A must try in Manteo! British pub food and outdoor seating right in the heart of Manteo. Service was friendly and food came out fast. - Scotch egg: unique and sooo savory - Pork knuckle: My husband loved this especially w this savory knuckle combined w the sweet maple & pecan sauce. I stole some of his mash and it was delicious. - Oyster and chips: your classic fried oysters and fries...good but not anything to write home about - Roanoke island iced tea: highly recommend this! They use their local Kill Devil rum. The blend of the pecan rum and passion fruit juice made the cocktail have an almost banana taste which I enjoyed. Downside is this is a touristy place so prices are hefty for what you get.

Wife and I had visited here over a year ago and sometimes you catch a server on a bad day. Instead of blasting the issues online, we worked directly with the owner online to identify the items and buy did he take the feedback to heart. He reached out and explained in great detail the actions he took to address our concerns and invited us back to prove it. Super glad we went back and his past holiday week. Our experience with our friends was superb. "Emily" was fantastic, her counterpart "MJ" was a great ambassador of the restaurant as well. Our 4 meals were the fish and chips ( fried golden and seasoned to perfection). Pulled pork sandwich perfectly smoked and juicy and two super large garden salads one with spicy buffalo chicken and one with crispy grilled chicken. Each could have been labeled as meal for 3!!! Beers were ice cold, the pickled eggs have a story all their own and the owners personal touch and kind gift card was over the top. I learned here that the owner DOES care and proves it everyday. I found my new hangout whenever I'm in Manteo NC and for sure will be back for their Halloween extravaganza! Thanks Lost Colony!!

Lost Colony Tavern is a nice spot in Manteo and we were glad we stopped in. They have a decent kids menu and our kids were happy with their meals, which isn't always the case when traveling. I enjoyed the British pub atmosphere, and it felt like a fun fit given Manteo's history as one of the original British colony locations. The draft list was solid, with choices like Smithwick's and Magners cider that you don't always see around here. While I usually lean toward an Irish pub, this place makes sense in context and has its own charm. It's a comfortable spot with good food and a unique tie-in to local history.

Definitely a fun place to have lunch! The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. Even though they were busy, we got sat quickly. The wait for food was a little long but we were kinda expecting that.

My family had another wonderful visit. We've been to quite a few restaurants and it is not often we revisit a place. But the Lost Colony Tavern has become a tradition when we come to Manteo! We started with the Bavarian pretzel. It's soft, buttery, and salty. It comes with beer cheese and two mustards. The beer cheese is a personal favorite. The bangers and mash are something we look forward to having. The sausage is so good and has the right amount of Guinness flavor. The onions are perfectly caramelized, very savory. Then it is completed with the soft, creamy mashed potatoes. We also had the fish and chips. It was hot, fresh, and enjoyed thoroughly. Not only is the food incredible, the restaurant is clean and eclectic, and the servers are friendly and attentive. I still highly recommend!

I recently stopped in here while in Manteo for the day. I actually stopped twice. The first time was to grab a beer to walk around the social district with, and then once later for food. I ordered the flounder pounder for walking around with. It was a very drinkable light beer. When we returned later to grab some food the prices were a little expensive for the dishes they were offering. I ended up just ordering a basket of fries. The waitress came over and greeted us quickly and friendly. It was getting a little busy while I was in there and it seemed pretty casual with a variety of patrons. The fries now were great. Nice and crispy on the outside and super fluffy on the inside.

My friends who have lived here for decades have never been to this place before surprisingly! We had an outstanding waitress. She even had a look of a colonial person. Food is fresh here and I didn't realize the fish was fresh but I was surprised and glad I could tell. The fries were so crispy and usually I don't go crazy for fries. I agree with others that the dining room is small and makes it tough with bigger crowds, and my local friends agree. It is too bad they can't convert their gift shop space to extra table space. The coffee cocktail didn't capture my attention but it isn't a bad choice by any means at all. They use the local Charis coffee, a cafe in walking distance from here that I worked remotely at earlier. Not sure what they can do here. Start renting out other establishments' space if they have outdoor tables and those establishments are closed? In some cases this could require crossing the street- not ideal but some thoughts. The pavilion in the center of town with the public bathrooms could make for some good extra room. Monitoring the place so alcohol doesn't leave the space could be tiresome to say the least though. A number of establishments may stay open outside regular hours because of special events and Lost Colony is no exception. They stay open until 8 PM typically but on this particular first Friday, there were local first Friday events apparently.

We managed to grab a table quickly outside and had a lovely meal. Service was fast and sitting outside on a great summer evening can't be beat! Especially nice to hear the local love music. Burgers were large and well crafted. Fish & chips was delicious as well especially the chips. Tartar sauce was on point! Bangers & Mash was average. Needs mushy peas to feel authentic!

Tried Lost Colony for the first time, but not the last. Hubby and I just had appetizers- the pretzel and the loaded chips-- I could happily drown in that beer cheese! The rest of the party had burgers, beef and lamb, and all were happy with their meal. The service was prompt and friendly. The place was pretty lively for mid afternoon. Definitely will go back.

First in flight beers, salad, other yummy food in the background.

I love the Lost Colony Tavern - partly for the really good fries and beer, but also for the friendly staff and cool historical setting.

I've been here with a party of 12 before, and we definitely waited a while, but I was impressed that they were able to accommodate a group that size. This time, I was with a party of two and we were seated pretty quickly. My one complaint about the wait system is that they announce when your table is ready, but if you're out of earshot, you'll miss it. It would be nice if they used a text, call, or buzzer system so you could walk down to the beach while you wait. Part of the pier seating is covered, but the farther you go out, the more exposed you are. We were seated near the end, so it was hot in the direct sun and very windy. But that comes with the territory, and the views make it worth it. There are also plenty of birds hoping you'll share your fries with them, which is both expected and pretty funny. We each ordered a Pain Killer. It was good at first, but it quickly became watered down, and I didn't think it was worth $10. We also got the nachos, but the price adds up quickly once you start adding toppings. Most of the menu is very à la carte. The prices seem reasonable at first, but sides and toppings can add up fast. The burgers don't come with fries, for example. We both got the West Coast Burger. It was good, but nothing particularly memorable. Service was attentive and generally friendly. Overall, Fish Heads is one of the better dining options in the area. The pier setting and views really make the experience unique. I enjoy coming here and will likely be back.

I really enjoyed each of the dish and all the beers that are on a tap is the highlight of the restaurant. There are two long tables in the middle for larger groups. The seats are surrounded by TVs and a great spot for the family. The second shift breakfast burger is delicious! The Pork belly BLT is also more refined and will please finer palates. The crispy apple jack chicken has all the ingredients for a delicious sandwich. But I would replace the 3 chicken tenders for a large chunk of chicken breast. That would make the sandwich perfect. I don't necessarily blame the restaurant for that since people are constantly coming and going through both the front door and patio, but it did affect the experience. We didn't try the beer wall this time. We came primarily for the food, and I'm glad we did. We both ordered the Angry Chicken sandwich, and it was fantastic. It had great flavor, a good level of spice, and was absolutely massive. For $19, though, it better be big! Honestly, I almost wish they offered a smaller version with just one chicken patty at a lower price. The sandwich has so many great elements, but it's almost too much food. I'd happily order a smaller version. Our server was friendly, but he was clearly spread pretty thin. It took a while to get drink refills and our check. Overall, there were a few things that could have been better, but I'd definitely come back for that chicken sandwich.
