I rarely give out a 1 star review unless I feel like the business truly deserved it, but this experience was completely unacceptable. 6 months ago, I ordered 2 pairs of winning gloves. The website stated the items were on backorder for 5 months. After waiting out the 5 months, I emailed winningUSA for an update, but they never replied to me. Since I paid using PayPal, I eventually contacted them to open a dispute just to ask about the status of my gloves. Finally winningUSA emailed me back. Instead of offering an apology or an update, they told me that because I open a dispute, my order was being cancelled and I was officially blacklisted from ordering from them again. I honestly couldn't believe it. I paid a thousand dollars just to get treated like a peasant. I actually like winning gear, but this behavior was completely out of pocket. I hope they change how they treat their customers in the future. Kazumichi has so much wisdom and story telling that you can just sit down and listen to him for hours, he made it a point to let me know that it doesn't matter if I'm a celebrity like mike Tyson or just a average joe, he respects everybody all the same, he quoted to me "no one should be above you and no one should be under you, we are all the same". He reminds me of my grandfather , stubborn on the outside but full of love on the inside. I drove all the way from San Francisco to visit the shop, with zero sleep and tired from the trip, him and his wife made me feel comfortable and being there seemed refreshing and almost spiritual like i was standing on holy ground. Even though he hates having to sell winning products (it's a long story, he'll fill you when you visit the shop) he loves helping people and he'll set up an appointment to help the customer, not for a sale but to genuinely help people, he even told me that he could care less about advertising or convincing someone to buy his products. He also asked me to take a picture with him , I was humbled by his request as he has so many pictures of famous boxers posted on his walls but he still took the time to make me feel special by wanting to take a picture with me. Wasn't sure if the showroom was still open but it is! I emailed Kazumichi, the owner, and he got back to me within a few hours. You must make an appointment to visit the showroom as he does not have regular business hours. As many other reviews say, DO NOT call him as he prefers communicating over email. Also, as mentioned below this is not a business transaction for Kazumichi. He enjoys sharing life stories and getting to know you before showing you his Winning inventory. If you do not have the time I recommend buying from the winning usa website as it will cost the same exact price (Kazumichi includes the shipping fee as he pays it to get his inventory shipped to the US) We spent about an hour and a half with Kazumichi and had a great time chatting and looking at his photographs. So, I'm starting boxing. Despite what people say about Winning being the Gucci gloves for a beginner, I figure, if i spend only 100$ more than a pair for cletos, I may as well use these for my training. I'm sure i'll grab a pair of sparring cletos once i really get into it. I read the online reviews about Kazumichi not picking up his phone calls. Yes the phone number on his yelp "works" but he promptly tells you to keep in touch with him via e-mail boxing@winning-usa.com He also says he checks his e-mail frequently/daily. He is a very busy, yet humble, man. Apparently he usually only meets people at noon at the address stated above. I'm going to e-mail him and hope that he can meet me tomorrow. Edit update: Went in. Hes on the 3rd floor of the building, street facing unit. His room is decorated with photos of himself and wife with the likes canelo, tyson, and other known names. He loves to talk about philosophical topics. Hes got a ton of sass for his age. This man has been around the block and his motive is to encourage you to chase happiness rather than money. He is low in popular stock. I went in for a 14oz black and settled for white. (I'm cool with white. Itll really show the bloodstains) First thing he said when I walked in, "hey why u spend so much money?" He says unironically. "All the best boxers use everlast." I'm going to use these 14s for pads and light work. Probably buy a 16s for heavy bag and sparring. His wife (in the picture) also wants anyone to punch floyd Mayweather in the face anytime they see him cuz it took Mayweather a whole year to pay off a 20,000 tab. He was very professional with me and took the time out of his day to have a conversation with me, which I really enjoyed! His wife Mrs. Junko is lovely and helped when choosing some gear. I paid $657 and I left with a pair of MS-6OOB and a FG-2900 both in blue, and a pair of NG-2 knuckle pads. I will go back and purchase a CPS-500 in blue to complete my set of Winning gear! Kazumichi is one of the nicest genuine persons I have ever met. As one of the other yelp reviewers indicated, it is very easy for Kazumichi to come off as rude over the phone when in fact he is the nicest person ever! I happened to be in Kazumichi's store while he received a phone call from a customer. There was a bit of miscommunication between the caller and Kazumichi. Ultimately Kazumichi became upset because the caller didn't introduce himself by name (the way one would in person) after Kazumichi introduced himself. Kazumichi thought the caller was being disrespectful and rude so the call ended up going sideways. Kazumichi absolute hates using the phone and prefers communication by email. If you're interested in making a purchase, make sure you email him and set an appointment so he can make himself available for you. Your experience with him and his wife will be a great one.
