Taco plate with an additional taco - deliciousness
    La Shauna N.

Absolutely delicious! The place is only opened Fridays and Saturdays which I learned the hard way by driving there on multiple occasions and finding out they were closed. This place is probably the best Mexican food in Hayward. The beans are so flavorful and the owner is so kind. Really a nice environment in a slightly hidden part of downtown.

Los Compadres has been here for 50+ years. don't remember being here before. offerings: traditional menu-slightly different from modern taquerias. eats: 2 sopes with rice & beans (10.99) -corn meal dishes topped with beans, chile verde, lettuce, cheese, salsa fresca, mild sauce & sour cream. -chili verde didn't taste spicy, slightly dry. the red salsa has a bit of heat. take outs: -will slower try older mexican eateries to get idea what traditional mexican tastes like.

Ive been eating at this family run restaurant since i was a little kid. Started with rice & bean burritos and still eating the rice, bean & cheese burritos!! Their homemade salsa is delicious and make sure you buy a bottle to take home. I don't eat meat anymore but would recommended you try the chili Verde super burrito with the chili verde sauce on top!!!! Also make sure to have a cold beer or 2! Oh and tell Ignacio ashley sent you!

*** Los Compadres is OPEN for Business *** Limited hours: Friday - Sunday from 12:00-6pm for take-out or delivery orders through Uber Eats! Family-owned and operated by the Ramirez Family since 1966 and serving consistent delicious, Mexican comfort food...visited for the first time on a high school field trip for Spanish class (yay. Ms Jimenez!) and just as good as I remember! Shredded beef burrito is always flavorful with the usual fixings of beans rice, lettuce with sour cream and guac on the side. Their hot sauce is the best! Friendly and fast service...with "SIP", best to order ahead of time and pick up...Most menu items available and offering drinks, flan (and chocolate flan) to go...cashier is now at the back left with a plexi to protect the customer and employees. Show this business and the workers how much you appreciate them and tip them well! ** Masks required to enter and order...mandatory for most of the Bay Area now for everyone's safety!

Two item platter - crispy taco with beef and Chile Verde burrito

We recently discovered this hidden gem right in our backyard. It's located in Downtown Hayward and has been around for many decades! Tons of free street parking. They're open only Friday and Saturdays and their prices have changed relative to what you see online. Despite the increase in prices, the pricing is still very reasonable for the quality and portions you receive. I heard service is slow but that's because it's mostly run by one person at the front. My husband went to order takeout on a Friday before 5PM and it took about 20-30 min to get the foods. Nice service but he does see how slow the service can get. Fortunately we weren't in a rush and planned accordingly. We ordered grilled super carne asada burrito and two item platter with crispy shredded beef tacos and chile verde burrito. Both items came out to about $30 including tax. Not bad. The burrito was so flavorful! It's pretty big and juicy. We killed that entire burrito. My two item platter was delicious - the rice and beans were good. Some may say its salty but love the extra sodium and I think I taste garlic? I tasted lots of garlic which I love in my foods. The chile verde burrito was a bit soggy due to the meat but it held up fine. Gobbled it down quickly. The crispy taco was still crispy and delicious with the hot sauce. We also got a bag of chips to go for a couple bucks with sauces. The sauces were SO GOOD.The chips were salty but as I said, I love sodium. They were crispy and went well with the sauces. I wish they provided more sauces but it costs extra. The meal tasted like something delicious from your grandma's kitchen. It hit all the right spots and was comforting. We will definitely be back to try other items on the menu, including their carnitas special on Saturdays.

We were brought fresh tortilla chips to start, which were great, along with a Lazy Susan-style setup of salsas and toppings. Unfortunately, this was a bit of a miss for me--there were raw onions, raw jalapeños, a green salsa, and more of a plain red hot sauce rather than a true salsa. I would have preferred something more traditional like a good pico de gallo or a more balanced house salsa. Ordered a bottle of Dos Equis, which at $7 felt a bit steep. Most entrées were priced between $17-$25, which is pretty standard. I had the carnitas and they were excellent--really flavorful and well-prepared. I also tried a bite of the chile relleno, which was solid as well. Overall, the food was good and the service was strong. That said, it's a bit out of the way for me, and while I enjoyed it, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

We arrived around 4:30 on a Sunday and were seated in the bar area. After waiting 10-15 minutes with no water, chips, or salsa, we still had no idea who was supposed to be serving us. The bartenders never acknowledged us, and nobody stopped by to even say, "We'll be right with you" or thank us for our patience. Eventually, someone came over and asked if we were ready to order. Our food arrived almost right away, but my fiancé realized his added carne asada was missing. The waiter didn't bring it out until he was nearly finished with his meal because he never rang it in.. I ordered the combination fajitas, and they were just okay. The entire time, there was a woman walking around in a blazer who appeared to be a manager, but she seemed more focused on training the bartender than checking on guests. Had she been paying attention, she would have clearly seen how frustrated we were. When our server finally brought the check, we noticed we had been charged twice for the chilaquiles, plus separately for the carne asada that didn't even arrive with the meal. After another 5 minutes, I flagged down who I believe was the manager to fix the bill. She corrected it and brought it back, but then we were left waiting another 5-10 minutes for our server to actually process the payment. The waiter never even thanked us before we left. Overall, the experience was incredibly disappointing, especially considering how much we enjoyed this place in the past. Neither of us plans to return.
