The Japanese pancakes were so fluffy and fun, called ahead just to make sure they could make them right after opening but couldn't get through. THEY CALLED ME BACK IMMEDIATELY!! I have never had a food place care enough to actually call back if they miss a call. I was so happy with the pancakes too, nicely made and yummy. Their tiny cakes are all perfect too, I'm in love with each one especially the PDX rose! So bright and flavorful, with a beautiful outside that matches its taste! Can't forget the Japanese Cream Cheese Bun, it's soooooo good and the price matches the taste (aka good price for a good dessert). Not too sweet but still delicious! Just gotta make sure you eat it fresh, forgot to eat my last one for an hour and it got dry but still had its yummy taste. I super recommend this place!!

When adding drinks to our order, the lone man working there asked me a few times whether I really was ordering coffee for a child (and yes, she settled on a mocha when it was determined he only knew how to sprinkle matcha powder on the pancakes, and hadn't a clue as to their application to drinks). My grandson ordered their 'special hot chocolate' which pretty much tasted like watered-down Ovaltine. We sat outside to eat and after a few bites and finding these were nothing like the fluffy Japanese pancakes they'd expected, we threw away $44 worth of what was supposed to be a pleasant breakfast experience. I guess this was a life lesson for the kids, that our expectations aren't always met. And I want to prevent any other adults from making the same mistake I did in taking my business there!

My favorites are: Kare pan: House made beef curry inside of a deep fried donut coated with panko. I don't understand how it's possible for this creation to remain crispy even though it's stored at room temperature instead of the more usual warming lamps. The curry is thick and has generous chunks of beef and vegetables. The bread isn't really "donut" per se since that brings to mind something sweet with a tender crumb. It's more of a fried bread dough that's deliciously chewy. Bacon and blue cheese mini epi: Épis de Blé is a bread that looks like a sheaf of wheat that is very similar to a baguette. Their take has a chewier crumb and crust instead of a shattering crispy outside as with a traditional bread of this type. The cheese and bacon make this such a luxurious bread. They don't use the shelf stable bacon; they use the good stuff so it adds a great texture to the bread. It's not heavy in blue cheese flavor, so even though I don't like blue cheese, I still adore this bread.

The pastries are mostly light and mildly sweet, which I personally enjoy because I'm not much of a heavy, sugar-bomb style baked goods. If you like delicate flavors, this place hits. The service is really good and the ambiance is cute. My favorite's are here: Macarons (Specifically the pistachio & rose), red bean bread, and all the pastries. I tried their coffee couple of times, and it was really good. Overall, a must try if you haven't. I don't know anyone so far who doesn't like Tous Les Jours :P

Since they do not do separate checks, each of us needed to know the price of our breakfast (plus 20% gratuity) so we could give the correct amount to our group leader to pay the bill after the meal was done. There was some unpleasant discussion with the host about the menus and pricing and why we could not order from the regular menu. The hostess told us the kitchen could not handle large groups so we had to have a reduced menu...surprising since this has never happened at any of the other La Providences we have eaten at as a group. My feeling as were some of the others is we are certainly not valued here, and the kitchen is more important that the customer. Not a good way to start off the morning. The wait staff (very pleasant) took our orders and then in a short period of time began delivering our orders...I do take exception to the waitstaff handing the person their plate rather than sitting it in front of the person. This is never more apparent as when they tried to hand a blind man his plate which of course he could not see. How embarrassing and rude! My food came and after just three small bites I could no longer stomach the dish (Tiramisu French Toast). I stopped eating and pushed the plate away. I will note that another one in our group had the same dish and ate the entire thing. When the waitstaff came to clear our dishes, she asked me if I wanted a box. My reply was "no, the dish did not taste good". At that point she said "you should have told me and I would have gotten you something else". I was a bit indignant that she thought I should run her down somewhere in the restaurant to tell her about the bad food...it is her job to make sure everything is OK. (she never came by after serving the food to ask if everything was OK). So, my reward for sitting through the hostess abuse when we came into the restaurant and then being served inferior food was to pay full price for my three bites of food that upset my stomach plus a 20% gratuity. At the very least this meal should have been comped! This is just bad management all the way around. My family has been in the restaurant business for 50 plus years, if we treated out guests like this, they would never come back. AND I never will come back to this restaurant who is so disrespectful to the customer! Shame on you!!

I loved the slight tartness to it. The only thing was that the jam was red and it was behind the bunny so it looked...yes...you can be creative there haha. 2. Salted egg yolk cookie. Love salted egg anything and was surprise to see this as a cookie! Love the Asian flavors! It was lovely. It also had a little bit of a leaf on it and it created a little curry flavor taste. I don't know what it is but combined with the salted egg, delicious. It was my first time trying a more savory cookie. Gifted: They also gave me a salted egg yolk cookie which was great, I got 2 haha. 1. Chocolate macaron. I don't really like macarons because they're usually too sweet. However! This was good. Not too sweet and the chocolate flavor was present. It was a good size and it was super cute 2. Matcha macadamia nut cookie. I've had this one before, still good! 3. Brownie chocolate cookie. I was on the look out for some delicious cake. Unique flavors and beautiful decorations just happened to be a perk. Minh, the owner, the matter how busy it gets, is always so personable and enthusiastic. She brought two visions for two of my daughters' birthday themes to life within a reasonable range. One was a Mermaid birthday and the other Avatar themed. Both times we picked a pandan cake layered with pandan buttercream. Wow the structure held up very well after thawing out for a few hours. Cake was incredibly soft and moist without being too sweet. The Asian flavors mixed with a conventional American twist made for the perfect marriage. I really hope this bakery does well. It is such a treat to order cakes here. Will definitely have to try the durian or lychee next time.

I was thinking of waiting for him, in the car, and just grab a chicken sandwich. But, after he left, I decided to go inside the bakery to browse. He was standing at the corner, reading the menu of the shop, when I called him to 'Come over here!' I didn't know what I just walked in. Ooddles & oodles of cookies, cakes, pastries, sandwiches, like a one-stop bakery, cafe to-go. I started to take a video, of the whole shop, but sadly, as I turned it off, I realized I was just turning it ON! Instead of buying one sandwich for each of us, we ended up buying 4 of our 'look scrumptious' pastries that could fill us up. (Photos are not good quality, because I thought I was video-taping it. That's the result!) We each shared everything! We both agreed, it was probably one of the best lunches we've eaten. The pastry were still warm, the cheese in our ham was melting in your mouth. The spinach was just out of the oven. Everything was just wonderful! We will surely stop by here again, and buy twice as much, should last us a week. Maybe freeze some, so when we are tempted for some pastry, we are ready!
