I was driving around 6th st. looking for something quick to eat and I remembered El Rey. I stopped and grabbed a sope de asada, a carne asada taco, and a taco de pastor. Wow! We can around 730pm. It is a very small place with friendly staff. We ordered carne asada torta ( huge), chicken quesadilla and fish tacos. I took a bite off husband fish tacos and I wanted to eat the entire thing. Really good batter and the chipotle sauce is so good. It came out to about $50 with 2 drinks. Good prices. Definitely will come back. Their salsa bar is really good! They are called El Rey tacos for a reason. I'd probably order to go next time since it's so close to my house. This was my second time coming here because my first experience was great the service was friendly and very fast. Unfortunately, this visit was the complete opposite. When we walked in, there was nobody at the counter. Once the cashier came over, her attitude was terrible from the start. While we were trying to place our order, she repeatedly talked over us, cut us off, and rolled her eyes. In the middle of taking our order, she answered the phone and simply walked away while we were still speaking to her. I wish I could say it was just our experience, but she had the same rude and dismissive attitude toward the customer who ordered after us as well. Customer service makes a huge difference, and this experience was disappointing enough that we will not be coming back. It's unfortunate because we had such a positive experience the first time, but the level of disrespect and lack of basic customer service during this visit was unacceptable. I hope management does something about this because I see this isn't the first review about a cashier with a terrible attitude. read more

The cashier has an attitude problem. I called ahead to place an order, and she answered the phone only to tell me to "hold." I ended up waiting on the line for 15 minutes. She apparently assumed I had hung up because I heard her end the call without ever coming back to me. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was only one customer waiting for their food there wasn't even a line. I didn't mention what had happened and simply placed my order, but her tone while taking it was noticeably unfriendly. While I was there, I also heard another phone call come in, and she did the exact same thing to that customer. It's unfortunate because experiences like this discourage people from coming back. Been here a few times but this last time solidified for me that these are one of the best tacos in Corona. They also have by far the best horchata out of any place here! We got the carnitas tacos which were so juicy and delicious not dry at all. My boyfriend got the Al pastor taco and torta and it was delicious. This has been my go-to spot for authentic tacos and pozole for years! The cashier knows me at this point. Lol It's hard to find a place that makes pozole let alone GOOD pozole, but El Rey hits every time!! It comes with all the things to dress it up as well. I have came here easily over a dozen times. I really wish they would pick up their phone more often to order ahead as there is usually a very slow moving line and a wait for the food. It is also very small and hot inside. It can get crowded very easily. The food is delicious. Have tried their Tortas, Tacos, Quesabirrias, Pozole, Menudo, Burritos. It is all very good! Ok I've tried and handful of tacos spots in Corona and this is by far my favorite. The tacos are loaded, the meat is flavorful and they serve nopales (cactus) and onions on the side. El Rey is a hole in the wall Mexican food joint on the Sixth street. It's not visible from the street so my friend missed it the first time driving by. But it is well worth the trouble because its food is amazing. I ordered a quesa birria because today is Tuesday and it was served piping hot, fresh off the grill, juicy and tasty. The El Rey burrito was pretty good too. Large portion and very satisfying. El Rey's salsa bar offers a good selection of pickled vegetables, 2 green and 2 red salsas. The hot salsa is packed with some heat, which I liked. El Rey is limited in its seating area and not many parking spots for the whole strip mall. I dined in both times I visited, and the quality of the food and sides is amazing. Grilled cactus and onions, salsa choices ranging from medium to quite hot, and a wide range of side veggies. It's definitely a popular place, and the steady flow of people is testimony to their quality. They were grilling a bunch of chicken the first time, and it got smoky inside until someone opened a door. My house special burrito had both carne asada and al pastor inside, and everything was perfectly cooked and assembled. I blended two salsas and loved it all. My second visit a week later was equally enjoyable and slightly more expansive. I'd like to try something from the mariscos menu in the future.
