This is a small but excellent restaurant off the main road in Ruskin. The food here is authentic Mexican, although you can get non traditional if you ask. Everything I've tried was outstanding and prepared to perfection. The Chille Rillenos with cheese sauce is "over the top" as well as the wet burrito. If there is one thing that needs improvement it would be the salsa chips which are too thick and flavorless. Their is an excellent beer selection and my wife loves the Margaritas. Loved this place! It's a bit misleading from the front, but this is no dive. Very clean and nice. Even the bathrooms were nice and clean. Food was outstanding and the wait staff very attentive. Well during this time my wife and I are trying to support family restaurant such as this one, you would think they would want the business... nope not this one called around 7:40pm to place order no answer so we decided to drive by the lights were on young lady sweeping on the inside it was 8:03 sign says open till 9 on Fridays on front door so my wife walked in and ask if they was open and the young lady rudely responded no that they just closed. Great Mexican food! Everything we ordered was delicious! The tacos are very flavorful and they grill the tortilla which gives it an even better taste. The chicken soup is a must try. Excellent flavor and the small size is very generous. The refried beans and rice were pretty good. The chips are quite different but han in most restaurants but were very good. Salsa was good too. The bathroom was very clean. Good service too. The only downside to this place is the wait time to get your food. We waited around 30 minutes or more to get our food. My first time to eat at Los Amigos and it didn't disappoint! Very fresh authentic Mexican food. I moved here from Texas almost 5 years ago. Have not been able to find a really good Mexican restaurant until now. Very friendly and prompt service. Laura was our server. She really represents the restaurant well. Only disappointment was we really were hoping for sopaipillas or an authentic dessert. That would be our only suggestion. The homemade salsa was perfect! We did add a little of the fire-hot sauce to give it a little kick. I had a crunchy ground beef taco, a refried bean tostado, tamale, Spanish rice and a small bowl of refried beans. All of it was excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant in Ruskin! Will be back and bring friends and family. read more

I told my snowbird friends that I wanted to go to an authentic Mexican restaurant while I was visiting and this is where they brought me. It was packed when we arrived. The staff are awesome. Friendly and accomodating, even to a group of Gringas! Although the fajitas were recommended, we all had wet burritos. They were sooo good. I chose the charros beans as a side, instead of refried beans. I enjoyed them very much. The rice side was just ok, I've had better at Mexican restaurants here in Michigan. The wall art is amazing. I rate it 2 stars not because it's bad, but i have experienced better small business mexican restaurants. They were pretty light on the cheese which was a little dissapointing. The chips with guac though were enough to make us full before the food even got out. I had the taco combo with a sopes and that was good. my wife had an enchilada with this odd creamy sauce (recommended by the waitress), chile rellanos and a g-something; on the menu it's just below the tacos. Everything tasted great for her accept the enchilada. She came home and threw up because of its aftertaste. Not that the food was that bad, but something in the sauce and that kind of enchilada didn't agree with her. Even though we gave it 2 stars, we will still be returning. I lived in Mexico City for 8 years of my youth, so I know what real Mexican (not tex-mex, "gringo friendly") food should taste like. This, mis amigos, is as close as i've found in this area. The big test for me are the tacos al pastor. There are several ways to make these seasoned pork taco delicacies. The traditional way is to have a big hunk of seasoned meat on a vertical stake that slowly rotates as it's cooked. This is how they do it in the streets of Mexico City and it gives it the authentic taste. Although they don't do it on the stake, the taste is the same. Combined with homemade corn (just say *no* to flower) tortillas and real Mexican "frijoles charros" (bean soup for my monolingual amigos), ricas enchiladas verdes, this place delivers authentic Mexican to a side street of Ruskin. Last time I went, the owner was cooking in the kitchen, so you know he's got his heart invested in the place. Boycott Taco Bell and support this local business. Either way... in about 20 years, tacos will replace hamburgers as the official American fast food. read more
