It is extremely fresh and not overpowered by acidity, fishy smells or rubbery shrimp. The ceviche here is legit. Great. AND ONLY $10 (for cameron). If you order anything here, get the ceviche first. I'm anxious to try their aguachile now. We also ordered the fajitas ("suprema" with chicken, steak and shrimp). Fajitas did not come out sizzling at all. I have never seen this before. Also, there were only two shrimp. The steak/carne was bland and dry. Not great. Wife ordered the Sopes (3) and mother ordered the Enchiladas Cameron. The sopes were okay, but a bit bland. Wife had to salt everything on the plate. The enchiladas had a sauce my mom said was too sweet. She wasn't a fan. For all three dishes to be a miss is completely strange considering the sheer number of 5-star reviews. I want to believe. We must have come on an off-day, but the place was busy. Quite a few larger parties were here, so this place is popular with the natives. We also grabbed a Model and a Corona. Only $5 for the beers! Total for everything came to $117.64 (with tip). We decided to try salsa from 6 different Mexican grocery stores in Vista and Oceanside all in 1 day. All were pretty good but there are two that stood out head and shoulders above the rest. In second place was Salsa Market on Santa Fe. Their green salsa was delicious. However, the best salsa in the area, hands-down is Tortilla Leon!! Their Salsa Botanera and Salsa Molcajete are the bomb. Clearly different and more flavorful than all the six we tried. Such a great store, tortilleria, Carniceria, and hot food kitchen. I was born in Tijuana and grew up eating street tacos down there. Having lived in San Diego for 25 years I can tell your there just isn't that many places up here that compare to the street tacos in TJ. Especially all the Albertos, Alertos, Robertos or any other "ertos" in SD county, those places are usually a nasty carbon copy of the last. There is a couple that use quality cuts of meat instead of that dry dog food they pass off as carne asada. Let the Mid Westerners get excited about those places. Then there is Los Tacos in Oceanside. One word for you, flavor. Nowhere in town will you find the spices used in their Al Pastor meat. It's a perfect blend of spice and sweetness, and yes, the little bit-o-pineapple they throw in the taco is a sweet surprise. Their carne asada is juicy and very tasty as well, here is their secret: They grill a bunch of it at a time but when they grill it, they under cook it, where it's still pink in the middle. Then, when customers come in and order some, they throw the amount needed on the hot grill and finish it off before dicing and serving. This way it stays moist! Another nice touch is that their carne asada tacos always get topped off with a scoop of frijoles de la hoya just like they do in TJ. Finish that off with fresh guacamole, the best salsa bar in town (using at least eight different chiles) and fresh made tortillas. I recommend their tacos. The two I mentioned are excellent and worth every penny. Other items on the menu are good but use a lot of fillers, e.g., burritos, quesadillas, nachos and rice bowls. I ordered their ceviche a couple months ago and was not impressed, I think it was a new item on their menu. It was flavor less and for some reason they mixed iceberg lettuce in it. It just tasted watery and didn't have a lot of substance. snobby rant: I have only had their fish tacos once and I'll just say It was done right. I have a beach house in San Felipe so it's hard to impress me with fish tacos. they don't get five stars because their restroom has been nasty more than once. read more

I was in the area and in the mood for tacos. I picked this spot after finding it on Yelp. We knew we must have picked a good place when we drove up and it was packed - this was at about 2 in the afternoon. When you walk in there's glass between you and the kitchen, so you can see them cooking your meal. There's one woman rolling out tortilla dough and putting it on the cook right away. I also saw a large tasty-looking skewer of meat that they were carving from. I ordered three tacos for myself and four for my husband. We also got a drink, and spent about $20 on our meal. The only reason this place doesn't get five stars is that we were both still a little hungry after our meal - despite being about $2.20 apiece, the tacos are pretty small. They are very good, though. I absolutely loved the steak and the chicken. The pork was a little bit fatty, so I don't think I'll get that again. Overall, some of the best tacos I've had in a while! Next time I might go back on Taco Tuesday so I can get more for my money. I would definitely recommend this place! Note: they do charge a 50 cent fee for using a credit card, so I'd recommend bringing cash if you'd like to avoid that. read more

My family and I were craving some tacos for dinner. I yelped tacos near us and Los Tacos came up! Now I've heard good reviews about this place. I've also heard the Senor Grubby's owner is part owner of Los Tacos! Another reason you know this place must be good-we LOVE grubbys! We got tacos de tripas, lengua, cabeza, carnitas, al pastor, and chorizo. The tripas, lengua, cabeza, and chorizo WERE SO FREAKING GOOD! The al pastor was delicious. The tripas were crunchy and tasty. The lengua was soooo soft and savory. The cabeza was deliciously soft and juicy! Each taco ranges from $2.45-2.75 per taco-not bad! You can't get delicious tacos for that price at a restaurant. I forgot to mention the corn tortillas are absolutely delicious! These corn tortillas hold unlike store bought ones (gross)! They have a variety of salsas to choose from (Serrano salsa) is my fav. They even have roasted jalapeños for customers-be careful they get spicy! We will DEFINITELY be back! read more

This has probably been the worst experience I have ever had at a Mexican taco shop. First the it cost about 9 dollars for a bean cheese and rice burrito, which I could have gotten past if it was at least edible. The burrito came out and the inside of the tortilla was covered in black burnt cheese. It was also poorly wrapped and half the burrito fell out the bottom. When I asked about it they informed me that this was how all their burritos with cheese came. I asked if I could please have it remade because it's current state was not edible in the least. The girl didn't ask what burrito I had and came back with the completely wrong burrito. My husband, also got a burrito that came with cheese, and his was not burnt black. But....his carne asada was full of gristle I highly recommend not ordering anything that comes with cheese read more

Very generous sized ceviche with a huge tostada shell underneath it. Fresh and well flavored. This is right next to Brooklyn Boys pizza and by Starbucks. It's kind of a pain to go to sometimes with all the traffic since its in a small plaza right before all the huge stores like Target, Best Buy etc are. I have tried all the small tacos and they are amazing! I like that you can get your own salsa. There's about 6 or 7 maybe more different Salsas and they have other bottled hot sauces out. Other places are stingy with their sauces. They have those grilled peppers out as well which is pretty good if you can handle the spice! I go here lots for lunch! This place is hands down the best when it comes to their street tacos. I always get the al pastor tacos and it is so delicious and best part is that the tortillas are made fresh you can watch he lady make them right there. There carne asana tacos are also really really good topped with onions and cilantro is all you need, not like other Mexican restaurants that put everything in it. My family hyped this place up, a lot for me. So, the pre-existing expectations could have landed them a star shorter than had it not been there. May I say the food LOOKS absolutely scrumptious. the nachos are ridiculously big... definitely made to split. I had the diabla shrimp tacos, that were disappointingly not very spicy. We come here often and even the kids like this place. Food is great, tastes like the food we used to have in TJ. The el pastor meat is a good and as authentic as it gets. If you want to enjoy Mexican food, this is the place to go. The view of the making of the tacos are in plain view which is pretty entertaining and there's glass which prevent the smoke from getting into your face. I would always go after a long day of shopping or just being out. I would recommend this to anyone who wants Mexican food. read more

Best Mexican take out 10/10. Try their carnitas tacos or the carne asada fries! The place can be quite busy, but the staff is quick and efficient! I use the red sauce and it tasted like soap. It has no cilantro in it and I love cilantro and it doesn't taste like soap to me just the salsa tasted like soap. I might have had the weirdest experience at a taco shop in California at this location.

Everything looked good at first glance but the flavors unfortunately fell short. The asada was so very bland. Salsa is 100% necessary but be advised that the green salsa has some heat and may not be for everyone. With the al pastor costing $4.68 and the carne tacos being $5.23 each, the tacos are quite small in size. 3 stars overall and that is primarily factoring in the homemade tortillas. I could have easily eaten those tortillas plain!! I'm not sure if i would come back given all the other neighboring eateries but if i did, i'd be more inclined to try the nachos.
