Ive never ordered carne asada fries and received fries covered in cheese with ground meat on top. I assumed it would be the regular ones with the avocado, beans, sour cream, & pico de gallo especially cause the lady asked me if I wanted the beans on it and I said yes and I asked for no tomatoe & she said ok. However the last time I ordered was Sunday, March 6 and instead of chorizo n eggs, I was given chorizo n beans... not good since I specifically said chorizo n eggs and very little beans... in Spanish. The menudo was just okay. It was not cooked enough to the hominy was still pretty solid instead of soft. The large is really small and not worth the amount of money charged. They also do serve breakfast regardless of what the owner says. read more

came to this restaurant after I was kicked out of a prior restaurant because I couldn't speak Spanish? this restaurant has decent food I come here often I've never had an issue with them and they have never had an issue with me speaking English which is strange that we have to say that nowadays in America. My hubby and mother-in-law introduced this place to me. Love it. Can't think of any complaints about it. It's great for those no-one-wants-to-cook nights. Our ordering ranges from the tacos (shrimp, fish, or carne asada), chile rellenos (love those! nice big chiles!), costillas con nopales (my m-i-l's favorite), the carne asada plate (enough to feed two if you tried), to the caldo de camaron (hubby's fave, especially when he's feeling under the weather). My first impression of the restaurant was that it was tiny but not too tiny like others I've been at before. It was clean and had Aztec like paintings/pots for decor. The menu was definitely something of a puzzle. Not only are all the photos in the wall a bit overwhelming but you can't quite make out what some of them are. None of them are titled but I did notice on a different wall that they have the numbers of the photos plus a title and price. So, you have to do a bit of matching up to see what you're going to be ordering. I would definitely recommend them to upgrade their menu display. As I mentioned, the place is tiny when compared to some bigger restaurants but there is still room for people to sit. It has 5 larger tables that seat 4 people each and 2 small "intimate" tables that seat 2 people each in the middle. Although, I can see how those two intimate tables can be a bit awkward. If there's more than 2 people in line ordering they'll be standing right over you or next to you as you eat. I ended up ordering a Carnitas Wet Burrito, my usual go to Mexican food. Ordered it with Guacamole inside (of course it's extra for that). They charged 50 cents to use your card to pay which I don't mind but thought it's worth mentioning. I got take out so couldn't be a good judge of the service, they were great taking my order at least. The prices overall seemed fair, my order was $9.47 and the portion is definitely on the larger side. Normally, I get an option of Green or Red sauce but this location looks like they have their one option. The sauce is like a soup they poured onto it with peppers, onions, tomato and I'm not sure what else. The burrito itself was good and had a little spicy kick. I have been going to Lupitas for over 15 years. The staff is like family and the food is absolutely amazing. I have never been disappointed by the outstanding customer service they have and how they are always willing to help you with any suggestion when you are struggling to figure out what is good because everything on their menu is awesome! The chef! Let's talk about the chef. He is so dedicated that I have never seen him take a day off. The chef is also the owner which shows how dedicated he is to taking care of his customers. He's so friendly and works his butt off so we can have the most amazing Mexican food ever. I love walking in there and seeing all the families and their children having a great time. This is definitely a family place that I have taken mine too. I also have to say whenever you call in an order it is always super accurate and always ready when you show up. Came to this restaurant cause it's the closest Mexican restaurant to me. Restaurant is clean and they also have a salsa bar. I placed my order of beef stew and enchiladas. I noticed that one of the cooks was eating while working or eating where the food is cooked which is definitely against health procedures. They should have a break room. Also saw handling of payment and food without handwashing in between. Staff should definitely be re-trained on proper food handling. Might not come back here read more

This isn't any of that high falutin' Mexican food that you might find in Downtown Long Beach or at La Huasteca in Lynwood. The restaurant isn't pretty, but it is clean, and that's my big concern. When you walk into Lupita's the first thing you'll notice is that there's no real menu. They have pictures of all the dishes up over the register and you just order by number. My favorite is the #36, which is 5 chicken taquitos and then I get rice and beans too. The taquitos come smothered in Guacamole, Lettuce, Sour Cream and the yummiest salsa. Yum! Make sure you get some extra salsa to pour on top too. You'll thank me later. I did deduct one star for the service. Last time I was there with a group of people that I work with and they were fine. This time I carried out and the service was pretty bad. The girl working the register decided not to like me for whatever reason. Oh well. I'm still gonna go back for those Taquitos. read more
