Unfortunately after my encounter with the manager at this bar / restaurant, I did not receive an email or message regarding the bias approach & targeted discrimination against me at this establishment. I have been a resident of Jersey City for 7 years now, and bring nothing but love & warmth to everywhere I go. It was completely disgusting on how I have been treated here. Very disrespectful, unprofessional, & unnecessary. I can't believe I was threatened with " I'll call the cops if you don't leave" I believe that change will be made in due time, being that I'm not the only customer/resident that has experienced this type of treatment. I hope the owner & manager at this establishment is reprimanded for their behavior. An establishment like this should not exist in any community. Unfortunately it's always busy because it's right near the path station where commuters & travelers stop for food or drinks, so that's where they get most of their business, but some of the residents and regulars that have been supporting that place before Grove Station, have been treated unfairly and personally targeted. Came here to quickly watch some March Madness on a whim as I realized I couldn't watch it via my TV at home. That was a bit inconvenient. Anyhow, I always walk past here and thought this place is much larger, but in reality it's smaller and cozy. Kinda reminds me of a European bar of sorts especially with the outdoor patio. Drink options are standard. I smelled the flatbread pizzas from the people sitting next to me and it smelt very tempting. Came here on Thursday after completing some business nearby for happy hour. The place is quaint with a full bar and kareoke everyday! As well as happy hour. It was Country Western Thursday so I bought a hat to enjoy the deals on the drinks and shots, plus I thought it would be cute to wear a hat. Happy hour is great and so was the service. I had the Jalepeno margarita and I liked it. I also ordered the truffel fries, there were very good. And shrimp tacos were also good and flavourful. Shots of casimogos felt watered down. Popped in for lunch the other day. Great location. Nice place with seating out front and inside. I got a grilled chicken sandwich which came with chips. The chips were stale and some of them were also soggy from the pico that they put on top of them. The guac looked like something squeezed out of a packet. The sandwich was good. I'm a long time patron and I've always loved the owner and the staff however...I was dancing to the music and apparently a call was made from the owner advising the staff to tell me to stop dancing. Yes. Refrain from DANCING!!! Like WTF!!! The staff is AMAZING and I feel for them. To ask a loyal patron to stop dancing is a problem. I came here because they said they had an espresso martini and I am on the lookout for some of the best ones. When I walked in it was fairly empty as it was around 1:45 on a Thursday. The bartender was very nice and spoke wheni walked in and asked me what I wanted and I told him and then he asked me if I wanted to open tab which I said no because I thought I would just have one and leave. Come to find out the espresso martini was so good that I ended up having 4. The bartender makes a special espresso for the martinis with the hint of vanilla that is to die for. It taste like espresso with a hint of vodka, but oh my is it strong and amazing. You would think because it's so light it wouldn't have the strong espresso taste but the look is deceiving. The best part was that the martinis no matter what time of day are only $8. After my second espresso, I decided I needed something to eat, and the veggie flatbread was good. Nothing to roast scream about but good I did forget to say no olives because I don't like olives. I told my brother about it and yes, we will be back. read more

Yet another poor experience here and I came back just to see if they would acknowledge the review and write the wrong that happened the first time. instead, I was met with the defensive manager, approaching me while I was on my own personal call, attempting to bully me and forced me to leave the establishment mind you I'm only being asked to leave because they got a bad review lol instead of trying to fix it and ask what happened or say maybe there was a miscommunication he intern forcibly and loudly. A hidden gem in the heart of downtown JC. Right outside of the Grove St PATH Station, you'll find a great happy hour that starts at 10am and brunch that starts DAILY at 11am. Plus they have daily food specials including tacos for $2.25. I've been here a couple of times and I was very pleased at the pricing. Plus nothing is fried here. Chicken wings are oven roasted. Me and my gfriend were there on Friday night for drinks. We really had a very bad experience because of your manager Louis. He was very unprofessional and a racist. I was wearing a cap . So Louis came to me and said it's our policy u can't wear caps inside. Fair enough I took it off n put on table. But just close like 2 tables away was a white guy wearing cap. lf I could give no stars, I would. I was harassed another patron while I was waiting on my orders and I simply suggested that the bar no longer tend to the patron. I was approached with hostility after asking what the name of the "manager" was due to the fact that I had already reached out to the manager on duty about this and the bartender with freckles refused to provide her own name, and rushed to alert the other bartender not to disclose the manager on duty's name. This is highly suspicious and I had no choice but to report the venue to the BBC due to its shady practices. They risked my safety along with the safety of my partner at the time of our venture to the Grove Station bar and we were literally blamed for the way we were treated. I have reported this management team and they dismissed my claims. It is absolutely unacceptable behavior and the people I reported to simply don't care. read more
