Nope. Won't be back. This place is pretty awful. We came here for an early dinner midweek before heading to a concert. I felt like I had crashed a 3rd grade birthday party. Over 75% of the tables had a pre-pubescent child at it. When you get this many children in one restaurant, the standards of appropriate restaurant behavior disappear. Children ran around the restaurant the whole time we were there. Our food was below average. My cheese enchilada had a tortilla the was obviously reheated and chewy. The puffy queso was good. The chicken taco had some strange meat in it and the flavor was pretty blah. My husband's soda was delivered to the table with lemon seeds at the bottom of the glass. Overall, there is no ambiance, too many ill behaved children, and lackluster food. With so many great Mexican restaurants around, I won't be back to this one. read more

What a great experience at Los Tios Meyerland. To start with, the complimentary chips and salsas were great. The chips were nice and crunchy. (I've lost count how many times I've eaten at other Mexican food restaurants, and the complimentary chips haven't been very crunchy, or worse, have been stale. Not the a good first impression when you visit a new restaurant.) But Los Tios chips are great! The salsas were awesome as well. I especially like the creamy green salsa. Once they delivered the enchiladas filled with beef al carbon, along with the rice, refried beans and pico de gallo - I performed a magic trick. I made absolutely everything disappear; well almost everything, except for the lettuce that the pico de gallo was served on. I also love the hot plate that the food was served on. I use to enjoy their food. I had a craving for Los Tios today and ordered through a food delivery service. After paying $32, my expectations are going to be high. My fajita dish have so much fatty blobs, I know this is not fajita skirt beef. The good parts of the meat taste like nothing. Idk if they have down graded their quality or what, but this was absolutely awful. Now I am mad because I am prego and I am still hungry. I cant eat this. This place has been here for 50 years and this was my first time eating there. The host was very helpful and treated me like I was a special guest. He explained the ingredients used in certain dishes and the margaritas. He gave me a free appetizer which was tasty and the food was delicious. The margaritas were on point! Los Tios has never been my go to place for Tex-Mex. I only go there to meet a friend who likes them better than me. We always order the golden tacos. We both noticed again today that the taco shell tasted burnt, overdone. The waitstaff, which is my biggest complaint after todays lunch, are horrible. They're always bad, never friendly. Our waiter came around one time early after he brought our meal, not to be seen again til we were finished eating. I had to ask for more water after eating. Came here on Saturday afternoon since I was craving Tex-Mex and hadn't been here in about 2 years. There was no wait and I looked around to see if the Covid restaurant guidelines were in place. They were:) we ordered the fajitas and wow... talk about an abundance of food. The service was top notch with our waiter coming over pretty consistently to make sure everything was ok. It was such a chill ambiance as well which made the meal more enjoyable. Red salsa: consistency was good but no real flavor Green salsa: I thought it had garlic flavor my other friends described it as ranch Queso: good consistency and not disgusting but just average Beef enchiladas: had a decent amount of meat but just so bland. My client and I pretty much made it a tradition to visit Los Tios just about every Sunday. Each time, we had exceptional service. We are grateful for the entire team. However, there is a special thank you to waitress, Elizabeth. She never misses a beat in providing our norm:-) My client's beverage of choice appears to always be on standby. She's amazing! A childhood neighborhood favorite. 20 years later and it doesn't disappoint. We had a party of 30 and ordered 12 couples fajitas. We had enough left over for 6 people. Very generous portions. The fajitas come with a side of guacamole, sour cream, and then rice and beans. They will bring as much as you need. The beef and chicken were Texas sized chunks of meat. Tender, moist, grilled to perfection. We called about 2:00 and were able to make the reservation for 30 for that night. Definitely has become my go to place for TexMex. read more

I've been to a couple of the other Los Tios locations, but never this one. As a couple of others have already noted, everything here is good but not great. I'd never mistake this place for one of the best Mexican restaurants in Houston, but for a quick Tex-Mex fix at a great price, this place probably can't be beat. Their enchiladas are good enough that my Mexican girlfriend and mother-in-law swing by regularly for them, and they also love the chips and salsa. On a recent, I went with the Laredo plate-- a combination of a beef taco, a tamal, and a cheese enchilada. I wasn't impressed with the tamal, but the other two items were worth coming back for. read more

I really don't understand how this place has only a 3 star average? I LOVE Los Tios and the Meyerland spot is my favorite. I grew up in both Houston & DFW so Tex Mex is literally mother's milk to me. Growing up we ate Tex Mex all the time and Texas, especially Houston has its fair share of excellent spots. But I mean it when I say Los Tios is my all time fav. Can you get better Fajitas @ Lupe or El Tiempo? Probably. better Margaritas at Ninfas or Picos? Sure. But to me, Los Tios does it all combined better than those guys and 20% cheaper too. The Tex Mex Dinner might be my favorite dish from anywhere ever. The queso topped taco al carbon, cheese enchilada, crispy taco with rice and beans? I'll usually polish off the entire plate, and I'm not a very big dude. My mouth is watering typing this and I just had it 2 days ago. I prefer their top shelf 'Rita's but the house ones are great and only $5 during happy hour. That's a steal, especially for the quality. Anyway. If you've never been to Los Tios, you should absolutely go. It's a gem! read more

Really 3.5 stars, with accommodating service and a Mexican village atmosphere reminiscent of decades ago (specifically, the '70s, when we grew up on Los Tios' Tex-Mex cuisine). I come here fairly often for lunch. You can still smell the new paint from the post-Harvey remodel, and they made the place a little bit brighter on the rebuild which I like better. Enchiladas are comfort food for me, and a plate here is downright comfortable. It's got the requisite red chile gravy and the melty-Velveeta that all good Tex-Mex has. Let me start by saying I was introduced to Los Tios-Beechnut in 1976 by my grandparents who were loyal guest up until their passing. I have continued to enjoy dining at Los Tios up until this past Tuesday. We typically go to Los Tios-Beechnut on average once a week and for about the last six months we have noticed and brought to management's attention, a cleanliness issue involving an infestation of gnats in the dining room. We have been told they are aware of the problem, however the problem still exist. In addition, we know and have been told by servers they are not seating people properly based on 50% occupancy. Tuesday night was the third time in recent months we have had a gnat land in our margarita. Each time there has been an apology along with a drink replacement, but on this occasion it was a little different. Because we also requested our Grand Marnier shot also be replaced since it was part of our drink order, they simply brought what appeared to be about 2 drops in a shot glass. We asked for the manager to come to our table, but instead the server brought a full size shot as she should have in the first place. At this point we felt the manager was simply trying to avoid hearing our concerns and we decided to decline her offer and approached the manager ourselves. He tried to justify the small shot replacement that was originally sent to our table which made no sense us. The simple solution would have been to replace the shot with the one we originally purchased. In addition, upon being waited on by a different server, on a different occasion, we were asked if we were Adair Rewards Members. After all these years, and all the money we have spent eating at Los Tios, we find out there is a rewards program and in fact, somehow, I already had a membership with a disappointing 100 points on my balance. With an average check of $100 per visit, I must tell you I am completely disgusted in knowing, at no time was your Rewards Program being mentioned to us; in turn we were never accumulating any points. I do not proclaim to have dined at Los Tios weekly over the past 40+ years, but I can promise you, over the last year and a half, we have easily spent several thousand dollars. It's with regret that I tell you, we have no intentions of returning to Los Tios-Beechnut. With restaurants struggling during this time, there is absolutely no room for a lack of service or cleanliness. Houston's Mexican food chooses are nearly endless. With that said, while we might consider giving Los Tios-San Felipe a try, most likely we will take our business to establishments where we know we are appreciated. read more
