THE SERVICE WAD SO BAD WE ALMOST LEFT TWICE!! I have never given a bad review but I have never had such a bad experience! It took 20 minutes to get our drinks after asking twice. Came to our table after another 20 minutes to take our order but walked away without taking it...then after waiting at least another 20 minutes they forgot to serve our order. You know what is awesome about this place? Not getting any service. I mean really, waiting 20 minutes for a table was awesome. You know what made it even better? When we sat down at a table with a party of five at the small square table for four and they so kindly offered to pull of a chair to put at the corner. So generous! Oh and did I mention that there were two service dogs with us? So let's picture five people at a four person table with two service dogs. Oh and to make it an even more amazing experience, how about sitting at the table for 15 minutes without ANYONE coming to our table. Despite the waiter walking by our table six times and the hostess three times, literally no one said anything to us...they even awkwardly avoided eye contact...it was a little painful. A little courteous, "Your waiter will be with you soon" or perhaps a, "Sorry for the wait" comment would have been nice. So if you're really into being ignored, you're going to LOVE this place! P.S. My family and I had driven by this establishment numerous times over the past few years and decided to try it the other night instead of our normal taqueria spot. After waiting 15 minutes to be seated we order our food. First off let me say the service was phenomenal! Although busy, our drinks were never below 1/4 full and our waitress checked on us many times throughout the night. Now to our food. My wife ordered the chicken burrito ranchero style, my daughters ordered the bean burrito and the beef enchilada. I myself ordered the chicken chimichanga. Although the food looked great upon receiving it the taste was horrible. My daughters enchilada was watery as was my daughters bean burrito. My wife stated her ranchero burrito was disgusting and stopped eating it right away. The chicken chimichanga I had ordered had absolutely no taste even when I smothered it in guacamole and sour cream. If I had to guess I would say it was chicken that had been boiled in water with no marinade, cut up into large chunks and then thrown into a tortilla with cheese, deep-fried and served. The side of refried beans were watery and the spanish rice was hard and over cooked. Although we were hoping to like this place since it is close to home, I do not see us returning. read more

Arrived just after 5:00 and were the only customers in the restaurant. Happy hour was on and the bar full. Took us awhile to figure out what we wanted but the waitress was very good with giving us chips, salsa and bean dip right away. Once we ordered it took almost 35 minutes to receive our food. No one came to explain the delay. By that time there were four others in the restaurant. Besides the slowness, the rice on the combination plate wasn't completely cooked and had absolutely no favor. The Taco Salad was mainly meat that was so salty, it was difficult to eat. The waitress did ask if there was anything she could do and said she would report it to the cook. read more

This place is pretty much the same as Cascada in Placerville. Their food is good and they have quick service. They are a Mexican food restaurant but they aren't very authentic. It's still good food though. The drink menu here is different than Cascada and I prefer Cascada's drinks to the ones here. read more

We've been here numerous times and always have a great time. I love their tortilla chips & the assortment of salsas/dips you get. Although the bean dip can sometimes taste like it has lard in it. That would be my only complaint, and it could have just been that batch of dip on that day. I usually always get a salad here, any one of them are fresh & delicious. read more

Busy night - we were seated after a short wait. (they were clearly not prepared for the crowd - a fundraiser for local non-profit). Offered only table outside, in sun. Umbrella isn't adjustable. Waited more than 15 minutes for just water. Ordered drinks (water and margarita) and meal at same time, waiter friendly. Another 15-20 minutes, no chips, finally drinks. Margarita was yummy. Dinner came, no chips. Brought stale chips after dinners came, with apologies 'not enough bowls for salsa'??!! Ordered guacamole. AFTER meals complete, asked again for salsa. Brought it. Blah. Right out of a jar. Entree's were good, not great. Lots of apologies from waiter, but charged us for guacamole, (which considering no salsa thought was cheesy). 2 stars because of good margarita. We've eaten here twice now since we moved to Cameron Park. The food is pretty good. Very fresh but very Americanized and not a whole lot of flavor. The reason I only give it three stars is although the staff is decently friendly, both times the waitresses did not know their menu. Been here before with good food and service, but stay away on a holiday. Valentine's Day resulted in 60 minutes plus for appetizer and 2 hour for main course. A restaurant should have adequate staff for the number of tables on a holiday. You have complete control over how busy you are with limited seating, no reason for these long waits read more

This was our third visit to Los Pinos and every time we have been more than pleased with the quality of the food, drink and service. My husband loves the chili verde burrito which they fill only with pork leaving out other fillers like rice or beans. It's perfect! I have been coming here for awhile. The food is constantly good. Staff is helpful and nice. Chile verde is great and I really like the carnitas burrito. I also get the salads which taste yum! What I really like about it also is that there are not that many nice, clean, quality dining options in Cameron Park and this is a great clean place in our community. I have done a couple parties upstairs and they rented the entire upstairs for me and didn't charge me for the space. I will keep coming back!! read more

Our server was very nice and enthusiastic which is why I gave this place one star (can't remember his name but he was a very nice guy). The taste of the food was bland and nothing tasted authentic. There were three different salsas (one bean salsa and the other two tomato) all of which tasted like they were straight out of a can. I had a chicken taco and chicken enchilada neither of which tasted good. Nothing about the food at this restaurant was impressive and I will not be going back. I was there on Friday 9/26 with my daughters and friend for dinner at 7pm. It was odd right when i first walked in. Something didn't feel right. We waited and waited. Finally a young man hesitantly seated us. And again, we waited and waited in our booth. A very eager young lady, I'm assuming she was new because she was the only friendly lady to approach our table and the only reason why we were served, as the server who was serving our table ignored us. The server came to our table and abruptly took our order, however she could not contain her eyeball movements. I asked her for a drink, and she rolled her eyes, after she took our order she rolled her eyes, when we asked if we can order appetizers, she rolled her eyes. There is a pattern here: I HAD to ASK for water, I HAD to ASK for drink, I HAD to ASK for her to take our order AND she rolled her eyes every time as if I was bothering her!! Again this was 7pm and it was not busy.All 4 of us ladies who were looking forward to a girls night out, were shocked and it really put a damper on our evening. WE picked this restaurant because we wanted to go have fun, laugh, chat, catch up. But the attitude of many of the workers, (besides the eager new girl) was so negative it really ruined the night. I felt as if I was putting the Server out. I have been a customer of Cascada in Placerville for years and have had so many amazing memories of celebrating birthdays, small business events, and just Friday night cocktails, I was super excited to find out about Los Pinos. And for the most part have had satisfactory experiences. However, the way we were treated on Friday 9/26, was enough to make me never want to go back. Overall the food was OK, but I was so irritated by this ladies behavior i was not feeling it once the food came out. I really struggled over leaving this review, but this restaurant has so much potential and I would hate to see this place close down as so many restaurants in Cameron Park do. Soooo....I want to give this restaraunt a 5 star because of the food and the staff but I have to knock a star off because of our wait for food. Our server, Rebecca was beyond amazing... Very attentive, our drinks came very quickly (the smokey margarita was out-of-this-world), our chips and trio of salsas never ran dried and she communicated the apparent "wait" for the food. Apparently, the kitchen was backed up due to a large party, HOWEVER...it didn't feel long, at all, due to the attentiveness of our server. I understand things happen in restaraunts and I really appreciate the communication the servers feel they can relay when it comes to delays. read more

I wouldnt have written a review on that alone, but when we checked our credit card statement later we noticed that the total was quite a bit more than we had written down. First time here, headed to another restaurant but it was closed. Very serendipitous. Food here was great! Pork tamales were awesome. Husband had cheese enchiladas. Liked the decor, classier than typical Mexican restaurant. Friendly service from all staff. We were a little hesitant to go here after seeing some of the bad reviews, but I'm so glad we went with the positive ones and decided to go for dinner. We just moved to the area and Los Pinos is right down the street. We'll probably be regulars, as long as the food stays as delicious as it was last night! I ordered a carne asada burrito and my husband got the chicken fajitas. He and I both hate beans, so hearing that they don't put beans inside their burritos was wonderful. I always feel kind of bad asking for them to be specifically left out because I hate having to do a *special* order when I don't like something that is such a prominent ingredient in most Mexican dishes. My burrito was absolutely delicious. The steak was cooked perfectly. It was very easy to chew, with no fat at all. My husband's chicken was the same way and was wonderfully seasoned. We tried both the Mexican and cilantro rice and both were great. I think I prefer the cilantro over the Mexican just a little bit. Even though we had almost no room left in our stomachs, we decided to try the churros and ice cream. So glad we did that, even if our waistlines are not. The staff was very friendly and attentive. The decor was nice. For a hot day, the temperature was perfect. We will absolutely be back!! read more
