I'm so happy I found this place, as I loathe the 'big box' experience. Needed a key made and the local locksmith is closed on weekends. Within 3 minutes of walking in the door, one of the guys led me to the key making station, made my keys, helped me find another item and checked me out. As good as it gets. This is usually my go-to place so it pains me to write this review. They have a great set up for theses challenging times, table set up at the door keeping shoppers outside. Tell them what you need and they go get it, and they're doing a great job. I got what I needed and they had small bottles of hand sanitizer at check out so I grabbed one. When I got home I looked at my receipt and it was $7.99!!! Outrageous. Maybe their wholesaler is jacking up the price which would be beyond their control but at the very LEAST they could put up a sign with the cost. Very disappointed in them. read more

Love this location as its very conventient. Stock is very good for such a small store, and prices are very comparable to other competition hardware stores. Staff is very friendly, and have a a good depth of knowledge to help me get a weekend project done! Doesn't get any better. I am a very "non-expert" hardware store project person. Henry and Zack consulted with me multiple times and provided great guidance not to mention free labor in cutting down some piping pieces I purchased. They are open during the Shelter In Place, although you can't go inside the store (I understand why; the aisles are very narrow). They have a lot of stuff in stocks that I've not been able to find at big box stores or other hardware stores. Their prices are reasonable. They are always helpful. They are a family owned business who give back to the community and have been in downtown Los Altos for close to 40 years. Henry the proprietor knows the "how tos" about most any home project, and he hires and trains all of his employees to do the same. If you need a special tool for just one use, Henry will let you borrow it for free, just bring it back. The store is very well equipped to handle a broad spectrum of home needs. Hard to believe they have a full section and selection of bathroom hardware - high end too. Excellent service by Marci - she is extremely knowledgeable with parts needed for remodel, prices, alternatives etc. I drove all the way to Oakland to get a good deal from Sincere Hardware and Marci matched the price. All the salespeople are knowledgeable about the products and will lead you right to them. Great neighbourhood hardware store. Went in for some wood stain and Henry helped me personally and super quickly. He understood what I needed, found it for me, and even told me to get a cheap brush - no attempt to upsell at all. Plus, he called me "young lady" 3-4 times, so that made my day. I needed a pair of wire cutters for a gardening project and stopped by this hardware store. After asking the guy behind the counter to recommend something, he asked me if I needed it for a weekend project. When I said yes, he then offered to let me borrow them. Yeah! I left the store with wire cutters (larger than the ones I would've bought) in hand, completed my project, and returned them. I read through a couple of reviews and one woman was offended when asked if she wanted to borrow a hammer. I actually find this an awesome thing they do and I'll be back because of it! read more

I just bought a house in the area so I've been in there three times in the last two days. Today, when I was buying a pile of little halogen lightbulbs, the guy working the register said "you know, I have those a lot cheaper" and proceeded to take me to the aisle and show me the less expensive bulbs. I've never seen had this happen in any hardware store, much less in any store, period. For that, they get five stars. read more

One of our circuit breakers broke and I took it to the store for a replacement. They don't carry this type... but the manager/owner went out of his way to call other two hardware stores to check whether they had them. They didn't have them but they were able to tell us which store carried it, and that saved me lots of time driving around. This store is a jewel of our town! read more
