Tucked away in a business complex in Torrance is this hidden gem. After having previously had a bad experience at another store this morning I took my kiddo here after calling to confirm they had D&D miniatures. The store is really great, many different lines of paints, all the big wargames, a good RPG section, a nice amount of gaming space and fantastic customer service. My very talkative and excited new dungeon master was given an oversized d20 and checkout and he's been rolling it since we left. Definitely the best wargaming store in all of the south bay, if not, LA proper as a whole. The store recently relocated to a business park which had google maps telling you to turn into a neighborhood to get there. Not sure when that will be fixed but overall, is a major upgrade with space to run 5+ large scale wargames on without feeling crammed. There is a lot of space and a wide selection of different games. Mike, the owner is also extremely personable and transparent; open to hosting whatever games in the shop. The people that go there as well are all extremely personable and do not give off the stereotypical elitist cold shoulder wargaming store vibe. Upon my first visit, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the Mike and all the people playing, offered a crash course demo on any game I was looking to play, and even given access to their discord group which is extremely active. The prices are all extremely fair as well with the staff more than happy to place a custom order for you if you want something that they do not have. Stopped by here with my buddy on the weekend for Free RPG Day 2020. We missed it by a day and came in on Sunday. We called first to check and the owner, Mike, was super awesome and friendly. It took us a minute to find the place but once we did, we were super happy and impressed. Mike was great and welcomed us to his place. We felt comfortable and it was great seeing the place with people playing games. It's nice to have a local game spot in the South Bay and super close to where we live. They have a good selection and great parking. The business center where it's located is empty on the weekends, so its super easy to stop by here. My buddy and I had a great time chatting about RPGs and 5e. Mike is super knowledgeable and very open to helping you out - willing to order anything you don't have. As far as game/hobby shops go, this is probably the one I've felt most comfortable in. The guys that keep it running have been very chill and helpful. Every time We've come here, we've left with something. I am new to this area so I decided to stop by some hobby stores. Lost Planet is located in the back warehouse away from the public eye. We walked in and were greeted fairly quickly. I thought that would be the extent of their hospitality but Mike got up from his lunch and started helping us. As he approached us with his epic beard, he started asking US questions and followed through with everything. Mike seems to be well versed in most of the hobby games and has a genuine interest in everything as well. He made us feel very welcome and even interacted with our daughter. Our daughter is shy with new people but she reached out towards him, probably to touch his epic beard. Very lovely owner and very accommodating. We'll definitely be coming back soon! This is a great place for those who are enthusiastic about any and all tabletop games, with a focus on the popular wargames out today. Their selection of Games Workshop stuff is great and seeing the Warhammer Fantasy/Age of Sigmar and 40k stuff on the shelves is cool. They also sell games you might not see in most other comic or game shops, the kind of stuff that is in specialized wargaming or modeling shops: Team Yankee, Bolt Action, Konflict 47. Along with Bolt Action and K47, other Warlord Games products are sold too. If you have some other products you want to find locally, it never hurts to ask if it can be ordered! Mike can't fit everything on his shelves (gotta have space for community gaming) so you can probably see what's available that he can order for you. This place is amazing! Everytime I go in, there's always something new to look at. They have the newest Warhammer 40K releases (always looking forward to seeing whenever I hear of a release online). This has fast become my favorite place to hang out. There are many tables to play a variety of games. The most GW product I've seen at any store in the area. They also have smaller companies such as Warlord games and Wyrd that they also sell and play. RPGs, card games and board games... they order anything I want and quick!
