Popped in a little before closing after a night out and they were surprisingly accommodating! I ordered a carne asada burrito with beans and it was HEFTY! Not greasy, not fatty. Just a solid burrito. The salsas at the salsa bar were also SO GOOD! I look forward to the next time I'm in the area so I can stop by.

The location itself could definitely use some work, especially since it is by a busy street and the entrance is very small, but besides that, good spot to order Mexican food from. A bit pricey but the portions are hefty and I'd say worth the price. My asada fries were tasty, meat is good, it is just missing a few components that I would've liked to see on my plate (pico de gallo, sour cream, maybe beans). I'd say the food is pretty good overall.

I'm mainly rating this place 5 stars on their Carne Asada Fries alone. The fries still had a crisp by the time it was delivered to my home. I don't know if it's originally included but I added pico de gallo to the order and it was so delicious. The birria plate was tasty and packed with a lot of meat! The restaurant is small and located on the corner of a busy street but there's a lot of parking available and adequate indoor seating.

Their chile relleno plate comes with two rellenos. And they were delicious.

This was our first visit here in many years, and definitely since they changed names and ownership in early 2023. This location has always been primarily Mexican food as far back as I can remember, 1980 (?), but has changed owners too many times to count. My on-going passion for finding good chile rellenos got the best of me today, and I discovered they do make rellenos here. Unfortunately, with so few reviews, no one so far had mentioned whether Los Armandos' were good or bad. Guess that it was going to be left up to me. And today, it was time. While the rellenos were slightly smaller than many I've seen, there were two of them per order, tender, good batter, nicely filled with melty cheese, and covered in a nice chunky, home-style sauce. They were plated with rice, refried beans, lettuce, pico de Gallo. The guacamole was fresh and good. Too bad the beans and rice were disappointing, lacking in flavor. The rest was delicious. We also ordered two shredded beef tacos, durado style. Perfect! They were full sized and contained a generous amount of moist, shredded beef, topped with crisp lettuce and yellow shredded cheese. Very tasty, especially with a drizzle of their house, spicy green salsa. We did not go inside. They have a drive-thru window that is quite handy, with a minor wait. No matter, everything was freshly cooked and still hot, and the cashier girl was delightful. Our meals totaled $24. Overall, this was a nice, first impression. I look forward to returning.

The food at Los Armando's is as good it needs to be for this most typical of taco stands. I tried an adobada taco, a carne asada taco and a carnitas taco . While they were freshly built to order the meats tasted a little old and reheated on the plancha. The little salsa bar was a nice touch as their salsa was quite punchy and spicy. They had the usual suspects available on the salsa Bar . A chile onion mix, carrots en escabeche, radish slices, and the tacos came with grilled onions and a fried guero chile. Not bad not great. Service was fast and friendly and they had a drive through window. Ambiance was well worn and outdated. In a pinch it was fine.

Expected this to be DELICIOUS, nope; DRY DRY DRY

Oh boy was this place freakin' great! Ambience: This place…read morewas small but mighty. Super-clean all the way down to the toilet. Very nicely decorated with a great outdoor patio. Wait Staff: I wish I took the name of our waitress because she was awesome, funny and knowledgeable about the menu. All waiters/waitresses were great. Drinks: Unfortunately I didn't get any drinks because we kept seeing the brightly colored drinks and flights being served around us and I was jealous, they all looked awesome. Food: This is where it gets good because the food was A+++mazing. We started off with just the salsa, chips and for a nice surprise, some warm beans. The salsa brought a tear to my eye because it was soooo good. Luckily, my son doesn't eat salsa so I drank it all down. The chips were perfectly fresh and crispy. Guac: So, our waitress brought us some off the menu guac, and, WTF, why are they hiding this recipe from the rest of the world. I literally got into a fist fight with my son because he was trying to take it from me (not really) but I didn't want to share. The presentation was so cute too. Plantains + chips + guac = heavan Fajitas: I ordered fajitas and all boxes were checked, quantity, quality, and taste. I ordered the chicken and it was juicy and thick and perfectly seasoned. Steak tacos: My kid ordered the steak tacos and we brokered a deal to trade some steak for chicken and this was the best deal made since the New Deal (American history). Steak was chunky and juicy and fresh! The only problem with this place is that it is very far from my house as I was in the 'hood for my kids basketball tournament. If I am in the area you better believe that I will be back. Oh yeah, and very affordable for the upscale dining.

The bartender took our drink order, and we received chips and salsa, which were very good. However, the bartender seemed a bit distracted, forgot about us, even though it wasn't a busy night. We decided to give it another chance since so many people seem to enjoy this place. We visited again, and we ordered a few drinks, received chips and salsa, then placed our food order. We waited for a bit and ordered a few more drinks. Unfortunately, after waiting about an hour, we never received our meal or any update on its status. We eventually decided to close out our bill. At that point, we noticed we had been charged for the meal we never received, as well as drinks that were not served. When we brought this to the bartender's attention, they raised their voice and told us we were wrong, which caught us by surprise. I understand that things can get busy, but a lack of communication and being spoken to disrespectfully is unacceptable. A simple check-in or update would have made a big difference. Based on this experience, we're unlikely to return. We really wanted this to work, but maybe you had to be regular customer to get better service?! We tried, but this place is a solid No for us.

I personally didn't love the tacos, but to be fair, I also didn't try anything else on the menu so I can't speak for the rest of their food. The place itself is a decent size, and the patio area is actually pretty nice. The staff was very kind, my order was ready right on time, and I appreciated that they weren't stingy with the sauces. The chips are fresh, super thin and crisp, lightly salted. The salsa one of my favorites. I don't know why others cannot make them the same. I can see a plate of impeccable nachos in my future here. Camarones, Mojo de Ajo style, no head, no shell. The shrimp were nice sized, but obviously overcooked. Mr B said that a couple even tasted old as well. Too bad. On the other hand, the sides, beans and rice, were sensational. Done beautifully, with very rich flavors, I would come here just for those two items. My garlic shrimp burrito was filled with smaller sized shrimp than his, their awesome rice, some fresh salsa, and a pink dressing (?). The shrimp tasted fine, not overcooked, but not overly garlicky. And usually I dislike rice in my burritos, but this combination was an exception, a real winner. I recall having an amazing carnitas here on past visits that I really must revisit. Hmmm. This is beginning to sound like a carnitas nacho plate would be the right thing to do. The interior is very attractive with their colorful and vibrant murals. Great World Cup soccer playing on their TV. The server was absolutely attentive. A good little place worth s return visit.

Check my picture for the information. I ended up getting the 3 taco plate (2 asada and 1 carnitas) and the XL meat quesadilla with asada. The carnitas was really tender and delicious. The asada was good, but it was not my favorite. I have a thing with chewy fatty pieces and I understand it is common in lower quality cuts of flap meat. This asada had quite a few pieces I had to spit out because it was just too chewy. The refried beans were good, also not my favorite though. The quesadilla was good, I liked the grilled cheese cooked prior to folding it into the tortilla with the meat. Nice touch. That grilled cheese makes a huge difference. The next 3 taco plate had pastor, asada, and shrimp (except they actually gave me fish instead). At least my girlfriend enjoyed the fish taco as well. The tacos were loaded with meat and hard to pick up. That's the best! The pastor was tender and juicy. The fish taco was freshly fried and loaded with toppings and sauce. After paying, I asked for salsa and onions/cilantro cups so I could grab it from the salsa bar before leaving, but the lady turned around and grabbed me prepackaged salsa of each kind, bagged onion and cilantro, and limes. Super nice! Salsa were all really good! Especially the green avocado salsa. I'll come back for carnitas when I'm in the mood for tacos/quesadillas. I'll probably avoid the asada though.
