What made the experience even more memorable, though, was the incredible hospitality from the owners and staff. The warmth and genuine friendliness made us feel as if we were dining in Mexico, with the same outstanding level of service and good ambience. Wow!! I just had lunch at Los Magueyes in Miami Lakes and I am blown away. This little hole in the wall spot is tucked away in a shopping plaza, but don't let that fool you. The food here is some of the most authentic Mexican cuisine I've had in a long time. I'm always on the hunt for places that truly capture the flavors of Mexico, and this place absolutely hits the spot. The first sign I knew I was in for something special was the horchata. It wasn't watered down like so many other places.. it was creamy, sweet, and perfectly balanced. Yum!!! From there, everything just got better. I tried the steak burrito, chicken flautas, steak quesadillas, tacos al pastor, and the guacamole with chicharrón, and every single bite was incredible. It's the kind of place you don't take left overs home! This little hidden gem in Miami Lakes has some of the most authentic mexican food you can find in the neighborhood. And some of the nicest people. This place has been in business for a very long time and the owner is always there working right along with his staff. He is so helpful and attentive. He's always passing by the tables making sure you have everything you need and truly makes you feel welcomed. The place itself has that old school Mexican feel. The restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated. You feel like you are gonna get one heck of a meal. When you sit at the table you're given chips with 2 different types of salsas. Came here since recently moving to Miramar area and was craving some authentic Mexican food. Upon arriving we were greeted by the owner opening the door for us and being so welcoming seating us immediately. The establishment isn't super big so the Resturant was full for a Tuesday night. We were then greeted immediately by our server, who I believe was the owners son, and got our drink and food order in. We ordered the Tacos de Lengua and Taquitos, both of which were delicious. The steak tacos were ok, edible but not necessarily enjoyable... the chicken nachos... I love coming to this spot usually my go to Friday spot. I recently tried their tortilla soup which was Devine. The only little thing that bothers me is the complimentary chips and salsa they give the sauce bowl is very small and I have to ask for seconds and they seem so busy sometimes. I'll also recommend for them to provide small plates for the chips and salsa that are complimentary as they seem to get bothered when I ask for plates. Overall sweet staff, great tacos al pastor, burritos decent portion, mole chicken great, honestly they state it's spicy but not even their spiciest sauce is spicy. Very good portion of you order the mixed fajitas. They should have a option though if you don't want the rice and beans and just want the 3 tacos. This restaurant is included in our Tacolandia Taco Stop card, so we went by for Taco Tuesday! It is located in one of the most interesting strip malls in Miami Lakes/Hialeah. There were at least 2 illuminated bar restaurants that we would have wanted to check out if it were not a Tuesday night. We slid in at 9:20pm when they were closing at 10 pm, and we were still done and out by 10:10pm lol. We were able to get a free taco with our Taco Stop cards, so I went with a lengua taco, he went with a carne asada taco. Keep in mind that taco orders come in 3 if you're ordering normally. The lengua was tender with just the right amount of seasoning, the carne asada was also juicy and tasty with plenty of fresh cilantro and chopped veggies. Both didn't have cheese and didn't need it at all. For main dishes, we ordered both versions of chicken mole; he got the original mole, I had the verde mole. The original mole was rich with the chocolate background and tasted very well combined and simmered. But I did like the verde mole a little better with its fresh green tastes lending lighter flavor to the shredded chicken. Both dishes came with tortillas (corn), fragrant and savory yellow rice and well blended refried beans. They all came together for a fun small burrito collaboration. The dishes came out fast after we ordered and were hefty enough to be leftover and placed into takeout boxes to enjoy the next day! Speaking of fast, the food came out fresh but fast, within what seemed like 10 minutes of us ordering. I told him it was like really good fast food only because of the timing. Our meal probably went by fast since we stuffed chips and fresh, delicious homemade salsa in our mouths while not drinking any alcohol (although they have a fair beer and wine list). I can tell a lot about a Mexican restaurant based on their tortilla chips and salsa. The tortilla chips were crunchy and the salsa had a rich flavor. Then I ordered the tortilla soup which was quite flavorful and filling. I also ordered a shrimp ceviche for protein. It was quite tangy. Quality shrimp. I was craving tacos and wanted to try out a new Mexican spot. This small inconspicuous joint is located in a small shopping center and on the edge of Miami lakes, so nice and close to me. I sat outside - because of covid, there were a few tables dotted there and other patrons seated, which is always a good sign to me. Service was friendly, quick and on point. I ordered one of the trio of tacos called Al pastor - which is pork. Within two minutes of placing my order fresh tortilla chips came out with two dipping sides, one a watery, runny salsa (I always prefer when it is NOT so, ie with chunkier bits in it rather than being blitzed) the flavour was there, but I have had better. The other was a green spicier sauce, which for Mexican standards was fairly light weight (my preference!) The tortilla chips - were super fresh and super crunchie - the best imo of my meal! After approx 5 minutes - I could not believe how quick my tacos arrived. These three tacos are definitely filled with plenty of meat. I also loved the fact that they had plenty of cilantro on the top. There were three lime slices, one for each taco - which was nice. The refried beans were a little bland, and also the rice too. I really wanted some sour cream, guacamole and a chunky salsa to put on the top, so for me I was disappointed. I also thought there would be a bit of greenery ie salad? (It did say comes with refried beans and rice, so???) If I came again I would ask, if I could add salad, sour cream etc to this or substitute. All in all I enjoyed my meal, I was not blown away, but I would come again, and try other choices. read more
