Cautious warning to not come here. I just ordered chicken burrito, nachos, & a chicken taco salad. Very disappointing. Burrito was just a loose flour tortilla with barely anything in it covered up with cheese sauce and lettuce. Come for the margarita towers and tacos! Came in to eat with a group of friends, loved the decor, tons of Catrinas and other Hispanic influences throughout the restaurant. Our table host was great. Orders came out correct and fast! We had tons of chips and salsa to snack on throughout our visit. There were so many great drinks to choose from. We ending up getting a Don Julio margarita tower. WATCH FOR ROACHES Well this place was great, but the new management is terrible. I brought a friend and we had a cockroach run across our table. They took our food and everything away and said they'd give us a 30% discount, that's it. We had just started eating, so we were only about half done when she took our plates. 50% of our food taken, but we had to pay for 70%. The manager was there, didn't even bother coming over and addressing anything, and said she would only do 30%. I came here almost weekly for 4 years because I'm a local and live nearby. I know what the restaurant looks like. They lied and said "oh the roach must've come from the new wall covering we put up yesterday" that they definitely put up months ago. They had a good run. The new management sucks. I won't be returning, which sucks because I told all of my friends about this place. The last time I was there, the waiter totally forgot about me after delivering my food and I had to catch another waitress to close out. The food sucks too compared to what it used to be. My friend and I stopped by for some lunch. It's kind of a hidden spot. We were seated and our server brought out chips immediately. The salsa comes in like a small carafe instead of already poured in bowls so you can pour it yourself. I really liked that. Service was great, they checked on us regularly. They don't bring water automatically so just know you'll have to ask for it. I like the ambience in here too. Drinks: Tequila sunrise: 5/5. Tasty. It was mixed really well so it felt like it's own drink, rather than individual mixed ingredients if that makes sense. Sangria margarita: 5/5. This is a frozen drink. Well balanced. Definitely getting the flavor of both. Food: Quesabirria tacos: 4.5/5. I order these everywhere I go that has them so I've eaten a lot. Tacos are also one of my favorite foods so I have high expectations. These were delicious. The tortilla was a beautiful color, nice and crispy. The meat was suuuuper juicy, lots of flavor. Cheese was melty and there wasn't too much. My only qualm was the cheese was really creamy, almost like they mixed a melting cheese with something like Brie (not Brie though). It was a quality I didn't love but my friend got these too and really loved the creaminess so it's definitely personal preference. I would still order these again easily. Been here about 8 times or so, finally decided to let y'all know what I think of it. If you really want to enjoy the food here definitely start drinking before eating. The only thing I'll ever get from now on here is the quesa birrria, (two or three tacos filled with a good amount of shredded beef and cheese, toasted on the grill in the oil from the meat and served with a consume to dip) this dish is actually very filling and definitely worth the money. One thing 100% sure to stay clear of is the camarones al la diabla! I have honestly never had worse. They just grilled up seven shrimp and put a semi spicy salsa on top. In search of the best birria in Nashville, I found my way to Los Toritos in the gulch. The service here was quick and friendly. My server was warm and attentive. Not pushy at all. It had your classic Mexican cuisine feel; Colorful interior, authentic music, and a bunch of beer promotions. I came here strictly for the birria. When I asked the server if it was available, he gave me the option of birria quesadillas, tacos, or a burrito, I believe. I ordered the quesabirria which I had assumed would be quesadillas style, but I was brought out 3 taco style birrias. It may have been my understanding was wrong but either way I was excited to try. The tacos themselves were loaded with flavor. Super cheesy, but a little skimp on the protein, especially compared to all the other birria I've experienced. The tortillas were fried a little more than what I prefer and did reflect some of that charred taste. The consume was delicious and I ended up scooping the rice in it with my spoon as a filler between bites. That quickly depleted the sauce and I was left scooping out the bottom of the dish fishing for more. A larger helping would've been nice. I had horchata for my drink. Honestly, if a Mexican restaurant doesn't offer it, I'm going to go somewhere else. I absolutely love the sweet milky drink. I always say it taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal milk. I was excited to see how big the glass was when my waiter brought it to me. It was good but notHing to write home about. Got my personal preference, it wasn't sweet enough. Los Torito's is next level awesome!!! The atmosphere is great and comfortable, the staff was amazingly fast and friendly. The star of the show was the Carnitas with beans and rice! I've made and had a lot of pork in my life, but this was an amazing experience with the next bite better than last. Don't be fooled by the simple look of this dish, it held a special power over me. The carnitas was so good hot sauce only took away from the flavor, that's rare for pulled and grilled pork. Got the 3-meat (steak, chicken, and shrimp but I didn't want chicken) fajitas to go. Came with rice, refried beans, 3 tortillas, lettuce, pico, a really tiny scoop of guac, jalapenos, chips, salsa, and of course the meat with a bit of cheese on top and onions / peppers on the bottom. The steak was overcooked, the shrimp was good. Not much flavor for any of the food though, pretty bland. We live in TX & are very fond of TX/Mex & other Mexican food. Would not recommend at all. This food was horrendous. All 5 people tossed out the food. We had it delivered by Grub Hub & that was part of the problem. First it said it would arrive in 20 min. Then it got changed 3 times. It was over a full hour before we received the food. It was mushy, watery and had awful seasoning & taste and of course cold. Even the quesadillas for the small children were awful. Expensive and inedible. Would not ever recommend this place to anyone. I went here because of the 4 1/2 star rating, but I think 2 1/2 to 3 stars is a fair rating for this restaurant. Service was great and friendly and the food came out quickly , however, the food just isn't what I would have expected from a Mexican restaurant. I ordered the Tex Mex enchiladas while my wife ordered a couple tacos. I also ordered a margarita. Chips came out quick and we're hot and tasty, however the standard salsa they brought out was very very tomato-y (is that a word?) and bland. I asked for a spicy salsa which they brought out which was very tasty and more like what I'm used to down in Southern California. While the Tex Mex enchiladas were definitely unique as they were topped with a egg and had a unique sauce, I felt the sauce was lacking the spice and flavor I'm used to with Mexican food. My wife wasn't impressed by the tacos. She said that while the meat was cooked well, the flavor just wasn't there. As for the margarita, it tasted very syrupy and after a few sips I stopped drinking it. When a menu describes a dish as "Half a pineapple..." you don't ask questions and order it. Presentation was obviously super fun and taste was pretty good too (a tad spicy). The pineapple was filled with shrimp, chorizo, pineapple and cheese. It also came with a side plate of beans, rice, lettuce, pico, guac, sour cream and tortillas. A decent portion of food to match the $18 price tag. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I wish I caught his name because he deserves a special shout out. Found a coupon for a free cheese dip so I decided to check it out. I ordered the chicken chimichanga and the cheese enchiladas. The chimichanga was a bit softer than I'm used to but I actually really enjoyed that. The cheese enchiladas were really good but sadly didn't come with beans.
