This place was a fantastic surprise. I don't come to this part of JC often but we came for brunch one day and everything was great. We got the queso fundido to share, Mexican French toast, and chilaquiles. My favorite was the Mexican French toast. I'm not a huge French toast fan (sometimes too eggy) but I had a random craving. I've eaten at Los Cuernos before, and I know the food is great, but after today's experience, I'm not sure I'll be coming back. I went in for lunch and was seated at a high-top table in the bar area, only to be completely ignored for 10 minutes. No drinks, no menu, not even a glance from the staff. The hostess acted like they couldn't care less about whether I was served or not. What made it worse is that the place seems to have all new staff--none of the familiar faces I used to know. The service was noticeably worse than my past visits. It's a shame because the food has always been solid, but it doesn't matter how good it is if the staff can't be bothered to even take your order. I called in for a reservation for a Friday night. It is located on a main avenue and there is a parking garage next to the building. They do not validate parking. Once we were seated we were notified that the reservation for the table is for 2 hours. We enjoyed some happy hour margaritas , we ordered small plates. Queso with chorizo, chicken flautas, tacos of carnitas and fish and steak quesadillas. Everything was tasteful. We asked for another round but our server said our time limit was up and we can move to a bar. They have a sitting area that offers bar service so we sat there instead. This is taqueria 2.0 with a better ambiance. If you've been to taqueria in JC, you already know the tacos and tostadas are one of the best in the area. My go-to is the steak tacos, it's a little bit spicy, but that's what makes them perfect. The pork and ceviche tostadas are the best I've had. You can't forget the complimentary salsa that always makes you second guess if you want more. Of course, you do. The drinks and service here are also good. I am shocked this place does not have a 5.0 rating. I absolutely love every meal here! Our little family comes at least once a week, and the whole team is so sweet and accommodating. They have tons of indoor and outdoor seating, and can provide high chairs and ample space for your stroller. My one year old adores the rice and beans (as do we all!), super authentic and you get a giant side order for $4. The street tacos (3 for only $12!!) are a STEAL. You can choose from a bunch of different meats / veggies, but the steak is exceptional - super juicy and buttery. They do authentic Mexican tacos topped with cilantro and onions, and on the side - salsa (warning super spicy), radish, and grilled onion bulb. The place has a cool, modern "dia de los muertos" type feel. The staff was very attentive and friendly. We had the pineapple margarita (it was ok) and the house margarita (it was very very citrus-y. Almost like a whole lemon squeezed in there. So sour and bitter. I can't say that I loved it). We also had a "flower" drink and it tasted like cranberry juice with no liquor. Very cute restaurant by Newport mall. The outside area has adorable lights and we've passed this place many times not really know what it was. I think usually we avoid places with less than four star reviews because there are so many places with four plus stars. But fortunately last night we wanted a place to get a late dinner and drinks within walking distance and Los Cuernos met all those requirements. We sat inside because it was a little humid outside but the outside is spacious and really cute. The inside was also nice. It has high ceilings and is decorated well. We all liked the vibe. There were four of us and three got margaritas (hibiscus, watermelon, and pineapple). Hibiscus was good, watermelon was okay. My fiancé got the tequila that the waitress recommendeded with the pineapple. Silver something I think and it really did make a difference. Delicious! My other friend got a tanqueray and soda and it was smooth and strong :) The food was surprisingly good. We started with the gauc we enjoyed it and the chips feel nice and fresh. Two people got enchiladas that we all tried they were okay. Do order a side of their hot sauce it made everything better (if you like spicy food). My other friend got the chiqurela (???) or something - this dish with the tortilla strips with stuff on top. It was really good! I got the stuffed peppers even though they were vegetarian and I reallly liked it. Overall great vibe, good food, decent service, great drinks, kitchen open until 11 on weeknights. My go to Mexican restaurant in Jersey City. Skip the line at Taqueria downtown and go to Los Cuernos. Same owners and same incredible tacos. All of the dishes are extremely fresh and affordable. They also have great late night drink deals. The service can be slow at times but it's worth it to wait for those tacos. Just have another marg while you're eating. I also held a large party there on the second floor and the catering prices were fair and working with them to coordinate was a pleasure. read more

She basically said I don't care. We only have certain areas that the dogs allow the sit. I served this country for 33 years. When I turned around and standed up against her. She got upset and felt. Let me preface that the food, wait staff, and prices are great. But the manager(?)'s bad attitude can really ruin your night - and I've heard this from multiple friends. One day I decided to call ahead to see if they would allow dogs at their restaurant. They said that dogs were welcome outside, so I decided to schedule a dinner date with my friend. The weather report showed clear skies with 0% chance of rain so I felt safe about my decision. Unfortunately, a tropical rainstorm rushed down out of nowhere - surprising everyone. The manager(?) told me we were not able to be serviced anymore - which I totally understood. I picked up my dog and ordered an Uber. While waiting for the Uber, I was standing under an awning of the restaurant to avoid being drenched. A couple at a table close to us were warmly joking around with us about the whole situation. The manager(?) interrupted the conversation, looked at us like we were the scum of the earth, and asked the couple: "Are these girls bothering you? A decent spot with reasonable price point for a sit-down Mexican cuisine. I came here twice and tried their skirt steak and pork shoulder tacos ($4 each) as well as tortas sandwich ($10). The tacos were delicious and the corn tortillas were soft and yummy. The skirt steak was especially flavorful and juicy even though the spork shoulder taco was delicious as well. I recommend getting the skirt steak tacos if you're debating which one to get from their wide selection of tacos on the menu. Tortas with steak was also very yummy. The steak was soft, seasoned perfectly, and it blended very well with the veggies and avocados. The buns were slightly grilled with butter which made the sandwich more flavorful. The only downside is that I thought their chips were just alright. They were thick and hard rather than crispy, so it was kind of difficult to eat them easily on the side. Their guac and sala were great though. This place is very spacious and the ambiance is great for any occasions, from casual dining to work lunch/dinner. Respect is a crucial component for the Hospitality Industry! I made a booking for a table of two at 4pm on Friday June 25th. I arrived first and my colleague ws getting late. We love this place. Discovered it walking by a few times and were meaning to check it out. Finally did after realizing it's owned by the same people as Taqueria Downtown which we love, so we knew this had to be good. We weren't disappointed! This is an awesome elevated version of Taqueria Downtown including your favorite street tacos as appetizers etc. but with even more selection and delicious apps, entrees, cocktails and desserts, we left very happy! We tried the Nachos appetizer, Bisteca Tampiqueno and the Chile Rellenos, & Flan for dessert. The appetizer nacho was absolutely delicious and perfect size to share. We have been back again just for that! The Chile Rellenos came two to the order with rice, decried beans, lettuce and 3 corn tortillas. The corn tortillas were a nice touch to make little tacos if you wanted. The Rellenos were quite tasty stuffed and fried poblanos with meaty cheeses and satisfied the craving. The Bistec Tampiqueno........ Holy WOW. We've been back twice for this and we argue who gets to order it and who has to try something new.... So now we just both order it! The steak was delicious and not over cooked. It was on top of a cheese enchilada verde with rice, pinto beans, guacamole, pico, grilled green onion and poblanos rajas with corn tortilla. That was not only delicious but the best value in the city! Please don't change... we love this dish! It's so perfect! Flan for dessert was good here as well. They also had a tres leches which appeared good that we saw going to another table. The service was very nice, we arrived on a Monday and Thursday and both days got a wonderful female server who we liked a lot. The menu features several seafood options as well that look quite tasty. If we can ever stop fighting over who gets the Bistec Tampiqueno, we intend on trying the snapper and the shrimp next! Do note: this is not a dog-friendly restaurant for the patio, with additional restrictions even for a real ADA service dog which I have. Although I don't agree on additional restrictions from management because that's not actually following the Americans with Disabilities Act, I eventually got over it. So, all in all, leave your doggies at home as enjoy their food, or, bring your ADA service animal but with additional restrictions the management seemed tough on, regardless of the law. We stayed near by at the Marriott hotel and happened to walk by this restaurant. We decided to eat here for brunch. I've seen a lot of the negative reviews, and I'm not sure why they exist. If you like authentic Mexican food, eat here!! The food was excellent. I ordered the chilaquiles, which were crispy and made in a green salsa. It came with beans, rice and a fried egg. Also, all the brunch items came with your choice of mimosa or Bloody Mary! At first I was hesitant, as I figured the mimosa would be mostly oj but I was wrong. It was mostly champagne with a splash of oj, just how I like my mimosas!! Our friend ordered the equivalent version of French toast (forgot what they were called), and he loved it. Service was good. Definitely understand inflation as that's what's happening in the world right now but their soup went from $6.50 to $10, the Queso was $8.95 and is now $10 and the enchiladas were $11.95 and are now $15. I get increasing costs but this is a bit much. I won't be back again and the service isn't what it used to be either. This used to be a great spot to quickly stop in for a good margarita and good food but now there are so many other places that this place isn't worth going to.
