Quick summary: Had the privilege of being invited to the soft opening of the Mass Ave location! Fresh, flavorful and original food; margaritas are phenomenal. Staff is so friendly, helpful and makes you feel like family. Warm, clean and welcoming environment. Absolutely must try if you haven't been; prices are a bit on the high side for Mexican food. Deeper dive: My wife, kids and I are regulars at the Carmel location. I lived in Texas and grew up around Mexicans and this is undoubtedly the best Mexican food in Indy. One thing Los Arroyos does especially well is keeping the same employees and they really see each other as family. Enough times eating there, and they'll treat you the same way! In terms of the food, it's always fresh and their salsas are on point and they have lots of different options if you ask; mild all the way up to making you tear up. A few must have items: -Top shelf guacamole -Skinny margarita -Tacos Gobernador -Molcajete -Chocolate churros -Asada a la Norteña The negatives: I do think that the prices are on the high side especially in comparison to other Mexican restaurants in Indy. With that being said, I genuinely believe you get what you pay for. The only other negative is that, as of now, there isn't any outdoor seating. The bottom line: It's not the "hippest" place on Mass Ave but if you want great food, fantastic drinks, wonderful service and a comfortable environment, you gotta come to Los Arroyos. Best arroz con pollo in Indy! Expensive and the other entrees are just mediocre. But mannnn that arroz con pollo will have me coming back. Mouth is watering just thinking about it. Little expensive but cmon ur on Mass Ave what'd you expect. And they load you up with portions , could definitely make two meals out of it. We got carry out via door dash this evening. Ordered chicken fajita and side of guacamole. Food was good but when received the order there was no silverware and no sour cream, beans, rice or guacamole that comes with fajita. Wasn't door dashes problem but they gave small refund which they didn't have to do. Really ruined the meal without the fajita condiments. Made this my lunch choice for today with a friend of mine whom I owed a lunch date from her birthday. The resturant is a small cute modern establishment with beautiful tequila on display behind the bar from moderate to premium pours. We both settled on the arroz con pollo, while we waited they served good chips and salsa: one red salsa and one dark green salsa and they were both amazing! When the food arrived the presentation was on point, but it lacked queso! Our server didn't come back to check on us until after 75% of our food was gone. We watched her take the table next to us order (literally next to us we shared a booth seat) and she didn't even look over to us. I'd never wanted to stiff someone on a tip but today was almost the day, however I just couldn't because I've worked in the industry before. We asked for more queso for the dish and was charged $6 I was not very happy with that. The food overall was good, but dry as it lacked queso which the dish is served with. Truly amazing experience eating at Los Arroyos (downtown Indianapolis location)! This is the best Mexican cuisine I've had in Indy. The ingredients are fresh and all the dishes are chef-made and wonderful. The shrimp and octopus ceviche and the Arroyos Molcajete are must-haves (tip: the molcajete easily serves two!). The margs are also the best around. They have really good weekly specials that make this an easy go-to on weeknights, but it's amazing enough to impress for special occasions. I came here specifically for the crab enchiladas which I called about a week before having able to come in for dinner. The crab enchiladas were lacking in crab and flavor and severely overpriced for enchiladas with very little stuffing. (They were actually flat!) the green sauce was great and the only thing that saved my overpriced tortillas with a little crab. But the service was the worst. They weren't busy. Only two tables and two people at the bar. I asked for a window seat and they acted put out by my request. After being seated by a different person whom I told I was ready to order. She left and another third employee brought me my drink. And then I waited. No one came to bring me chips and salsa. And since it was my first time in I didn't kno if they served them but every other Mexican restaurant does so I checked the other tables and they had chips. So I looked for wait staff The three employees were by the food window chatting. No one looked my way. No one was busy making chips and salsa. So I waited and waited Finally raised my hand to get attention. No one was at the bar. No one was up front. Finally the guy who brought me my drink (sprite) came over and I had to ask for chips and I asked if I could get them and why was I being singled out and ignored. They then brought my overpriced and underwhelming crab enchiladas out. The black beans were overcooked and the taco shell they came in soaked up most of them and the rice was undercooked. Such a sad experience when I called days before and was so excited to treat myself to dinner only to leave crying and upset. They didn't charge me )thank god( but only after she kept offering me a gift card and I told her I would not be coming back. And why would I? The service was atrocious and the food was mediocre even tho $22 is not a mediocre meal price. And $4 for a fountain drink?!?! What in the world are you thinking??? The langostino quesadillas (which I think are seasonal, but on the menu as of May, 2024) are terrific - carmelized onions, perfectly poached meat, fresh avocado slices, crispy homemade flour tortillas. Seriously, could eat those every day. The enchilada rojas with grilled steak were just like what you'd expect in north Texas - soft, cheesy, great red sauce. Kids enjoyed the Arroz Con Pollo. Pro-tip get a couple of orders of the thick homemade corn tortillas to go with your queso appetizer. You won't regret it. Went there over the NBA All-Star weekend, anticipating that I would not be able to get in, but we were able to get seated right away likely because we were early in any event we had a great meal. The drinks are fire honestly some of the best margaritas I've ever had, and we also had the Paul I think it was which was great made with mescal. It's basically a Paloma made with mescal as well as the skinny spicy margarita. Highly recommended. The only disappointment to be honest is that the chips seemed a little stale and the chunky guacamole was really just avocado cut up. I would've preferred the regular guacamole. Had I known that but otherwise everything was good, we had the house special special which is the dish served in the hot crockpot. I was hanging out with a some friends at 16-bit, and we were in the mood to try something new. We decided on Los Arroyos, both and my girlfriend had Arroz Con Pollo. It was very underwhelming compared to when I had it in order restaurants. Everyone at the table had horchata, and like the arroz con pollo it disappointed when compared to other places. My blood orange margarita wasn't great, and neither was her sangria. Our friend had the fajitas, which he enjoyed. However he didn't enjoy his margarita. We shared churros and flan which we all agreed was the best part of our meal. In closing the dessert, service and queso dip were the highlights of our meal. read more

Already a fan of Los Arroyos, decided to check out the downtown Indy location for dinner. We did sit outside, which is nice but there is A LOT of traffic noise. Not recommended if you're really trying to have conversation. Had my favorite skinny Cadillac margarita and arroz con pollo, so good! Glad everything is still good at each location! We have been patrons of Los Arroyos since it opened. The service was and has always been atrocious, but the food was a redeeming factor. After several recent experiences with grotesque service, including a nasty manager, we have decided to no longer ever frequent this establishment. No food is worth being treated badly or waiting for over an hour after ordering your food to get served. An hour to hour and a half experience took three hours today. Inexcusable. My money is worth the hard work I spent earning it. If people want my money they need to earn it - deserve it. This establishment has lost many customers as of tonight. Bad idea to bite the hand that feeds you. This establishment needs to learn manners, hospitality, service etiquette, and appreciation. read more
