You know how you just want to find that special little place where the menu is on the wall and the booths are deep. We found one today in Los Compadres on Bellflower Blvd. Ok, so we came too late for the Menudo and the Horchata, the Menudo I can understand, but running out of Horchata? Oh well, they do have a soda machine. The chips were good and especially we liked the fresh salsa. We were offered two helpings as the small place got really busy. So let's see what the food is going to be like. My lovely wife ordered the shrimp tacos and a big carnitas burrito with red sauce. After finishing the tacos which she said was super on crunchy home made tortillas, she decided to take the big burrito to go. I ordered the Caldo de Res which came with fresh cilantro and onions and a side of some real good rice. The beef in the caldo was plentiful and the vegetables were enough for a great tasting soup that went really well with the hand made corn tortillas. Be aware that this small place is not taking charge cards although stickers on the door indicate Visa and MC. The waitstaff are young and learning and tried hard to please. The food definitely made up for any service mishaps. The big carnitas burrito we took home and devoured afterwards, convinced us that we should revisit the next time we are in the area. read more

We have been here before and sometimes there is long wait. We had no wait we went on my birthday on a weekday after the lunch rush about 3:00pm had a great early dinner. My dish was amazing I had the combo plate Enchiladas Suiza, roja, and verde. Loved all three enchiladas!! My husband got a hard taco, enchilada Suiza, and mole enchilada he also LOVED IT! This actual location has changed owners a few times, but I hope this time it works out for the new owner. The food here is super authentic and delicious. Salsas are great with lots of flavor. You may have to wait a bit for your food, but it's well worth it. So far my favorite is their Torta Cubans. I really wanted to try their menudo, but my husband and I showed up around 11am on a Sunday and they were sold out already! If it was sold out that has to mean that it's probably delicious too! This place is literally across the street from my home. It's my go to when I don't feel like driving somewhere. I've been here handful of times. Usually I get the hard shell tacos or a burrito. I haven't ate all day, I was pretty hungry so I wanted something more filling. I ordered the chilaquiles and added chorizo con huevo instead of just egg. I knew I'd have to pay more BUT $12.99 from $7.99 and look at the portion. I do not mind paying extra but compare my portion to the other photos of chilaquiles. Hardly any chorizo or egg and I asked for potatoes instead of rice and look at how much the gave me. Sorry but I can go to other Mexican restaurants that serve better portions for the same amount or even less. Also $4.50 for a bean and cheese burrito. That was for my roommate and she also said that it was on the small side for that price. I like supporting local restaurants but this will be my last time here. $20. First and Last time eating at this place. Me and my Husband ordered Juevos Rancheros, we asked the waitress if it comes with meat she said no but she can ask if they can add it. She comes back and ask what kind of meat we want we said Carnitas or pork they use for Chile verde. She comes back with carne asada and asked if that was okay. We said yes because we were not trying to give her a hard time. But the moment my husband took a bite out of the meat he was so grossed out he wanted to throw up . The meat was bad, it had a stench like if it was old meat. He told the waitres she took his plate back and took the meat off. My husband tells the waitress we shouldn't have to be charged for the meat. The waitress talks to the cook in the back and snapped at my husband telling him "That's fine you don't want to pay for your food you don't have to. She assumed we didn't want to pay. My husband told her and the cook to smell the food they didn't budge. She totally ignored us we left without paying since they left us there standing without an apology. read more

I had the nachos with carne asada. The chips were limp, there was a dab of guacamole, maybe 6 pieces of jalapeños, and processed cheese. NOT what I expected from a Mexican restaurant with a good reputation. Honestly, I've had better nachos at a baseball game. At least there you know you're going to get processed cheese, never expected it from here. Thank you very little. One more thing. Dont order thru door dash. Food is absolute garbage. Requested no pigs foot/ and add hominy from the door dash menu. I got 2 pieces of pigs feet and no hominy. Also there was about 5 pieces of stomach in it. And the size i got was about half a gallon. mediocre stew with no flavoring. I also got a chilaquiles plate. Beans and rice are straight from a can. Personally, I love spicy food, so the fact that the salsa was spicy was a big plus for me! Second, the portions were large! The portions are ridiculously big and the prices are really low. They also have breakfast specials all day, not a huge variety but eggs, hash brown, pancakes and bacon.
