What a gem of a spot. Heard about this place from a cheap eats page and it absolutely delivered. There isn't a menu here - you pick two sides and a main course and it's one flat (very affordable) price and you're getting a butt ton of food. I tried my Spanish but the employees responded back to me in English unfortunately - I guess I gotta work on my gringo accent. However, the awesome guy who sat at my table didn't know English so I got to practice my very mid Spanish with him as I proceeded to be a big back and destroy the entire plate.

Stop by if you're looking for a quick bite and yummy Dominican food. Restaurant is located on the same block as Target. You have to take a big step up to get inside the door. When you walk in you order from one side and go down the line picking what you'd like to get from the food selection. Some items that were available today included plantains, white rice, arroz morro, beef stew, pernil, veggies, mangu, beans and chicharron. There is no menu so it's hard to tell what else is available besides what is on display. They do have the morir soñando drink which is like a creamsicle drink. You can pick anywhere to sit. The place isn't super spacious but good for families. If you're looking for no frills spot check this spot out!

I was pleasantly surprised by this location. My friend had recommended this place and I was a little skeptical about going. However, customer service was amazing. Every staff member was friendly and attentive. The food was so good, I couldn't put my fork down! I highly recommend.

The chicken stew and cabbage side are soooo good, I could eat this everyday. Good portions for the price and the staff are really friendly. They are always playing good music too :)

Since I've moved to DC, I've been craving Dominican food! I'm coming from Boston and Dominican spots are very prevalent, so I ate Dominican food pretty regularly. I currently live in SE DC, so not very many Dominican spots near me. Most are across the city. I happened to be in the Columbia Heights neighborhood yesterday, and I remember a colleague telling me that would be a good neighborhood to check out Dominican food. She wasn't wrong. I pulled up google maps and noticed one within 5 minutes from me. I made my way over there! I will say there were a lot of food options when I arrived. This place is popular. In the half hour, I was there so many people came in and out. The line was moving kind of slow, though. There were only two women on the floor, but the food was worth the wait! I ordered arroz con gandules, pernil, platanos maduros, and a side of vegetables. They filled up my to go box, and the food was so good! The only point of criticism is that the food was a little too salty for me. I generally add salt to my food, but here they definitely season it a lot. If I lived closer to here, I'd def frequent this spot more, but at least, I know where to go whenever next I'm craving some Dominican food.

I tried their chicken empanadas which were great! Not too oily yet deliciously crunchy! The meat was also perfectly seasoned. I would definitely return to try some of their other options.

Really Dank Dominican food!! So delicious and flavorful. There's lots of options on the menu. I tried the pulled pork. I will definitely bring trying other menu items! Definitely give this place a try! You won't regret it.

I found this place by surprise since I had been up and finished my morning workout very early. it was one of the places that were open by 10am. I arrived and knew instantly this was going to be a hit. the kind greetings and suggestions were amazing from the staff. they gave great portions and I even had some for leftovers. you have to get the tamarind juice as well. absolutely amazing with your meal. I have gone back 3 times since and I will continue to go back!

The service & food here is always amazing but does anyone know if this restaurant is still open? I've tried calling for the last couple of days to put a catering order in and no one picked up the phone.…

Yes, they are open. They never answer the phone but they are open and they have another location called Mechos off of New York Ave.

Going to visit tonight. Where is the best place to park?

Right around the corner is a parking structure for Target. Best place to park and short walk to Los Hermanos.

I Was Craving Some Real, Home-Cooked Food Like Rice, Beans, Just Something Filling & Comforting…read more Luckily, I Found This Spot On Yelp... And Wow, This Place Is A True Hidden Gem . I Feel Blessed & Grateful That I Came Across It. This Is Authentic Dominican Food Made By True Dominicans, And You Can Taste The Love In Every Bite. It Really Brings A Piece Of The Island Right Here To Maryland Just Minutes From DC . Parking Is Limited, But There Are A Few Spaces Directly In Front Of The Restaurant. The Space Is Small & Intimate, But Very Welcoming. It's Only Been About A Year Since They Opened, But It Feels Like A Place That's Been Around Much Longer Because Of The Love And Energy Inside. The Customer Service Here Is Top Tier!! It's Owned By A Husband & Wife "The Medinas" They Are Truly Special. So Warm, So Kind, & So Genuine. They Make You Feel Like You're Being Welcomed Into Their Home For A Meal. The Service Is Full Of Love & Care, You Can Feel Their Passion In Everything They Do. That Alone Would Bring Me Back... And Then The Food Just Seals The Deal Even More. WHITE RICE , RED BEANS , AVOCADO & GRILLED SALMON {Build Your Own Meal} EVERYTHING About This Plate Was Perfect!!!!! The Rice Was Cooked Just Right With The Perfect Amount Of Salt. The Red Beans Were Rich, Flavorful, & Surprisingly Had No Meat, Which I Loved. *So Many Places Add Pork, But Here They Automatically Cater To Different Dietary Preferences Without Sacrificing Flavor.* The Grilled Salmon Was Cooked Exactly How I Requested, Honestly Even Better Than I Expected. The Attention To Detail Was Impressive. And Of Course, The Avocado Brought Everything Together For That Perfect Final Touch, I Left So Full & Satisfied. EXTRA SIDES: TOSTONES WITH GARLIC Double-Fried, Flattened Plantains Lightly Salted And Topped With Garlic Oil (I Requested This And They Delivered). So Good & Perfect With The Rice & Beans. FRIED PLANTAINS Made Exactly How I Like Them, Sweet, Perfectly Fried, & Not Overly Sweet. CHEESE EMPANADA OMG The Cheese Pull Was Insane. Crispy Outside, Loaded With Cheese Inside, They Did Not Skimp At All, So Delicious. MALTA I Had To Get A Malta, A Traditional Dominican Drink That Paired Perfectly With My Meal. Sweet, Rich, & So Satisfying. I Had To Try As Much I Could To See What I Would Like & Everything Was Amazing. I Was Overwhelmed Yet Beyond Satisfied. Literally Everything They Make Is Delicious. Super Reasonable Prices With Plenty Of Options. Some Food Is Ready Buffet-Style While Other Items Are Made To Order. You Can Dine In Or Take Out But I Highly Recommend Sitting Down & Enjoying The Full Experience If There's Available Seats. This Place Is Something Special. Authentic Dominican Flavors, Amazing Hospitality, & Food Made With Real Love. I'm Definitely Going To Be A Regular Here As Much As I Can. I Truly Hope They Get The Recognition They Deserve Because This Place Is Truly A GEM .

So my threshold for Caribbean food is pretty high, and you would think with the prices of things on their menu it would be a hit. It wasn't. To start, the ambiance was amazing! It was a beautiful space. Beautifully decorated. I loved the pops of emerald across the space. They didn't have a table for 4 available when we went. So we sat at the bar. The hostess did inform us at the time that they were short staffed so the wait time may be a little excessive. We understood and took the seats anyway. We had just missed happy hour, which was a bummer. But the people i was with wanted to order food. So i ordered my 1 and only drink. I tried some of the food that was ordered. I first tried the brisket... uhm... lol. Let's just say it tasted more like roast than brisket. It was very saucey, tender and fatty. But the flavor was missing something. It had a twinge of sweetness on the backhand. It wasn't bad. It just wasn't what i expected. The black rice was also just okay. I love me some Haitian food, but this wasn't that. lol. It was a bit spicy on the backend which i didn't hate. But that was probably my favorite bite of the night. The drinks were good. They were pretty standard to see my bill for my one drink come out to a whopping $30!! And i live in NYC and have NEVER paid that much for a drink... i was shocked and appalled lol. I didn't get anything extra added.. so the sidecar extra charge definitely threw me for a loop, and that's when i realized it was time to go. Would i recommend, uhm... maybe. It's definitely not a must like they claim on socials. It's okay food and drinks. But they can definitely improve. 3/5. See pics below
