For me this review is long over due. Lorena has been cutting my hair for a little under a year now. I actually followed her to this location from her previous job (which is closer to my home). Since she is such a good stylist I don't mind driving a bit further to see her. From the very beginning she has always been attentive to my needs and wants with whatever change in style I wanted. With each haircut I have been very impressed with how she just nails it each time. I was always that kind of guy that wasn't happy with my haircut initially and just waited for it to grow out a little to look good. But with Lorena's haircuts, I feel my hair is on point straight from the beginning. I've always had a hard time staying with one hair stylist, so I feel really blessed to have found Lorena. I have been praising her hair cut skills, but other than that she is also a friendly and personable person to get to know and I always enjoy our conversations. El Barber itself is a very chill barber shop. It has a cool almost hipster vibe without the pretentiousness. There is plenty of comfortable seating for guests to wait on. I went to this place for the first time after 5 years , its new management and the wait was pretty good didn't wait much , they called my son pretty quick. The barber did take a long time in cutting my sons hair, and it is pricey I think for a hair cut. If you think 20 dls for a hair cut I can go to super cuts and have them wash and cut my sons hair for 18. read more

Highly recommended! My wife stumbled into this place after we ordered sushi to go from their neighbor sawa sushi. I'm a firm believer when I say that your hair is a key part of ones self identity. So it's hard to find a place worthy of that trust. I'm glad I found it in Lorena. I first walked in, was greeted with a polite welcoming and a smile that lit the shop up. Mind you, I walked in without an appointment. I noticed a lot of people waiting and quickly realized I made the mistake of walking in with no time to wait because I had errands to run. I wanted to take full advantage of my Saturday off work. I asked Lorena for a card and made an appt later in the afternoon. When I came back for my appt, I had a few minutes to appreciate the decor that pays homage to old Azusa in its prime back in the day. Each item neatly decorated also gives you insight to the owner and you can appreciate the stories behind each piece. While checking out the vintage decor, I noticed customers leaving after being serviced and each one had a pep in their step. It was as if each hair cut gave them a boost in their self confidence and self worth. My experience with Lorena was no different. She was friendly, attentive and I felt like I knew her for years. I even took her suggestion and let her work her magic. You can tell she takes great pride in her work and is a master in her own right. Had the best shave experience at El Barber on north Azusa! Andrew was the man! I had an appointment for a head and face straight razor shave and I was not disappointed! Andrew took close to 3 hours to give me a fantastic head shave with an amazing facial shave. He took his time and studied the contours of my neck to make sure that he was giving me the closest shave possible. I was treated wonderfully by everyone there and will definitely be coming back! Have been going here a handful of times and it is the last draw with this Barber. He might shave you right but he needs to take a class of his own in keeping his appointments with his clients. This was the 3rd time we show up and he is running late. Then he wants to pawn you off to another barber that is not as busy as he is. Which we had no problem with till the time before when the previous barber screwed up my sons haircut were we had gone back for him to fix. And today was the same shit this time he blew up because I explained to him his unprofessionalism in front of his customers and cursed at me. Usually my go to guy is Louis everyone knows he's the man but today I sat with Lorena and she did a great job. Lorena Gave me exactly what I asked for which sometimes is hard to get. I got a mid tight zero blend, texturized my crown and she cleaned me up with a razor. , Lorena has a good chill vibe, really nice And makes you feel comfortable in the chair. Called ahead before going, to see if they were busy and was told they werent busy at all, (then just hung up the phone on me??? Wtf, but okay), arrived 10min later and was told that they had appointments coming up but they would try to fit me in. Then I waited an actual HOUR, with nobody acknowledging me or anything. I ended up just walking out, I have better things to do with my time if you cant give me accurate information over the phone. We used to come to this location when it was run by the previous owner and were always happy with the cuts. The previous barber was relocating to a shop to far away, so we thought we'd give the new barbers a try. I brought my 2 boys for cuts and was really pleased with the time it took and the quality. It is hit or miss. We really wanted to like this location. I have 5 guys in my life that use to all go to Hellboys. El Barber took over we really hoped they would continue the great service. Sadly I can't say it has. It's hit or miss if you get a good cut. All my family has been with different barbers here. They all are ok not friendly or even professional. Today was just ridiculous though. My husband made a 9:30 appointment online. Appointment was made yesterday. At 10:35 he was still waiting to get his haircut. No apology, no explanation, not even an acknowledgment, nothing. That is so unprofessional. Sadly my family will have to take our business elsewhere. I HATE to but I don't know what else to do. They didn't not make my husband feel like they even wanted him there.
