    Molcajete

My wife and I have eaten here several times and love it. The food and service are top quality. Lately we've found the Molcajete to be our favorite. We share it and still have enough leftovers for at least another meal for each of us. The workers are all so kind, fun, and happy. They make us feel great every time we come... After a poor experience next door at the Main St Pub, we aborted our dinner over there and came to Los Amigos where we KNEW we would be well taken care of and they lived up to it!

A group of 7 of us stopped in to Los Amigos on a Saturday night around 6 pm and were seated right away. This location is a former Big Boy and honestly, the interior still kind of seems like nothing has been changed. Don't let that deter you, though - I thought this place was really good. I was a little wary of the reviews but I was distracted by the chips and salsa and the HUGE menu as soon as we sat down. Did I mention the menu is huge? I had planned on taking photos since I didn't see many online, but I honestly couldn't because it was so big. They have pretty much everything you can think of, so anyone who likes Mexican food will find something to order. It was nice to have a variety to choose from but give yourself time if you're indecisive! They also have alcohol options so definitely check out their margaritas if you're in the mood for those. I got the enchiladas rancheras, which is three cheese enchiladas smothered in tomatoes, sauteed peppers and onions, and pulled pork. It comes with guacamole, sour cream, rice, and refried beans. Other people in our group ordered burritos and tacos. Our server seemed a little confused on some of the items (she asked one person if they wanted American or Mexican tacos, but not another), but everything came out correctly. The food was delivered in a timely manner and everything was super hot. My plate was enormous - definitely splittable between two people. The enchiladas were super cheesy and the toppings were a great addition. I loved all the veggies and it made it easy for me to pretend that I wasn't just eating melted cheese underneath them. The pork was super tender and seasoned well. Our server disappeared a bit so we had to wait awhile to get the bill, but she was polite and friendly. I would absolutely go back to Los Amigos in the future and I'm glad I discovered it.

This has become our go-to Mexican restaurant in Kalamazoo. The food is consistent and tasty, the building is well maintained and clean, and the salsa is delicious. The only reason for four instead of five stars is the service, which while efficient has often lacked warmth. The menu is also a little expensive compared to other similar restaurants, but the portions are huge, and there are some good deals (veggie fajitas for $9 and burrito special for $8.50).

    There's a cute little bar!

I was surprised to see so many negative reviews for this joint... I've been to one of the other locations and for what it is it's pretty good. The margaritas have good flavor... Made with Jose Cuevo gold. Prices are very reasonable and portions are large. This place is not an uber authentic Mexican restaurant, but rather a Mexican American restaurant and they do a very nice job. Service is fast and friendly, food is hot and tasty... In the house salsa is flavorful and mild. I will be back.

I love me some Mexican cuisine and a frozen marg and this place is one of the rare restaurants that had both! The food is meh, not "wow" but not bad. Portions are huge and drinks are strong which makes it worth the visit. Ask, beans and rice are on point! Yummm!

First time dining here while visiting my brother's family. Food is awesome. Ordered the chicken fajitas. Delicious and huge portion. $13.99 for that much food is ridiculous. I'm a fan after the first visit. Starter chips and salsa were also very good. Brother endorsed the chimichanga. Service was a little spotty which is the reason for only 4 stars. I would definitely return.

Not sure why the reviews on this place are so low. I've been here two or 3 times and am very happy with the food and service. I think their prices are very good for the amount of food you get. Everything comes out really hot. Ordered a blended margarita and it was tasty and strong, they didn't chince out on the tequila. Check your local community coupon magazine to clip some discounts as well.

chile de arbol salsa, chile verde, guacamole, regular mild house salsa ALL AMAZING.

Los Amigos service is awesome. Let's start there. If this review were only based on service this review would be 5 stars. We had an amazing waiter who took great care of us. Came here two days in a row because the service was so good. Not like me. The food: just above average authentic Mexican food. Great price for a lot of food for any of the lunch combos. Salsa: Great smooth house red salsa with cilantro, then they have a chile de arbol salsa that is really garlicky and smoky, awesome!

    Cockroach

Found a cockroach next to me while having dinner, he was alive and crawling. Finding one in the day light at the front of the restaurant only makes me wonder how many are in the kitchen.

Not good - Pre-packaged guacamole, clearly just warmed up pre made stuff. Everything from a can. Avoid.

Admittedly our first choices were not open due to power outages. This is a new place that we have never noticed before. I believe this building used to house Theo and Stacey's and then Berries. The service was attentive and kind here, however our meals left us with a less than stellar opinion and a lack of desire to return. I can see from another reviews here that the owner says the food is mostly "house-made". I am not certain if this phrasing means the same thing as homemade, but none of our meals tasted at all homemade. I ordered the biscuits and gravy with the added option of eggs and potatoes for an extra $3. Nothing on my plate tasted homemade to my palate. The biscuits were not warm and tasted like a premade item, not like a fresh biscuit, at all. The gravy definitely had a canned taste and appearance - not flavorful or very warm. The eggs were fine, cooked to order. The breakfast potatoes did not look fresh cut and were undercooked and not seasoned as our waitress described. They definitely had a premade appearance. I have ordered biscuits and gravy all over this town, I'm not a rookie in this field. ;) My son ordered a Benedict. It was very basic, as expected, but with a bland, cold sauce. My husband ordered an omelet with the breakfast potatoes and toast. If you order sourdough toast it only comes with one piece, which is fine, but it's not true sourdough from a fermented starter. It appeared to be regular, thin bread from a packaged, pre-made loaf. He also commented that the potatoes appear to be out of a frozen bag, not a homemade appearance, taste, or flavor. The omelet was bland but they do provide salt and pepper as well as one hot sauce choice to flavor things up a bit. The coffee was very diner-esque. Lacking in flavor and strength. However our waitress kept our cups full and warm! There were a couple of larger groups present which kept the atmosphere quite loud during our visit. However the restaurant is cute and has quite a few tables to hold a good sized amount of patrons at once. With a tip our total for 3 breakfast entrees and two coffees was just shy of $60. I know that prices are on the higher side these days, but this was extremely disappointing for the food that we were served. There are so many wonderful breakfast restaurants in our area - another choice might benefit both the tastebuds and wallet! I try to be kind but honest in my reviews here, two stars is generous.

600 is such a cute place for a lovely meal!…read more We have been multiple times but stopped in on a recent sunny afternoon for some lunch. 600 is so light and airy, we really love the atmosphere!! We had a really great waitress, I wish I would have gotten her name! She was doing the job of hostess and waitress to multiple tables, and doing it all very well! We ordered a chicken sandwich and a salad for our lunch entrees! Both were very good and presented very well! While the food is good and quality feels high - the price is also on the high side. For a sandwich and a salad, waters to drink, we spent over $50 for our lunch! Just something to be aware of! While we had time - the experience was not fast. Something to be aware of if needing a quick lunch. The restaurant was not overly busy but the wait was a little long to receive our order. I ordered a salmon salad - the menu nor the website specify if the salmon is wild caught or farmed. I would really love to know this information - the price would be much better reflected if it were indeed wild caught. :)

The service was on the slower side and could have used more attention to detail--coffee refills were missed, and we didn't have spoons to stir our coffee. That said, our server was kind and had a gentle, pleasant demeanor. The food overall was very good. Only one person in our group was disappointed--the chicken and waffles were described as dry, with the chicken coating lacking flavor. Everyone else enjoyed their meals, and the desserts were a standout; they were excellent and loved by all. One area that could use improvement is the upstairs bathroom. While it was well stocked with supplies, it needed cleaning. Clear signage for the upstairs restroom and perhaps a nice piece of artwork would also be welcome touches. Overall, a nice brunch experience with great desserts and room for a few improvements.
