Who knew there was such thing as a Bowling Supply store? Yet there is. And Jeff is incredibly knowledgeable, to boot. This small space offers bowling shoes, bowling balls and all sorts of accessories you may not have known you needed. I was referred to the store by someone I met on the bowling lane in Mar Vista, When I came in, I told Jeff I was very new and trying to figure out how to determine what size bowling ball to purchase. Jeff suggested that I continue to play the alley balls until I find a weight that I could comfortably play through 3 games on a repeated basis. He explained that for a purchase, a slightly heavier ball would make sense, as the more you play, the more muscle memory you gain. We discussed shoes, and I expressed my concern that I have a difficult time with regular shoes - Jeff immediately knew bowling shoes would be more difficult. I told him I currently play in my Dr. Scholls, and he showed me a slider accessory that would fit right over it. As far as prices, the store offered pricing comparable to an Amazon purchase. Jeff said he sometimes gets used balls, and he has the ability to Re customize the finger holes, but there is a process each used ball goes through to become quality for a resell. tl;dr - Found a new "go-to" pro shop for equipment, questions, and even community. Recently had a bad experience bowling: long story short, my ball kept sticking to my thumb and causing wrist pain. The pro shops I went to bombarded me with gear: add more tape, use this wrist brace, etc. Nothing worked, so I assumed my technique was just way off. Wasn't seeing improvement and ended up with a slight injury and bad vibes from my current ball. Did a bunch of research thinking my ball was too heavy, inserts weren't the right shape, too loose, etc. Saw the great reviews for Jeff and Chris' shop and decided to come in to ask questions and check for options. Jeff expertly broke down my experience and had determined what he thought was the issue (improper fit). After looking at my old ball, the fingers were off by nearly 2", which was the root cause of all my issues. He walked me through equipment options to make an informed decision, without upselling anything. I ended up purchasing and drilling a new ball there, and regardless of the price posted on the box, he charged me the cheapest online price at the time. He also guaranteed all work and said I could bring it back for any issues through the life of the ball. Jeff and Chris were also masters at multitasking and making everyone feel at home. While they're only a two-man operation, the customers (both old and new) were flowing and no one felt ignored. I saw their lifetime warranty in action a few times, with some folks coming in for a quick adjustment/sanding to the thumb. Many long-term customers were also there for repeat business, and while I was getting fit for and waiting for my ball to be drilled, I got to speak with them and we all aligned on the fact that this is a no-nonsense shop that actually cares. Jeff knows more about bowling balls than I thought it was possible to know. Granted, this place does have a virtual monopoly in the greater south Bay, but despite that, he always gives you a great deal and does not charge tax. Be advised there is a line out the door due to this guy's impeccable services. Call in advance to get an estimate wait time. I went there with a new ball in search of drilling some holes. Luckily I had the time to wait about an hour and a half to get custom fitted. I called him a few days later and he said come on by. Did some last-minute shaving and the ball is perfect for $40 all told. BTW, the guy is a bastion of his community and everybody around knows him, and comes by to shoot the breeze. He will give you some great suggestions depending on what style of bowler you are whether you want to try to bowl straight or have a wicked hook. read more

This place is great. Their hours are convenient for people who cant go before work. Jeff was super. I brought in a new ball to be drilled and inscribed, and he did everything in a very professional manner, explaining everything along the way. After trying to find a bowling bag, ball, and shoes at local sporting goods stores knowing pro shops tend to be more expensive and failing, I finally tried going here. I did not get his name but he was thorough on sizing shows and ball with a good weight for me and proper spacing of the holes and making sure I had a ball that worked for my kind of bowling.
