I'm sure its busier during weekdays in DTC area - high business population vs residence. Overall not impressed with their tacos, especially meat quality considering the higher prices. I usually like to try as many as possible for a variety of their meat flavors. Ordered the birria, shrimp, pork belly and carne asada tacos. I've had better taco places with flavorful meat at more affordable prices. The meat tasted dry and lacked flavors. The consume that came with the birria tacos was good. They charge extra to add meat on top of the burrito price, close to $20 total. The mixed cocktail was really good and my favorite part of the meal. The ambiance has a cool, colorful vibe. I love restaurants that take reservations during the pandemic. It makes planning so much easier! I met up with some new friends on a Friday night, and it was pretty crowded. The parking situation is fortunately easy, with plenty of metered and garage parking around the block. I finally got to sit in one of those "bubble tents" that popped up with the rise of pandemic dining. Admittedly not too exciting but glad I had the experience. We started off with whatever daily margarita special they had. Pretty sure it was the equivalent of two drinks. So good! For my entrée, I got the pig nachos, which were super filling. Would recommend as an appetizer for the table, if you're coming with a group. One of the girls said the tacos weren't the best, but I'll have to try those for myself next time. From the moment we sat down we were greeted with a little attitude, when trying to explain to our server laura that the second order of margarita was too sour she gave us looks of disbelief until she tried it when she took it back to the bar. Justin the manager came over to ask how he could help because after receiving the discount for a free appetizer from Yelp they said that it was implied that it would only be the guac or queso. Ether way he gave us a decent discount. The nachos were definitely light on the protein. As for the pork belly tacos they weren't crunchy, just tough and squishy. Shows the cook or whoever is in the kitchen doesn't care about the food quality Definitely not a place I would return to or recommend. I've never been to Colorado before. Visited friends who moved into town a few months ago. Los Chingones must be pretty iconic for them to bring me here as my first meal. The prices at this restaurant are absurd for what you're getting. They have a "chef special" taco that is $1 extra from the $5.50 original price and it's ground beef with Big Mac sauce. Meanwhile a carne asada taco is .50 more. Make it make sense. I think out of the entire list of tacos you can choose from maybe 3 of them don't have some sort of up charge on them. Also a skinny margarita is $2 more than a regular margarita when it's less ingredients. They also charge a 4% service fee that's written in fine print at the bottom of the menu to "help pay the kitchen and staff a higher wage". I think they can pay their staff just fine since they up charge almost every single item on their menu. This place has no business being as expensive as it is. Do not waste your time here, there are so many better Mexican restaurants for a fraction of the price. As far as the atmosphere goes, I think if they turned the music down slightly it would be more enjoyable. You can hardly hear people with it so loud. They also have half circle booths, those belong in restaurants with TV's so people can see different sports going on. They don't have any entertainment like that and the booths make zero sense. I wish they had normal booths. The high table stools are metal and very uncomfortable. Who wants to enjoy an expensive meal on a metal chair. If you want to eat here by all means go for it but there are comfier places, with better food and better prices close by. read more

Did someone say happy hour?? This is the spot if your in the dtc area. Happy hour is from 3-5:30 on weekdays. It's a nice spot for a big group of parties as well. It's very hip and casual vibes. They have great drink specials- but our margaritas was kinda light on the alcohol. But our tacos weren't skimped. The chicken tacos I think were the best out of all. The pork didn't have much flavor in my opinion. The shrimp tacos are battered and ware ok. I wish they had a good green chili tho or some spicy sauces to top it off. Our server was great. She was on top of everything and we didn't have to wait or look for her when needing anything. Next time I go back I'll post more pictures. read more

My husband brought home a delectable selection of tasty treats from Los Chingones and for two straight nights I've basked in the joys of not cooking or cleaning up while feasting in my own house. We had the elote, which had great flavor but was a little too soft. I'm chalking that up to the dish not holding up to the car ride and would order it again if I was dining in the restaurant. We got the nachos as well, and I really liked the pickled onions. My husband had the chicken burrito and I had the veggie burrito bowl. We got several toppings with our food, green chile, gaullijo, sour cream, and guacamole, which I thought took it to the next level. There was a chicken queso and a regular queso as well- personally I liked the regular queso best. Finally we all shared the churros with chocolate sauce, which were phenomenal. The food was good... for the table, we shared the guac, queso, elotes and brussels sprouts, all of which were happily consumed. I had three tacos: Birria, Pollo Frito and Bang Bang Crispy Shrimp. Given all the starters, two probably was enough, but they were so good! I liked the mix of both traditional tacos and some unconventional (but delicious) choices. I really want to like this place but seems something is wrong every time we go. 1.) first time we went I was excited for the Birria tacos. When receiving my meal I got a tiny ramekin filled barely halfway with just the grease from the Birria consume. I brought it up to the server and she said it was suppose to be like that so I shrugged my shoulders and went with it. Not enough for three tacos and just the grease. 2.) the second time I wanted to try the Birria tacos again. This time I received the brothy part of the consume with no grease ! This was exciting. But half of a tiny ramekin is not enough to dip three tacos in. This time the rice was severely uncooked and so crunchy and the beans had 0 flavor. For having an actual chef and staff not having quality control is sad. 3.) third time we decided to take my mother and sister when they were in town for Christmas. There was hair in not one of 4 dishes. But THREE. My sister had a hair cooked into her quesadilla. I had hair in my taco and my boyfriend had a hair on his plate. No one in the open kitchen was wearing a hat or hairnet. This was repulsive. Luckily the manager took care of our appetizers but they only took care of the quesadilla off the bill. Pretty unacceptable and ridiculous to have that many hairs?! What are the chances. We found this place after a round of tennis trying to find a quick but satisfying meal. The overall ambiance was good as there was indoor and outdoor seating. Keeping in mind we came in late the fish was over cooked but the trimmings were good (pico and pickles onions). The flautas were an appetizer and honestly only enough for one person. My daughter had a burrito and her date had a naked burrito. They were not impressed as they are comparing to food in Atlanta area where Mexican food prices are low and chips and salsa are free. I picked out 5 small pieces of chicken and was charged extra $5, asked for green chili and there was very little Chile and asked to make it a little spicier and they added some awful pickled jalapeños and charged an extra $.50. Fun, laidback Mexican spot with great HH. I came on a random weekday around 4pm, and was surprised how many people were already dining here! HH is great - margaritas are strong and tasty, and all the light bites are great for snacking. I particularly enjoyed the Mexican Cotija taco... the cotija patty is something I've never had before, and it sort of reminded me of halloumi with the firmer texture. It was unique and flavorful!
