I walk down Armitage often and always stop by Lori's but have never left purchasing shoes - in fact, their prices are not competitive and you are your own sales associate. DSW has better, cheaper prices (on the exact same shoes sold at Lori's). Great accessories section though - always find myself buying monogrammed necklaces. read more

Thank goodness I don't live closer to Lori's. Thank goodness I can't just "pop in" on my way home from work... Though definitely hit or miss, I find that usually Lori's has a great selection of shoes and bags. I don't ever go in here looking for something specific because I think that their selection is actually a bit random, but it's definitely a good place to go when you feel like doing some shoe shopping. Lori's was a lifesaver on my last trip to Chicago. My boyfriend and I were there for a night from Austin to eat at Alinea, and I'd forgotten to pack heels. We were also rushed, with no extra time to get downtown or to a mall to pick up appropriate shoes. So, in the middle of a rainstorm, we looked frantically on our phones for places near the restaurant to buy shoes. We found Lori's and saw some of the brands they carried, and decided to head over. They were about 45 minutes from closing for the day, but thank goodness they were still open. Every staff member heard my story and immediately set out to find the best shoe options to match the dress I was wearing. They watched my things as I browsed and found me sizes. My boyfriend also needed shoes, and while they didn't have any men's shoes at the time, they told him where he could find some good ones close by. I ended up finding some perfect black heels for the occasion, and they also happened to be nearly half-off. They didn't try to sell me the most expensive shoes that didn't look as good just to get more money out of me. They even held onto my wet poncho (thanks, guy by the train, for the poncho!) for me. We paid and got over to Alinea just in time for our reservation, and my shoes were fabulous! I had a great experience at Lori's and would absolutely go back. read more

I came into Lori's a few days ago after lunch with a friend nearby. They had a ton of stuff on sale so it was a little crowded with so much inventory on the floor. I was able to find a really cute winter jacket on clearance for $50. I'd definitely recommend popping in here if you're in the Armitage shopping area just to check out their latest additions. read more

I love Lori's. They're still a little pricey, but you can get some great deals here. They're always on the up and up with the trends, and the accessories and purses here are great! Some of my favorite shoes (mostly Jeffery Campbell) and purses come from here. The jewelry is mostly overpriced in my opinion, so I don't buy it. The people who work here are friendly, and always willing to throw something on hold for you or offer an opinion. What more would I ask from a shoe store? read more

I really, really, really don't understand why people like this store so much. I find the selection of shoes disappointing, the store is so jam packed it's hard to take it all in, the sale section is very blah- with no great deals throughout- but the worst part by far is the sales staff. My friend and I went in to peruse shoes for her birthday- a salesgirl started helping her and grabbed a pair of her favorite shoes in her size. She didn't leave her side for one second, which was slightly overwhelming. My friend had lost her debit card the day before and told the salesgirl that she would be back with cash the next day. The salesgirl said the age old pitch that 'this pair would definitly be gone by tomorow.' Seeing as how we both have worked retail, we knew where she was going. My friend told her that she didn't have any form of payment on her, at which point the salesgirl told her to ask ME to pay for them! What? We left imediately. I live down the street and have shopped here for years. I guess that means nothing to the snobby sales people who treated us rudely today. Wish I could give 1/2 star since the merchandise is actually cute. I bought jewelry and the cashier did everything she could to ignore us while fawning over someone who must have been a "VIP". I nicely asked if she could show us some jewelry after waiting in line. She said, "just look at it yourself." Ok. Weird. We were in happy holiday mode, enjoying the day and weather, etc. so we ignored the rude behavior. We chose some things off the counter and went back in line to purchase. After patiently waiting in line a second time which the cashier clearly saw, we decided to wear out. She was still super snarky to us. After ringing us up, I cupped my hand w a smile to have her place items in my hand- in a polite way, trying to be helpful / save a bag/ box-and she deliberately plopped all the jewelry on the counter, one by one, totally leaving my hand dangling in space! It was actually funny how she left me hanging, forcing me to struggle with the teeny earrings and dainty chains on the glass. Even my shy friend commented how rude the staff was before I said anything as we exited. Guess they have all the customers they need here? With that treatment, we will buy elsewhere. read more

I got some dare-I-say bedazzled Enzo heels (I may break my neck, but if I do, at least I'll do it in style) for like $60. They are adorable. Even though it's more crowded, I like the layout of Lori's better than a DSW. I don't like to shop in an expansive warehouse with very high ceilings and too many size 5 shoes. Makes me feel as if I'm at Linens-n-things. I like space for dining, but for shoe shopping, marching up and down aisle after aisle is not appealing. Lori's has oodles of shoes, sandals, sunglasses, purses, and a smattering of other accessories. Prices are generally cheaper than most other places, but there are still lots of shoes I will never be able to justify spending so much money on. I am happy it's so far away from Lincoln Square, otherwise I would blow a lot more money here! read more

Great selection and decent prices. Wonderful location and no stuffy pushy salespeople. Lori's is second to Nordstrom, but a great place to find unique gorgeous shoes! This place is crowded on a weekend. Prepare yourself. You will find some great deals in the sale sections as well. Excellent brands including Nina and Charles David and MaxStudio. You can find a lot of the shoes at Lori's on Amazon a lot cheaper, but when I was looking for my ohhhh so comfy Berni Mev's, they were the only place that had them, so in my book they are A-OK. They also carry Miz Mooz shoes which are pretty trendy these days. I probably wouldn't purchase much else there. read more

I once saw a shoe at Nordstrom that was an amazing sandal in 3 colors. I didn't want to pay $100 for flat sandals. They were Jeffrey Campbell. A year later I googled them and Lori's popped up showing they were there. I went there. They didn't have my size, but their other store did. They shipped them there for me and they were about $34. That was the best. I feel the rest of the stock is so-so. I would probably go back but feel I might be like the others who say they don't fnd anything. But I am a happy customer. read more

A lot of great shoes, but they never have anything in my size, so I decided to have them ship a pair in from their other location. I'm not sure where that is, but they assured me they would be there for me in 2 days. I paid for them then, and they said they would call when they came in. I still have no gotten the shoes I already paid for. I called and talked to a sales associate, and all she said was "there is no set day or time when we get shipments, we'll call you when they come in" even though I told her I already paid for them, she didn't care. The same thing happens when you're at the store as well. Sales people either ignore you, or stalk you all over the place. Prices are higher here for a pair of shoes than they would be at say Nordstrom. read more

My overall experience in Lori's yesterday was great! I was not only greeted by one person, but a second sales associate asked me if I needed help with anything.The store seems to be set up in a "self-service" type way and help is there if you need it. I'm what some people call impatient, so being able to browse the great selection of shoes on my own, seeing if they have my size (they are not disorganized! the available sizes are from highest to lowest/top to bottom), trying them on right away and making my decision is an advantage to me. I've worked in a shoe boutique before so I know that some people want the sales associate to do everything including put the shoes on for you (which I always thought was a little bit much...). The main importance is do they have shoes I love and do they have my size. Yes and yes. Not only do they have a great shoe selection, but as I was checking out I noticed they also have fun costume and designer jewelry and super cute clothing! Some boutiques in the area are intimidating to walk in, but Lori's is very welcoming. I will definitely be returning! read more

This is a really great store for variety and value. The people who work here are SUPER friendly. One sales woman asked me to model a new necklace that came in. And no, she wasn't trying to sell it to me. I loved the shoes, boots, clutches (great for going out!) and summer sandals! Not sure what the hype is about this store? 90% of the shoes are heinous and the sales people are totally rude. After being in the store for 10 minutes today, a saleswoman came up to me and stated she had to take my shopping bag. "We put all bags behind the counter" and then goes to grab for my bag on her own. If you're going to have a policy of checking bags then how about you actually do it right when the customers walk in the store? I hadn't been to this store in about 10 years but decided to stop by. I was looking for a silver shoe for a wedding. Not 1 but 2 sales associates were helpful and suggested a pair. Tried them on but once again stated, I'm not sure they will work with my dress. "I said, I could always return them if they don't work". Neither one of them bothered to mention their NO REFUND RETURN POLICY. I went back 3 days later to return the shoes and was told I would get a store credit. I said, a store credit?! Although the selection was just ok I did pick out two pairs ($100+ each) and was about to buy them when I saw the return policy: store credit only if returned within 10 days. I purchased a pair of sandals on line and when I received them they were too small. Drove to the store to return them today. When I got there, I was informed that the shoes had to be returned to their warehouse in order for me to get a refund and that the refund could not be processed in the store. This policy makes no sense and is not stated on their online return policy. Are they that hungry for money, I will never buy anything from them again. The woman I dealt with had a very arrogant attitude. She basically told me that items that are on sale are defective. read more

Loris' return/refund policy is very mis-leading. I wasn't 100% sure about the shoes I was purchasing, and when I asked about their return policy, the salesman said "within 10 days or store credit." That means a customer can return in 10 days and receive a full refund. Well, it is incorrect -- they do not give refunds at all. So his answer should have been "No refunds." NO REFUNDS. If I had known this I would not have purchased the shoes. I'm on a tight budget, and when the woman explained this I was so flustered and angry that I left. So now I'm out $70 and have a pair of shoes I don't want. It's very disappointing, and needless to say, I will not be shopping here again. read more

Ordered a pair of designer boots and a pair of Jeffrey Campbell booties from this store. It never occurred to me that a store selling high end labels over the Internet would have a zero return policy. I do not order much online and usually order from Nordstrom, but they were out of my size. Lori's did not mention that the Jeffrey Campbell's per manufacturer specifications "order 1/2 size down" as they run large. They stamped my invoice with a "final sale" which meant I could not exchange or return them - obviously they did not fit and were too big. I am now stuck with a pair of shoes I cannot wear and do not want. Warning: Do not ever order online from this store and/or read their "policies" well in advance of placing an order. read more

Yes, they have a great selection but my most recent visits have been with a miserable sales person. The first time I stopped in on a way to run errands. Wasn't wearing makeup, workout clothes were donned, etc. It took 10 minutes for this person to speak to me and that was only after I asked her a question. I was looking for a specific color green sandal to wear under a wedding dress. (an inside family tradition for good luck) and the woman asked me "why in the world I would want to do that?" Does it really matter? I'm a sale, man! After telling her essentially that, she pointed me... literally pointed and did not walk over, to a row of dyables. When I asked her details about getting them dyed... how I go about doing it, if they do it. She looked at me like I sprouted a second head. I have small feet, size fives, so I can never find anything. And i am used to that. I'm used to going into a store and seeing the size 5 section as a mismatch of ugly shoes and size 9's that are misplaced, but I am not used to such rudeness. I went back again, in a suit after work. And the same woman was my new best friend. I approached her with the similiar question and she guided me over to a pair of green sandals that they didn't have in my size but that she said I could order without much problem. I know armitage is known to be snobby, but get over yourself people. And don't be snobby when you are selling shoes. Unless you're selling the cure for cancer, you're not allowed to appear righteous. I used to work a block away from Lori's and I miss it so much. In general I LOVE a store that has all the shoes set out on the floor with boxes I can just pick up and try on. I always get frustrated sitting in Nordstroms for 20 waiting on someone to tell me whether they have my shoe or not (no disrespect to the fabulous sales folk at Nordstroms, I've just got issues). Some days I go in and have to talk myself out of buying four pairs of shoes, some days I can't find a thing. Such is life. Lots of stock, and lots of sale shoes! However, I bought one of the pairs on sale ($60) and they turned out to be the most uncomfortable pair I own. And they were sneakers. The craftsmanship (expecially the sole) was very cheap, and I wore them twice but had to stop because I had to wear band-aids as well. Most of the bags there I also recognized as knock-offs of other labels, but with worse material. But they do have lots of shoes...if you like quantity over quality. read more

"errr, eee, aaaaaah! look at these blanche!" that is the soundtrack of lori's. i have once picked up a pair, tried them on, set them next to me, and then some crazy lady picked them up and claimed them! it's dog eat dog here, every crazed shoe shopper for themselves. it's better quality than DSW (by the way, the one in LP sucks!) but smaller, which is what causes the 10-women-pile-up on top of the shoe boxes. i like to dig when i shop, i'm known for finding diamonds in the rough (or in this case, a marc jacob in a sea of sam edleman's and steve madden's). if you don't like people (lots of them), you're hung-over and don't like digging - lori's is not your place. a friend of mine came with me (shopping with me can be rigorous, i don't do a once-over, i do a quadruple-over) and had to leave because she was hung over and the nutty shoe shoppers were making her lose it. you will most likely find some good shoes, if they have your size, but not always are they the best deal (sometimes 10% off only!) but you could get lucky in the clearance section, yaaaaaaa. read more

When you first go to Lori's you are in awe -so many shoes and bags and the prices seem decent! But in time you learn you have been duped! Quality is low, the return policy is crappy and DSW is more organized. I found a pair of hip booties that I wanted to buy to see if they matched the dress I had in mind. The shoe's leather had shoddy stitching and I asked if it could be fixed or if there was another pair in my size and was told that I could either get 10% off and no chance of return or pay in full and be able to return them. You will always find one thing that surprises you here. It's not what you would normally look for, it's not what you had in mind, but you can't stop thinking about it once you leave. That is, if you stay long enough to wade through the disorganization of shoes everywhere, no rhyme or reason to their placement, hordes of women trying shoes on "anywhere" and the sticker shock of stuff that you initially thought (perhaps from the haphazard display) you could afford. I'm not saying Lori's is unreasonable -- in fact, for designer brands you can only find in boutique shops, they always come in a bit under. I'm just saying that for Pete's sake, make your display match your product. I pay a lot to basically serve myself and stand in line for 20 minutes waiting to hand over $130. I love my shoes and they have held up amazingly, but I have avoided going back for the headache. Also -- one great thing to note about Lori's is if you call, they pick up the phone and are very diligent about attending to you (the woman there put shoes on hold for me immediately and they were actually there when I arrived.) Also, you can buy from their online store if you don't want to wait in the shop. 3.5 stars. read more
