My boyfriend and I found this restaurant two years ago and have been regulars ever since. The atmosphere is great. The staff treats you like they've known you all their lives. Whenever we go in they automatically know our order. I would definitely recommend the chicken or jamrock quesadillas paired with a margarita. Today was my first time here and it was great! My friends and I were greeted with a warm welcome and already the ambiance and atmosphere felt splendid. I loved that the server explained to us the different types of meats (we were all going for tacos) and honestly just made it exciting for us first timers (as a bonus, everyone is served warm chips and salsa to start off). Los Compadres is excellent. I'd give it 6 stars if I could. The food is really good and generous portions. The chips were among the best I've had and the salsa was spicy but not overwhelming. They are also free. Service was leisurely but still quite accommodating. I highly recommend the "Philly" nachos. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. Gonna do something different in this review. I am gonna keep a running journal of my experience here. Starts by walking in on a Friday night. About 1/3 Of the tables are empty. No sign to wait to be seated or seat yourself. All the free tables are dirty. After making eye contact with 2 of the staff and being ignored, I practicly walk into the kitchen to get someone to acknowledge me. They say sit anywhere. So I sit in a booth. 2 minutes later a family of 3 walks in. Immediately someone comes up to them and apologies for me taking a whole booth and sits them at a smaller table. I tried to signal that I was willing to move but the staff was too busy ignoring me. After announcing to the whole restaurant that I was basically a jerk, I no longer feel like meeting anyone half way. I sit there at a dirty table for about 10 minutes as the waitress brings my new nemesis chips. Then water. Then margaritas. My table is still dirty. Finally someone wipes down my table and brings me a menu. Of course the people who came in after me have already ordered before I even get a menu. Another 5 minutes pass and I finally get chips and salsa. The chips are a little stale but I eat them anyway. It might be the only sustenance that I get for sometime. The salsa has a good spice to it. It is not the typical ketchup sauce that many places pass off as salsa in many places on the east coast. 2 more groups have entered. They get chips and salsa and drinks right away. Still waiting to order. Live music is starting to be played. 2 old guys that are doing a good job with sitting on the dock in the bay. I finally get to order. Some time later the band is breaking into boat drinks by jimmy Buffett. They are the best thing about this place but it's certainly not Mexican. The food finally comes. I ordered steak fajitas. The steak and onions are burnt. There is literally 1 piece of bell pepper in the whole order. The flank steak is cut with the grain instead of against the grain making the meat very tough. The rice was served stone cold. I really have no idea where the other reviews on here came from. This is NOT good food let alone good Mexican or texmex food. Waiting to speak to a manager but I cannot seem to get anyone's attention. read more

Service was super friendly! Even in the midst of some drunk annoying patrons they kept it cool. We just happened to be in the area for a tournament and found them through Yelp as we like to do. We tried this place yesterday for the first time. Pitiful. Ordered beef burrito and it was rancid. I vomited after one bite, and ended up with food poisoning. Another family member took a bite, vomited, and threw it in the garbage. I am contacting the health department after I am done vomiting. I've noticed when eating at any restaurant that serves Mexican or anything similar and you buy the most typical Tex-Mex food (refried beans, rice, fajitas, etc), you're going to be let down unless your taste buds aren't as refined or you simply enjoy those dishes. However, there are the exceptions like this place that serve the above-mentioned dishes, but also serve other things like fried tortilla tacos, home made empanadas that have more filling than its outside counterpart, made from scratch wings and various choices of what tortilla you'd like for your tacos. I've always been going to another Mexican joint and never left, but I feel like I wasn't giving any other joints a chance. So I went to R&R Tacqueria last week only to be upset and disappointed by their sheer mediocrity of being shady, serving the wrong food, some of it being slightly cold and having tough and I mean TOUGH TONGUE. I've NEVER in my LIFE had tough tongue. A HUGE disappointment. And honestly, I wasn't expecting much from here partly due to R&R's horrendous experience. My brother and I came here on Saturday early afternoon and found a couple families eating here. Wait, families?? Yes families. It tells me that this place is family-friendly. There's 1 TV that's showing ESPN, a waitress being very friendly to her patrons, a cook in the back singing to himself and another guy being down to earth to the people at the bar. We walk in and the guy in the blue shirt told us to sit anywhere and he will bring us a menu shortly. We sit at a booth by the entrance and the guy with the blue shirt came through with the menus then conversed with us for a few minutes before we ordered. We told him we'd like to try out his wings (chipotle flavor), empanadas and guacamole for starters. He left and put the orders in then started talking to the people at the bar again. In my head, every person working there is wearing a uniform except the guy in the blue shirt. Hmm... Is he the owner?? After what seemed like 10 minutes, the guy in the blue shirt came with our appetizers. The wings and empanadas were piping hot. The wings were really flavorful, tender and juicy. You could tell they actually cooked the wings rather than heating pre-cooked and frozen wings. The empanadas were AWESOME. You can tell from the way they're made that it's made from scratch and the filling/outer crust ratio is like 90/10. They have a slightly crispy outside and a very juicy and flavorful inside. The guacamole was guacamole; nothing special but still pretty good because I love avocado! We wanted to order their tacos, torta, tamales and chimichanga, but the guy told us about the 10 tacos for $17.50 deal so we just took that order instead lol. We decided to get 3 flour tortillas, 5 corn tortillas and 2 fried corn tortillas, 4 lengua, 2 fish, 2 carne asada, 1 carnita and 1 al pastor. The fried corn tortillas were SO good that I can't even have Taco Bell and their Dorito crusted tortillas anymore. This place has spoiled it with their amazing, crunchy and tasty fried tortillas. The flour tortillas were pretty weak but the corn tortillas made up for it. I noticed the tacos weren't filled up like a few other places, but they did the job right anyways. There was never too much tortilla and too little toppings so that was a good thing. The Lengua tacos were to be expected; tender, juicy and delicious. The Al Pastor and Carnita were very good as well but the fish was a bit overcooked. My brother got the Horchata and it definitely was the weakest thing they had there. All you tasted was watered down milk with a strong flavor of cinnamon. Service: 5. Food: 4. The guy in the blue shirt was indeed the owner and his name is Romel. I saw that he was cracking jokes with the other 2 families that were there. It really seemed like they were having a great time. When I see service like this, it gives me hope. There have been too many experiences where the service was nothing but Professional and I'm not saying that that's a bad thing, I'm just making a point that sometimes, people just need to relax and be themselves especially in a restaurant setting like this one. No need to be 100% professional consistently throughout the day. I don't know, maybe I just had a really bad time at R&R Tacqueria and this place really surprised me and my low expectations. Or maybe it was their awesome empanadas and fried tortillas that made themselves different from the other Mexican joints? Either way, my experience there was awesome and I'll be glad to show Romel and his team support. Awesome place. read more

Los Compadres is still my favorite restaurant in the Baltimore area. I try to come at least once a month and would visit more if it were closer to my home. The food is always consistently good. I haven't had anything here that I haven't liked. The salsa is spicy and flavorful. The only issue I've ever had here is when we come on a Friday or Saturday night and they never seem to have enough waitstaff. The ladies who are here always do a great job even though they're running around trying to take care of everything. No stars taken off for that though since they're doing their best and we still get great service and amazing food. read more

The food here is really good. My favorite is the chicken quesadilla although there are many other items you can choose from. The employees are something special and make you feel at home. It says that they're open until 9:00 pm but while I was waiting on my food they turned away customers around 7:15 pm. So, I arrived here a little before 7:00 pm and ordered the 4 street tacos dinner to go. As of 7:35 I still hadn't gotten my food. Why does it take that long to prepare 4 tacos???? I love this place! My wife is from Cali and being here on the East Coast, it's a little hard to find some really good authentic Mexican food. We've been here about 5 times and all of our experiences here have been great. We had Keisha and Rihanna as our servers and they're both great. All the times I've been here, I would just stick to the taco boxes. It's a bit cheaper on Tuesdays but I usually get the Al Pastor, Carnitas, Chicken and Steak traditional with the corn tortillas. I get my fill from the 5 tacos and they are delicious! With all the other great reviews of this place, I can't imagine why it's never really busy. The décor is nice and the seating is plenty (probably about 40-50). I can't wait to come back to this place. I don't know if I'd try the other food dishes on the menu but I love the 5 tacos with the different salsas they have (green & red). I recommended this place to some of my co-workers and they love the food too. I would be coming back on a regular. read more

My friend had been raving about this place for months and I finally got a chance to check it out tonight (on a Wednesday for all day happy hour). I started with the freshly made margarita which was divine (and next time I will be sure to try the mango margarita, which came highly recommended). The queso was to die for and the chips were the perfect warm and crispy cantina style. I chose the al pastor and carne asada tacos on the corn tortillas and couldn't have been happier with my decision. The staff behind the bar were lovely and accommodating even asking if we wanted to change the music. Live music tonight was way too loud. We couldn't talk over it. Little kids "dancing" with castanets was way over the top. The food came fast, but I couldn't eat it fast enough and just wanted to get out. Don't come on live music night and expect to hear the person next to you. The venue is way too small for live music, unless it's just a single guitarist. The food: Great Chile verde with awesome flavor! The carnitas were pretty dry and over cooked. Mole sauce was awesome!
