Wow, what a professional experience from the minute I walked in the afternoon to make an beard trim appointment for 5:15 pm the same day the experience only grew into a 5 star beard trim experience. I was greeted immediately by the only barber who was shaving/cutting her master piece on a clients head who excused herself to make my appointment for 5:15 pm. Here's the 5th star- I walked in at 5:05 pm and at 5:15 Catalina finished up the final touches on her client and called me! The reason I'm amazed because I've made several appointments at other barbershops and still had to wait another 10 to 20 minutes MAJOR PLUS Catalina was extremely professional and offered her expertise and actually knew how to cut/trim a beard!! You can totally see the lines which looked like it was not even blended! He asked for a medium fade, not low or high but somewhere in between... but it looked like a flattop! So I walk in to the barbershop like around 4pm. the first thing I noticed it was 3 barbers sitting down. 2 white chicks and 1 black dude.. I asked one of them if I can get a haircut, and one of the girls replied "we are fully booked all the way to 6 pm!". and as I looked around there was no body else waiting in line to get a haircut!! But once again, with 3 barbers available doing nothing just sitting down!! maybe cause I'm Mexican that's why they didn't wanna give me a haircut. Or maybe cause they thought I wasn't going to be able to afford their expensive ass haircut prices. 20-30$.. so then I ended up going to another barbershop, I forgot what it's called. Before I even got my haircut I knew I would be going back. The vibe was laid back. The music was good. Luis the owner was being creative, shooting some video and talking about his next art project. Anthony and I were shooting the breeze about whatever. The guys were cracking jokes...like I said, laid back. I'll say this, it's not the kind of place that runs like a Swiss wristwatch...but that's part of the charm. It's a barbershop...it's loose. Back when we were able to have normal outings I frequently visited this place to purchase hair products. After visiting the sushi place next door... My favorite is Layrite Pomade, I know there are other competitors but his is my go to since my high school days. The packaging has changed but overall still the same formula, and I love the scent. El Barber is usually fully stocked and has a great price for my pomade of choice. I have also had the privilege of meeting Luis, the owner of this establishment, he is a down to earth guy and definitely knows his stuff. If you can book an appointment with him it is well worth it. Had a haircut about a month ago and I can say it was an absolute horrible experience, I went to this barbershop to get a better haircut aside from the one I had been going to. I asked how I wanted my haircut and got the complete opposite of what I wanted, horrible experience asked for a fade and just got cut everything bald all around my hair no fading up to my hair just complete bald around my hair, horrible hair cutting skills, do not recommend going here. What these barbers need is some new lessons to get better! Especially 40 bucks! New fan of El Barber! I have gotten 2 haircuts here, about 4 weeks apart. I visited this same shop previously when it was owned by different people and wasn't exactly pleased with what I paid to have my beard trimmed (could have done it myself). Glad to know it is different now. The first time was with Luis, the owner. I actually walked in without an appointment and they decided to take me, but I had to wait, which is totally understandable. Fortunately, it was a Saturday and I was done with work. Time was not an issue. Luis was really nice, talkative, and attentive to my needs. I was pleased with my haircut. The second haircut experience was this past Saturday. I took Luis' advice to schedule an appointment beforehand. I was impressed with how easy it was to book an appointment on their website. I tried to get Luis again, but he was all booked up. I tried another barber on staff, Lorena. Lorena was also very nice, sociable, and attentive. Needless to say, I was also happy with my haircut. Both Luis and Lorena made me feel like they appreciated me going there. That is great customer service right there! Overall, this place is pretty busy (at least on Saturdays), so definitely book an appointment. The prices are more than reasonable and they offer a variety of barbershop services. In addition, they also do other stuff...such as eyebrow threading and nose waxing (those aren't barbershop services, or are they??). Big fan of this place. I highly recommend it. read more

I've been coming to this location since it opened up, I used to go to the Irwindale shop but this shop is closer to my house so there for I come here, and I must say it's my go to spot for a great cut, very chill atmosphere I recommend it to all my friends and family. Try to take my son here for a haircut on a Monday afternoon. Sign on window says "Walk in's welcome." We sign and sit down, we are waiting for about 15 minutes before the only person working in this place walks up and tells us she's taking appointments only and she done at 5 but if I want I can wait for about an hour because another employee may be coming in around 4. This is the 2 nd time in this place the first time my sister n got a mediocre haircut for well over $20 but I said let's give it a second chance. I been here a couple times. Make sure you make an appointment because it will be a long wait if you do not. I learned this my first time coming here and waited quite a long time however from my experience that's normal for barbers. Their fades are really on point. If you are looking for a fade this is the place to go. The thing I found strange was if you make an appointment for a fade online you get charged more than walking in saying you want a haircut.
