Carne asada platter.

Perfect place to have a late lunch. Authentic Mexican food at a honest price. One of many great restaurants on Monroe st.

Interesting take on Chips & Salsa...

The Mothership for the Gerardo name in our metro. We love ours in Cheney, but we were camping nearby, so... Flavors are very consistent, between the three restos, so expect the expected. I greatly enjoy the way they spice every single dish the make. Wifey lives by the Fajita Mix, and I cross my fingers for being able to finish off what she doesn't manage. I'm an Adovada Quesadilla guy, and every order I get from these locations always gives me two good meals. Such a nice family, too...

Chips and salsa bar

This is close to home and a place that I really enjoy. It's not for everyone to be sure, but it makes me happy to dive in to a burrito or in this case, a chimichanga, every now and again. The place has always been clean and tidy when I've been in. Burritos are huge as is the chimi. In fact I weighed the #20 and it came in at just over 3lbs of food. More than I can handle. Is it outstanding food? No. Is it a great value for the price and taste decent at the same time? Yes. There are others like it locally, but these guys are just a step up in quality. Worth a try.

Adobada chimichanga

One of the tastiest salsa bars in the area with unlimited chips if you order a burrito. Get the adobada chimichanga. Squeeze two limes into some hot sauce. Use them on the burrito. The salsa bar is to die for...especially the orange sauce. The pico is amazing! And they do NOT skimp on lines! You will not regret this decision.

Shredded Beef Taco w/"guacamole".

After reading so many great reviews of this place, we stopped for a late lunch. It's quite dark when you go in and the only menu is on the top of a wall. With it being so dark, I couldn't even see what they had. The person at the counter wasn't any help. We finally managed to order the carnitas plate and a taco. There was a charge of 99 cents for "guacamole". The beans were pretty bland but tasted house made and the rice was pretty standard. The carnitas were wonderful - crispy as requested. The taco was pretty greasy even though the meat was shredded beef. Actually the shell was so hard that when I took a bite the whole shell fell apart. My very biggest disappointment was what they call "guacamole". It was a very thin creamy green sauce with no flavor. And to charge for it is ridiculous. There are so many good Mexican restaurants in Spokane I doubt we'll ever go back.

Hashbrown Burrito

Came for the hashbrown breakfast burrito at 10am on a saturday, no line! It was packed with meat, under $10 and i could tell it was made fresh. Great customer service, i will definitely be driving through again soon. Show this place some love!

What you see is a chunk of partially chewed California burrito i ordered late at night.

Drunk lady tried converting my grandkids to Christianity. Food was disgusting. Cold chips. Flavorless food. Tried it twice. No more.

Ask the Community - Gerardo's Authentic Mexican Food

Is this the same ownership of the Gerardo's that was by Sprague and Bowdish years ago?

Yes! I used to go to Abelardo's a lot. Was sad when they closed that location.

However, Luna does offer a lot of things for this price. You have a pleasant neighborhood restaurant vibe, with friendly attentive service and excellent, healthy food sourced from good places. As with anything in Spokane, you will see folks in very casual attire, but this is also a place where you can dress up. When we went, there were several tables of women friends (all ages), many family groups (without young kids or with well-behaved kids), and older couples. I was in the mood for salmon and they did a great version. It should be though for just under $50. It was served with black rice (good) and roasted carrots (good) and a carrot puree (really good but not enough on the plate). My dining companion got the scallops, and they were even more expensive than the salmon. $48 for TWO scallops. Ok, they are large, and well-cooked, and came with a lovely vegetable mix and couscous, but that's a lot of $ for Spokane. We are from CA and that's even a shocker for us. Dessert: they had recently added a banana pudding, which was good. It replaced a chocolate dessert--and that was a bad move because there is no intense chocolate on the menu. We also tried the coconut cake with lemon curd. There was not enough curd; it was barely a tang. The cake itself was a little dry. It is served with house-made ice cream, which balances the dryness but the cake should be good on its own. Apparently, this is their most popular dessert. I am a chocolate-first person. I like coconut. I like good vanilla. I really like lemon curd and a sweet-sour pairing. For me, this item felll short.

That's probably the highlight of the whole experience. I started with the Cheshire Cat mocktail, which was a bit oversweet for me. For main course, I had sea bass for $48 (pan-seared fish served with onion-potato gnocchi, charred asparagus, mushrooms, and asparagus coulis). It was decent, but the portion felt small for the price. Salmon rillette ended up being the best dish! It was rich, savoury, and delicious when paired with pickled onions (the bread was slightly burnt - I hated it). Ended the meal with a vanilla gelato dessert - just okay, not too wow. The restaurant was so packed and seemed understaffed, so service took forever. I left feeling a bit disappointed, especially after looking forward to it so much

There are also warm food options to order. The staff was friendly and upbeat and answered my questions about the baked goods and food. I selected the ginger crinkle and was not disappointed. It was so flavorful and rich with real ginger you could see. I came back the next day for another one. There is street parking but it can be limited when times are busy. There is space to sit and enjoy your food. And there are some neat shops to check out nearby. Highly recommend!

The quality of ingredients tasted really fresh and thoughtful, and they have a surprisingly wide variety of nutritious options. But the highlight was their baked goods, 100% gluten free at a very reasonable price for the portion and quality. This place is inside Saranac Commons, very pretty and is a good place to slow down for lunch or coffee. Staff were kind, attentive, and happy to answer questions about the menu. Definitely a place I'd come back to whenever I'm in Spokane.

I had the sampler which is right up my alley, getting to try a bite of everything. Enjoyed 4/5 of the flavors! Really cute interior, convenient location to downtown activity. Time from entering the restaurant to food on the table was an hour, seems a little crazy for a waffle + topping situation. I think I'd almost prefer this as order at the counter and stream line the service time given waffles are casual. Inside was really loud even though it wasn't packed. My latte listed on menu for $6 was $7.50 and mimosa listed at $11 was $14... not sure if we missed something there? Was hungry pretty soon after, sampler really isn't enough for a meal. Would I go again? Sure! Overall, a fun treat.
