I've been here so many times and it's one of my go to Mexican foodie spots. The tortillas alone (I'm obsessed!!!!), the portions are amazing, and everything always tastes fresh. The restaurant is always clean, the staff (Leslie and Brianna and the cooks) are super friendly, and I've had a great experience every time I've gone. The ladies are super friendly the decor is kitchie and the food taste good, not great. $4.75 for a taco is outrageous, I ordered 8 tacos and an medium horchata and my bill was $45 dollars. Paid a total of 12.51, the burrito was ready in less than 2 minutes and it was bigger than what I'm used to getting in other locations. Wow. So disappointed. My plate had. Two soft tacos ... AL pastor and Carne asada. Both tasted bland and tough. It was not enjoyable to eat. Gave my jaw a workout. The beans were cold and slimey tasting. The rice was hard, dry, tasteless.... like leftover from last night. I think that's it. .. it felt like it was leftovers. I was in the area and in the mood for some hard shell tacos. I seen El Ranchito Taco Shop in the corner of the Stater Bros. Plaza. There were 2 young ladies working the counter and chatting it up. One of them decided to help me after they had seen me standing there. I ordered their taco special (2 tacos for $5.99). They were delicious and not greasy. There were a lot of options for salsa at the salsa bar. It's a small restaurant with approximately 10 tables inside and plenty of seating outside under the umbrellas. It's nicely painted inside. I got their super fries, super delicious and their drinks have unlimited refills! Love that they put Pico on their carne asada fries. They have limited indoor seating and outdoor seating as well (shared outdoor seating with other businesses). I gave it 4 stars because the service wasnt great... I walked up to the cashier and waited 30 sec-1 minute to talk to her (she was turned around doing other orders), which is fine...I don't mind waiting when I know it's busy. But when she offered to help, there was no ounce of customer service in her bones. No apology, no smile, nothing; everything was super transactional. Wow. Truly the best carne asada fries I've had in a while. Usually a lot of places are a miss, but let me tell you why this place is a hit! First the fries. They are very fresh and not limpy or undercooked like a lot of places I've been too. Second, they are not stingy with the toppings at all! They give you a good amount of cheese, sour cream, guacamole, red onions, cilantro, beans and pick de Gallo. Everything was so perfect and just enough that I didn't even need to use salsa! Third, the carne asada. Usually a lot of these Mexican food spots that serve carne asada tends to be very dry. Not this place, it was freshly grilled and chopped and had just the right amount of moisture and tenderness. This place will definitely be seeing more of my business from here on out!
