. Yet they have no problem charging us for the extras we were paying for. Live really close by and have come here from time to time. Good portion sizes for the price. Usually get the California burrito but he guy who closes at night recommended the Texano burrito and got say worth it. Went in this morning for burritos for the office "Machacca burritos". I ordered seven burritos and they were ready in 12 minutes "two thumbs up". The place was clean but small. When I got to work everyone said they were the best burritos brought in so far. Excellent service and great tasting food, you can't go wrong with that combination. read more
