I went there during the week for breakfast. My husband and I were the only ones there. The lady seemed to be in a bad mood. She wasn't rude to my husband, but a bit rude to me, especially when I asked where the restroom was. Maybe because when I went to the restroom, it smelled terrible! If I didn't have to use it badly, I would have run out of there. Aside from that, the restaurant had murals and city awards that were given to them, including some from the LAPD. It had a newspaper clipping on the wall of a great review. For me though, the food was okay. I ordered some huevos rancheros. I expected them to be on a fried tortilla, but they were on a heated tortilla. So, the flavor was not as I was hoping. My husband ordered the steak picado. He liked it. I also ordered a cafe de olla, but it was not to my liking either. It was a bit sour. By the end of breakfast, I was sort of satisfied and the lady was more pleasant. I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this place. It definitely felt like a local hole-in-the-wall spot with a comfortable feel that definitely places you on the eastside. Boyle Heights, without a doubt! There are ample parking spaces in the back and you can enter/exit through the back or the front. The service is on point. The complimentary salsas (two levels of spice and texture) as well as the fresh guacamole (muy rico!) with the restaurant style tortilla chips are a great enticing introduction to what you're about to eat. I ordered the enchiladas de pollo (chicken enchiladas) con mole based on another review that I read (this was not on the menu) and was pretty satisfied with my meal. Moles la Tia, in my opinion, still has the best mole in the area but this was still a great meal and definitely made me full with the frijoles (beans) y arroz (beans and rice) combination. The jamaica was good and my friend was satisfied with her flautas combination and horchata. I would definitely come back when I'm craving a "home cooked" type of meal and a comforting atmosphere. The most expensive thing on the menu was probably $9 so it's definitely affordable! *^*^*~CASH ONLY *^*^*^*~ Everything is home cooked! The salsa, the warm freshly made tortilla chips! The pico de gallo with its nice kick. The very hot jalapeños and carrots and onion curtido! So right when you enter before you get your free salsa and chips, you'll notice the frescoes! The murals not only outside but inside the small restaurant! So beautiful and colorful! They have quetzals and women in traditional Mexican clothing. They have every table with a poster from a tourist Destination in Mexico. They have landscapes of realistic Mexican countrysides and pyramids. The walls have artisanal clay decorations. An eclectic taste of Mexican art and beauty. Needless to say very happy and homey dinning ambiance. I ordered a giant chicken quesadilla. Guacamole was not extra! Also came with a side of beans and cheese all for $6! Delicious. There was a lot of cheese and chewy grilled chicken. I hate when a quesadilla doesn't have the right chicken to cheese ratio. This one was perfect. I also had a Jamaica. Ok. Jamaica is tricky because I've had some that are too sweet that you can tell there was an artificial product added. Whether it be artificial sugar like corn syrup or sweetener. This was not the case at Los Antojitos. Which if you don't know, translates to the lil cravings. I had a big craving for Jamaica and I was happy it was homemade and not ridiculously sweet. I could taste the slight bitterness of the jamaica flower! My uncle had the huevos rancheros. Not spicy and very runny in sauce. He mentioned how funny it is to go to different Mexican restaurants and see their huevos rancheros style. He was happy with this new one. Overall. It's more 3 3/4 star. The albondigas was pretty good. I didn't need to add much just a splash of lime and some pepper and it was perfect to taste. I'm use to albondigas with certain vegetables but here they had cabbage in it. It was pretty good. The salsa was delicious. Perfectly spiced. I practically drank the bowl of salsa with the crispy tortilla chips. On the other hand, the enchilada and chile relleno plate was underwhelming. The sauce was basic and didn't have the good spices I'm used to. The beans was also bland. So, the dishes had me conflicted. One dish was pretty good the other was not. Nothing fancy here just good Mexican food. Its not in the greatest neighborhood, but don't let that stop you from missing out on good authentic Mexican food. What I like is that the portions are just right, they don't overload the plate with rice and beans. This is my favorite restaurant in all of Los Angeles. It is super clean, has the friendliest service anywhere and the food is fresh and delicious. Please know it is a "cash only" restaurant. It is frequented by the local LAPD, LAFD and several local politicians, so *you KNOW* the menu and food is good. So I ate at this place called los antojitos directly in front of the Hollenbeck Police station. I was greeted and was offered a cup a coffee as I walked in. It felt like home. I ordered huevos rancheros. For this that don't know what huevos rancheros are they're fried eggs over a fried tortilla with a tomato based Spicy sauce. Thy come with beans and rice on the side. They were amaaaaaaaaazing they took back, they reminded of the ones my mom made for my brother and I as kids. I give it 2 thumbs up a like and a share. I commend this place. read more

This place is by far the cleanest Mexican Restaurant I am have ever been to. I was greeted as soon as I arrived by a friendly gentleman. The salsa is delicious but different than anything I have ever tasted. It is fresh, mild and leaves you with a buttery taste on your palate --- Incredible! I ordered the chicken mole enchiladas and although they weren't off the charts fantastic they were still quick tasty. Beans and rice were on point as well. I'll definitely return and recommend. The place is decorated in beautiful floor to ceiling mural paintings of colorful Mexican heritage images. So glad I found this place. The breakfast burritos are off the hook delicious and quite filling. Try it with the homemade salsa which resonates with flavour and spice. The bacon, cheese and potatoes combination burrito is the best, IMO. It's good enough to keep to keep you coming back for more. The rest of the menu is fine. Clean, fresh and wholesome, though a little bland if you like salty and greasy. For that go down the street to Lupita's which is also tasty in its own way. It's kind of a bummer that Los Antojitos is cash-only so be prepared to carry some green backs. Staff is a no-nonsense married couple that can be super friendly and treats you like family once they get to know you. Indeed, this is the sort of place that is frequented by regulars, including the cops from the police station across the street. Our cinnamon-laced coffee hit the spot on a rainy Monday morning. For pescatarians, there are only a couple of shrimp dishes, so no - I didn't try the signature albondigas soup or pozole. Nat was quite happy with his usual order of chicken flautas. My shrimp was fine, but am I going to make the trip across the newly-reopened First Street Bridge when Highland Park is awash in great Mexican restaurants? Probably not. Being from the east coast, what do I know about good Mexican food. From what little I do know, I can tell that this is a pretty authentic mexican dining experience. For starters we had some great chips, salsa, and guac. For me these were the highlight of the meal...nothing against the rest of the meal, I'm just an appetizer kinda guy and these were great. I then had a carnitas soft taco and the meatball soup...both were solid, but I wished I ordered something else after seeing the other plates. We were doing a self guided tour of Boyle Heights and asked the family who lives in one of the historic homes where to eat. What a great suggestion! Cash only! First of all, the place is spotless, especially the bathroom which is always the real indicator. There is only one bathroom stall though. Kind of rough with a party of 8. The food is truly homemade. They cook it, they bring it out hot, a plate at a time. It's all very tasty old fashioned and authentic. The chips and salsa (on the hot side but perfectly good) were so good, dare I say too good? The portions are generous and the prices are good too. The people are so nice. The service was great. There was one guy in the kitchen and our server also worked in the kitchen. Friendly staff, plenty of street and P-lot parking. Food is fresh and super cheap. I come for the breakfast often, coffee is good. Portions are not giant, but the price is so low, who cares.
