One thing to note is that they add a 5% "culinary contribution" charge to the bill. I did not see this displayed on the menu or noted beforehand. So just something to keep in mind. We got the 3 taco meal with rice/beans and it was delicious. The appetizer chips and guacamole was good too. Overall, it was good food, good ambiance and I would recommend. The one recommended is to lower the music as it was hard to have a conversation. It was very loud. Also, just make the menu prices higher instead of adding on hidden fees. We visited on Friday night and were able to get a reservation a day in advance for our party of 4. While we're currently in a drought it's important to note you have to ask for water instead of automatically being served. Not a terrible thing just a note. Our group got chips and salsa to start off plus the elote, followed by enchiladas, tacos, and a taco salad. The service was relatively quick once we ordered our food. The service and ambiance are always good at Los Chingones. It's fun to stop by for some tasty salsa and warm corn chips. I had the avocado taco, made gluten-free, so it wasn't deep-fried, but unfortunately the avocado was icy. It was also the same price as the meat tacos, which isn't really fair. I see I last reviewed this location two years ago, and here I am again, still asking for more vegan tacos! There are so many possibilities: cauliflower, mushrooms, roasted veggies, beans, quinoa, or walnut taco "meat." I really do hope they add more vegan options to their menu. read more

To celebrate my last birthday lunch for this year I chose Los Chingones. They were supposed to be having all kinds of fun stuff for Cinco De Mayo but with all the rain and upcoming snow, that was a bust. Nevertheless the restaurant was absolutely packed. We waited about 10 minutes at the front, debating whether to go somewhere else when the friendly hostess noticed us. She took us to a booth by the kitchen but at least we were next to a wall so the noise was only on one side. We were given a small menu with mostly drink specials for the holiday but there were some tacos. We both opted for regular menu items - I had the chicken enchiladas and my friend had the taco salad. Our server was Jo and she was very distracted. As the restaurant emptied out we thought service would be more attentive but no such luck. She even slammed down a carafe of water on our table as she ran by - not even glancing at us. Luckily we were capable of pouring our own water ;) it took just over a half hour to get our food and by that time we were second guessing our decision not to go somewhere else. When we finally got our food it was good. My adobo chicken enchiladas had a delicious slaw on top and just a hint of spice. The smoky sauce was very good. After another 20 minutes we were able to flag down Jo so I could get a box. Then she dropped off a plate with 2 dark colored balls and told us they were peanut butter mole cookies. The flavor was good but it left my fingers very greasy. Another server brought a plate of churros with chocolate sauce and a candle and wished me a happy birthday. The churros were tasty and filled with a little bit of custard. I have been to Los Chingones before and always had a great experience. I would go back but not on Cinco de Mayo. read more

Updating my review. I've since been to this restaurant twice and each time the food has blown me away. The queso, fish taco, and house marg are going to be my new go-tos. Happy hour deals are incredible and the staff has since been kind and accommodating with helpful menu suggestions. The ambiance is a lively vibe, but still a very loud atmosphere you need to be aware of if you're sensitive to this kind of thing. Not great for a first or second date because it's hard to talk, but perfect for a longtime partner date, friend date, or a happy hour stop before dinner. Patrick the manager was helpful in resolving any issue and I was able to bring a friend to try more new things. Will keep coming back now that I've had these new experiences! read more

What the heck has happened to some of the awesome restaurants after covid? Has anyone noticed that they now lack quality and good service? I realize many things have changed after Covid, but too bad this place changed for the worse. The vibe of this place is okay; the music they had the day I went was annoyingly loud. Food is mehhhh. We had chips and salsa; salsa was tasty, but the downside was that they charge for chips and salsa. The tacos were cold and greasy and tasted like leftovers. The 3 pieces of shrimp okay, but the other two were not so good. There was so much grease that the tortilla fell apart; it was hard to eat. After eating here, I got a horrible stomach ache and got sick. Overpriced for what you get, from beer to food. Not even close to authentic Mexican or tex mex. Service was very good, however! Good food and good service. Me and my friend had the pork ramen and it was perfect on a cold day! I like this restaurant, but be aware of the hidden charges. I know more restaurants are doing this but it's dishonest. They are "committed" to not raise menu prices, but all checks are charged a service fee to pay back of house staff. So rather than putting it upfront in the prices, they put it in tiny print on the back. Remember, unless you're paying attention, you'll likely then tip your server off of this extra fee. My check had a EAGS charge- which I read is "employee action group". I don't know if this is the same as the back of house service fee. I just wish restaurants would be upfront rather than hiding this. It is a tip for back go house, which I'm cool with, they need more money, but I want to know fully what I am getting into. read more

Personally, I enjoy the cocktail of the day (a cucumber and cilantro margarita), the T and T margarita, chips and guac, and the two tacos off the happy hour menu. I really loved the drinks- T and T was my favorite- a sweet, simple tang flavored margarita. Los Chingones is a great option in a wonderful little downtown area in DTC. We have been here a few times and have been pleased every time. I will say we have sat on the patio every visit in part because the music is too loud in the restaurant for my taste. If you suffer from poor hearing you may find it difficult to carry on a conversation inside the restaurant. The patio however is fine. Our service has always been very good and every server we have had has been super attentive and polite. The food is very good! Some tacos are better than others based on personal taste, but they have great options to choose from (the Birria are my favorite) Also the Elote queso dip is incredibly good! The price is wonderful for what you receive as well. My only criticism is they have a very limited non-alcoholic drink selection. It was balanced and had a good kick. I ordered a couple tacos, one pastor and one duck confit, and an elote. The pastor taco was great, but the duck confit was unlike anything I'd ever eaten. It was juicy and flavorful, and the mustard and hoisin worked beautifully together. The crispy onions were the perfect touch of crunch and didn't get soggy at all. The corn was also delicious. Came back to Los Chingones to give their tacos and food another try. My partner had the Mexican pizza and 1. That thing is huge and 2. That thing is delicious! The Mexican pizza is such a good option when you want more food than the tacos and at a really reasonable price. I also ordered the duck confit taco and the paleo taco. As I've said before in my reviews, the paleo taco is amazing. The crispy tofu is so good and the flavors added are very good. I personally was a bit disappointed by the duck confit, it was a bit drier than I hoped for. The wait staff noticed and asked about my thoughts and even removed it from our bill which I thought was so kind and not necessary. I really appreciate the team at Los chingones and I will be back to have more paleo tacos in the future! read more

If you like cilantro then this place is for you. My guest had 3 tacos with beans and rice. She didn't know there was going to be cilantro in her dish. The waiter was kind and took the dish back. I think they just picked out the cilantro and brought it back since there was still some on it after. I ordered the roasted Brussels Sprouts and that too had quite a bit of cilantro. The sprouts dish was quite generous. Our waiter was OK, with little check in, never got asked if we wanted refills on our drinks. Also, no coffee. The place looks fun, the music was loud. Here on a conference. Come to this restaurant with my GF. Waiter seems to be having a bad day from the moment we sat down. Tried small talk and he acted like he never even heard me talking. I ordered a beer while my GF looked through cocktail menu. When ordering, he asked us both for ID. I presented mine, she forgot hers at the hotel. We showed him digital version of drivers license, passport, and work ID. I am 51 and she is 42. Neither could even possibly pass for 30. Not even close. We were sat immediately and greeted by our server. She was very kind and offered some popular menu items. We started with the house guac (was more on the creamy side-- I prefer more chunky guac)-- but, had some nice flavor. For dinner we all got 3 tacos plates. I got Birria Taco, Baja Fish Taco, Bang Bang Crispy Shrimp Taco. The shrimp was probably my favorite but all freshly made with amazing flavors. The vibe is very chill, tasty food and great service.
