I really wanted to like this place, but after my last visit this is a definite 2 for me. The lunch portion is almost laughable for over $10 given all of the other lunch deals around. My friend and I had the chicken queso. I opted to skip on the tortillas, but I realized I shouldn't have the minute the meal came. There were 2-3 bites of salad, beans, rice, and the chicken. Maybe the rice and chicken could get you to 5 bites if you made them small, but what kind of portion size is this? At $10.95 and table service, I definitely wouldn't call this cheap for a weekday lunch, so I can't justify coming back here for such little food. The quality was fine but not amazing. The dips at the beginning were one of the only perks I could find. The service was fine and the ambiance is fine, but it's not somewhere I would ever go out of my way to go to for either. Well I used to love this place and I can say, today it was horrible. I ordered tacos al carbon and it was brisket meat, and it was dry and not hot. Then they brought it out with guacamole on the plate, which I asked for none due to an allergy. He takes the plate back and they literally wiped it off but left some On there and covered it with queso. Yes, no concern for my allergy or a clean plate. The tortilla was old and dry and the queso puff was cold. I am disgusted at the way they handled this issue and tried to cover it up. Needless to say, I won't be back anytime soon. This place is okay. Tried for the first time today. Food was barely okay. Nothing to write home about. Place has weird, musty smell. Needs more ventilation. Customer service was good. Everyone was friendly. They have happy hour and full bar. I will try again as it is close to my house and it seems like a quaint neighborhood place. read more

Los Tios has become my new favorite Tex-Mex place since I re-discovered them a short time ago, following the transition of the brand to the Adair family, one of Houston's premier restaurant families - which actually occurred quite a while ago. But it had been a long time since I visited a Los Tios. In the past year, I have visited all of them except for this Meyerland location, and I am looking forward to the swanky new flagship location that is currently being built out in the Tanglewilde neighborhood of Houston. I had a bit of a difficult time finding this location so I am posting a picture of the outside which I did not find posted here yet. It is in a very long shopping strip on Beechnut. The location apparently flooded during Harvey and has only recently re-opened in the past six months or so. I ordered the number 6 on the lunch menu, which was consistent with the same item at the other locations. The service was great, the surroundings are newish, but still a bit dark for what I prefer in a restaurant setting, especially at lunch. read more

Let me just tell you Taquitos are Deli-Mex Taquitos you get at any supermarket. And th tamales were cold. The Green Sauce that I had last time was Delish......This time it was Gross. Something was left out. I had the Spinach Enchiladas. Filled with Canned Spinach...CANNED SPINACH. Uggghhhh...... The Margaritas are The Bomb. i had the Patron Margarita. Super Duper Strong. I LOVE this Los Tios! I have literally been coming here my entire life (29 years). It feels so homey and cozy to me inside. The service is good, lots of the servers have been there for a long, long time. The food is delicious. I love the queso puffs, puffy tacos, cheese enchiladas, refried beans, red & green sauces. Their margaritas are amazingly strong - the best value for your money. I can only have 1...2 and I think I would be drunk. Prices are very affordable. Good lunch menu too. Los Tios food has gotten better since we started going there years ago. I think it now can rank in the middle tier of Tex-Mex restaurants. When we started going there, the food was okay, but the prices were very reasonable. We could feed our family of four for $35 or less. Tonight it cost $66 for fajitas for two and one margherita. That is a huge amount of money for what we got. We would not pay that much at Lupe Tortillas and their food is better. Probably won't go there for quite a while because their food is not really worth the prices they are charging. Good food, but too expensive. read more

The flavors are good, but where to start. Today I had the lunch special #2. The guacamole was the smallest portion I've ever been served. Enchilada was tough. Really, I think the forgot to soften the corn tortilla before rolling it up. Thank God I had a knife. The beef taco tasted great. The shell was homemade and had a great texture and flavor. The only downside of the taco was that shell was way too wide even for my big mouth. One bite and the taco crumbled into a heap on my plate and lap. This has been my wife's family's 'go to' place for Mexican food since the 70's when it was at a different location. Took a 'new' family member there last night. Quite an experience for her since this is her first time in the U.S. The service was great, they were crowded but they set up a large table for us relatively quickly. The food was very good as always and wait time was nominal considering the crowd. One of the managers explained the history of the place to our 'newbie' and they brought her a free dessert. Yes, unless you have a sentimental connection to the place, it's not much different from many other Mexican restaurants. But every time we are here the food is very good and so is the service. And of course the pralines are grainy......it's nothing but sugar and vanilla and pecans, for Pedro's sake, and they are YUMMY!, not to mention free. read more

I have officially tried them a few times now and I am a little conflicted about the golden tacos. They are delicious, but the shell is rather bowl shaped and it makes it very difficult to eat, I usually end up going at it with a fork like a taco salad. Other than that, they are delicious. The service is friendly and polite, we never had to wait very long for service or refills. The salsa here is amazing and my husband, who is a picky eater in general, absolutely loved everything. This is one of the first places that he actually gets adventurous. I'm definitely glad that we finally had the chance to come in and eat rather than going with Uber eats due to hectic schedules. Completely uneventful and flavorless! We had high hopes due to the reviews and longevity of the business. On a Friday night there was a long wait even for take-out. Additionally, we take great pride in supporting small businesses in our neighborhood and tip very well. Having lived on both coasts and in-between, yet to find a good Mexican Food Restaurant since moving to Houston 4 years ago. We know good food, spices, and ingredients. All 3 were missing. Ordered the CHILE RELLENO 1970 which had carrots and green olives and very little ground beef. Ewe! The entire dish was watery along with the guacamole. Could not even taste any salt. If that wasn't bad enough, the queso would have been better at a $2 movie theatre. Not going on about the rest of the meal... enough said. I hate writing bad reviews, but this was just awful and ruined date night. Looks like we will be driving back to New Mexico again for our next craving. I'm not really sure how people are saying this food is good. Everything is so bland, even the rice; you might as well go to Taco Cabana or something instead. I ordered a ground beef and chicken enchilada and they were both super bland. I also ordered the golden beef taco. I actually loved the puffy shell but once again, the meat was bland. I will commend their street tacos though. Those are the only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars. The beef and chicken were both delicious but the flour tortillas could've been cooked more. Overall this is an OK place to eat. I've been eating here since I was in high school, and I started coming back here about 6 years ago when the job I had at the time was nearby. They have a lunch margarita special and it was a good place to meet with people from work. Then I stopped going again and in the last month I've been back twice. My husband and I walked over when we were at the Game Stop nearby. The best thing about Los Tios is the homemade tortillas. The last time I went was with a family group, and the food was OK. But the food isn't the best mexican in town, it tends to be overgreasy, but it's edible. My sister had a roach land on her while we were eating, and that definitely marred the experience. The service was terrible. We waited about 15 minutes for somebody to come and take our order. It was about 2 pm so not the busiest time. We had to ask three people for a refill on salsa. Finally the third person brought it to us. One of the people in our party asked for double rice and no beans with his order. It came out with single rice and teddies beans. It was sent back. Call me crazy, but I like their deluxe crispy tacos. Overall, it's not great, but for cheap gringo Mexican chow, it's alright with me.

The location is surrounded by other businesses, but this is the place to go to for your fajita cravings. The atmosphere is of those with real authentic Hispanic feeling when you walk in. There isn't a lot of decorations, but there doesn't need to be. The food here is amazing. They give you chips with salsa, and this green avocado(y) tasty appetizer free of charge. The pricing is cheaper than its competitor Escalante's. They give you so much food, it's enough to share with two. The service is amazing. If there is a wait, they will give you a buzzer, and you can walk within a mile of the restaurant to keep yourself busy. The waiters treat you with care, and notice your requests. They have specials every weeknights. I recommend getting the special plates instead of the combo plates. Not only do you get more value for your meal, it's more filling. The only reason I might be saying this is because the combo plates come with puffy questions (melted cheese inside a chip shell), and I'm not a queso person. read more

Worst value and portions I have ever experienced at a Tex-Mex restaurant. Why do they charge so much a the cheapest quality food out there? Ordered the #6 Combination Plate with the cheese enchilada, beef taco, and the cheese puff. When served the food, I was wondering where was the beans and rice that EVERY SINGLE MEXICAN RESTAURANT serves with the meal. I was informed by the waiter, an elderly gentleman that the combination plates do not come with rice and beans. How much money does it cost a restaurant to scoop a serving of beans and rice that practically cost them nothing to produce. That was what really pissed me off on the food in conjunction with the price. I got at the most 2 tortillas worth 3 cents each bulk, maybe 50 cents of ground beef, 20 cents of cheese, and 10 cents of produce and charge me almost $10 for that slop with Velveeta cheese thrown on top of it. read more

I'm not sure what she's smoking, but there's one bartender (the one with thickly painted eyebrows) who can never get it right during my lunch hour. My family and I have been coming to this location since it opened in about 1987. Before that we went to the location at Fondren and Bissonnet. I went here on 9/9/2020, and the food was TERRIBLE. The puffy cheese crisp bubble were completely stale and inedible. These are usually my favorite menu item, but this is the first time I was unable to eat this. The cheese enchiladas were good, but the cheese bubble ruined my meal. The quality has been going downhill for about the last 4 years or so. Looks like I will be stopping spending my money here. Went here today for lunch. I'm usually very sympathetic because i work in the food industry myself but it was very hard to leave a good review. Me and another man stood at the host stand for a long time waiting to be helped while servers walked past multiple times. Nobody served us when seated for another ten minutes then a guy came up and we ordered. I got a basic chalupa that came out completely soggy from the start. The meat was super greasy and sitting in a pool of oil. And we also found hair in our chips for our queso. Seems like some extreme lack of management to me. read more

We were slightly disappointed with the Family Style Fajitas. The quality was great but the quantity was not. Plenty of excellent inexpensive sides but a little skimpy on the meat, the meal was advertised as being for 6. We had 5 people and felt the amount of meat fit 4 hungry or 5 less hungry people. For $90, more meat would be great. The taste is great however. The salsa's, sides and homemade tortillas were really tasty. So just avoid the Family meals if you are hungry or don't assume 6 can have enough. But flavor/taste is terrific. read more

We left and on our way out I asked for the manager and Ivan Lopez said he sat us in an area that waiters are not available an assumed that a waiter would see us and that he was sorry .
