a hot dog and a soda

Food has a lot of flavor, my friend and I Really enjoyed. They have coolers with canned and Mexican glass sodas and another cooler has extras like salsas. Tables and chairs if you want to eat there. We ordered one hot dog each and a "quesadogo" to share. It was very filling, we finished our hotdogs, but couldn't finish the "quesadogo".

There's nothing more Tucsonan than Sonoran hotdogs from the side of the street. Although there's a ton of these carts in town, Los Ponchos was really yummy and loaded. If you're near Ft. Lowell and Campbell stop by for a quick bite and you won't regret it! Also, I didn't get to try it but I was intrigued by the "quesadogo" til next time I guess

Just tried this place as we needed something quick and we saw this stand and thought, mmm Sonoran dogs! A second later were inside the tent, only 3$ a dog! I got two and some chips and a soda for a total of 8$-such a steal! The bun was toasted perfectly and so generously filled with toppings (weenie wrapped in bacon, beans, tomatoes, grilled and fresh diced onions, mayo, mustard, and a pepper.) the guy running the cart was super friendly and helpful even though I don't speak spanish, I got my message across with ease. He whipped up four dogs in about 3 minutes. And there was also a little topping bar with cheese, salsas, jalapeños and other condiments. So glad we stopped here and I can't wait to go back next time I'm in need of a quick bite!

This is a simple but delicious food truck/cart. I get the Sonoran hot dog and an apple soda. It's nothing fancy, but it sure is good!

But during this recent visit, I decided to change things up. Let me tell you, the food scene in this city is incredible. I'll probably post several reviews in the coming days, but this one had to be first. Sonoran hot dogs are legendary, and everyone told me they were a must-try while in the area. Several places were recommended, but this establishment was only 10 minutes away from my location -- and yes, it was the #1 recommendation. So luck was definitely on my side. This is a family business that has been featured in dozens of YouTube videos (and probably TV shows as well). I was greeted by a very sweet and polite young lady and ordered a traditional Sonoran Dog, a carne asada taco, and an adobada taco. All I have to say is WOW. The combination of toppings on that dog was amazing. I had never tried anything like it before, and now I want more. That crispy bacon-wrapped hot dog with the beans, onions, crema... just incredible. The tacos were fantastic as well. I can't wait until I return to Tucson in two months. I'm definitely going back and will probably order three of those dogs next time. They also have plenty of seating, both outdoors and indoors, with nice cold A/C for those brutal Arizona summer days.

This place was my first bite into the iconic local Sonoran hot dog. I shouldn't have waited. I haven't eaten meat for decades but they have a veggie dog option and it's very good. This place is on my list of places to take out-of-town friends.

I ordered 3 dogs, no mayo. Honestly, could have probably ate 5 or 6. They are THAT GOOD! My intent was to eat all 3, but then my kids were like "Let me get a bite". Well, they ate a whole one between them, my son proclaiming it was "The best hot dog I've ever had in my life". You are correct, Son! These things just hit different! The griddled bun is perfection, the dog is plump and meaty and wrapped in bacon, the toppings are streamlined so it's not too messy. The dude making them is super friendly, chatting it up with every customer. Just amazing. Worth the 2.5 hour drive from Surprise just for these dogs...seriously! So good, I will crave them until I come back down to Tucson to get some more!

Today, I came to try the breakfast menu and was in love. Though I am not vegan, I wanted to try their vegan menu, as this is one of the few restaurants that puts dedication into vegan food, using real foods and not just meat substitutes. The dedication shines through into the taste, textures, and flavors of the food. I ordered the Tamal Plate and loved how the tamale came crispy. The restaurant was busy on this Sunday morning, making the service a little slow. However, every worker was very friendly and helpful despite the busy day. The inside is also decorated nicely, making you feel cozy. There is also some outside seating that I would have loved to have utilized if it wasn't full. I am excited to come back to try more of the menu! I highly recommend Del Cielo to both vegans and non-vegans!

I saw that they do an "all beef" dog called the Chucho dog. I knew I had to try it. I went with a Chucho Dog with no mayo. It was about $7.00 or so. The idea is good "A Costco All Beef Sonoran Dog" pretty much, but it fell a bit short. First of all, the dog was like lukewarm. It wasn't freshly griddled right then and there. Also, the toppings went spilling all over the place. The big dog just doesn't work. You need the smaller dogs so you can tuck them inside the bread completely. This was overhanging the bun. It was still decent, but I would much rather have a regular Sonoran Dog over the Chucho. Lady at the counter was friendly. Food was ready very fast.
