I don't usually write reviews but Zoltan is truly excellent. He's been working on my Mazda for a few years now and I wouldn't trust anyone else. From head gaskets to brakes, he's always been upfront and clear about the work being performed as well as anything else he'd suggest. His shop is usually filled with high dollar German cars, so any other brands are probably easy for him to work on haha. My most recent visit wasn't exactly planned (clutch line blew and had to be towed), so I left my car street parked that night in hopes of getting it fixed. I go in the next morning, describe my situation to Zoltan, then he helps me push my car into his shop where he says he'll call that afternoon to give me a diagnosis. Zoltan is the BMW whisperer. He worked on my friends BMW and Mercedes, and my BMW. He is a very good mechanic and affordable. He also replaced my engine on my Infiniti when I ripped it open on a raised manhole cover. If I am going to purchase a car I will take it to him for an inspection. read more

Meat and Potatoes... If you're expecting a guy in a white lab coat, a fancy waiting room, and a cappuccino you'll be thoroughly disappointed. These are grease monkeys. Honest grease monkeys :) I've been here twice. Once when my Mom came up from Port Angeles and her water pump blew. They were nice to my Mom and charged her a fair price. They get six stars just for that. The second time they replaced a coil on my truck and tried to not charge me. I insisted they take my money. Their English is pretty good. Russian ancestry if I had to guess but I could be wrong. Bottom line there is no money spent on the building or signage. Hell, there's barely any place to park lol. Then you have to look around for the messy office with the desk piled with paperwork and the oily chairs. I'll choose these real mechanic's with their dirty nails and coveralls over the shiny showroom and incompetent sales people with their fancy manicures any day of the week. read more

This is definitely a worthy first review for me. I've depended on Yelp when I lived in San Francisco to navigate the million places to see and go there. Being new in Seattle I don't know what's good and what's not, so I like to read what other Yelp-ers have to say. I called Lotus Automotive for a quote to re-bolt my exhaust piping on my Nissan Sentra when it came loose. As I've posted before we are moving out of North Seattle and heading to the wilds of Maple Valley. I will miss our vintage apartment but I will miss Zoltan much much more. My 87 Volvo Station wagon shit the bed again just last week, This time it was the relay for the overdrive button causing my car to be permanently stuck in overdrive. I made it to Lotus and Zoltan diagnosed the problem in 2 minutes. He had to order the part but he got my car fixed by the middle of the next day. He also threw in a new corner light cover for my turn signal lights that my bf had accidentally broken and I had been putting off getting replaced. This all cost me $190 bucks (parts + labor on the relay only) and took less than 24 hours. Not only that, but when I told him we were moving and I was sad that I would now have to go to another mechanic who might screw me over he said I should call him with any problems and he'd make sure the quote was fair from any other mechanic. OMG, seriously the best mechanic ever. I would give him +10 stars if I could. Take your car to him, you will not be disappointed. **Also, Zoltan LURVES coffee so if you want to reward him bring him a 20oz triple vanilla from Diva up the road. He'll love you forever. read more

When you grow up with a mechanic for a father, you get spoiled and paranoid. I've never felt comfortable in trusting what any other mechanic has ever told me before, however Zoltan is truly the next best thing to having my Dad around the corner. He came highly recommended when I bought my 99 BMW and seriously does amazing work for a lot less than what you'd pay elsewhere. Each time a friend buys a foreign car I suggest Lotus. I have three friends that use him exclusively, and have literally never heard one complaint. He's honest, sticks to his quotes, and while he may not have the personality of Miss America - his work makes up for it. Zoltan is the best. I've simply driven on to his lot with car problems and he's always just gotten right down to business and fixed the problem. He's a straight-shooter; I've never once felt pressured to do more repairs than necessary or been conned into repairs with fear tactics. Hands Down the BEST german mechanic in town. These guys are honest and will treat you right. I've been taking my BMW here for years now and they come in at 1/2 - 3/4 of the cost of taking to the dealer with the same quality of work performed. I used to live right by their shop so this is how I found out about them. I since moved 15 miles away but still take my vehicle here. Truly couldn't be better. I discovered Zoltan via Yelp and called to see if I could swing by and have him listen to the terrible sound my '98 S70 was making and just tell me if he thought it was safe to drive. He said "sure" and right away was fine!!!! So he quickly figured out the problem (the electric wiring to one of the headlight wipers) and said it would take about 20min to disconnect it and he'd do it right then. I walked over to Diva Espresso and as suggested by Kat G - got him a 20 oz vanilla latte which he got a kick out of. I got back about 20 min. later and he was done and then replaced a brake light for free. I have really neglected my car and it has expensive needs - so our first serious date is next Wednesday...I think I've found my guy! read more

I'd say I have had better experience here. Shop has worked on my car many times and I have spent well over $5,000 in repairs over the last two years. What bothers me is that they have replaced parts that eventually broke, and upon returning come to find out that it seemed like it was done on purpose for me to pay for another replacement again. Boy, did I get lucky. I'm getting a Volvo S40 ready to sell. One of the windows didn't roll up. After getting an estimate for $400 from an auto shop, I checked Craigslist. I found that Zoltan had a used motor for the window, and was willing to install it. When he saw the car, he realized the motor was not what was needed. He spent most of his Sunday diagnosing and then fabricating the needed part for repair. It works like a dream. His price was what he had quoted me based on two hours of work plus the used part. After one of my neighbors brought it to my attention they did good work, I have used Lotus repair a couple of times now. The shop is at the top of the street from my house and it has been absolutely terrific. I have only used the shop for repairs that were short notice/emergency situation, but they have been very helpful. As an example: I went up there because we couldn't get the flap on our ACURA to open so that we could put gas in it. I called and they had me come right up. Within a few minutes they gave me an interim solution so I can get gas in my car and my wife down the road. I will certainly be back to have them fix it right (cable replacement) when time permits. read more

To be totally honest the first time I went to Lotus Automotive I wasn't sure about my choice. It is not the fanciest of places but on closer look I noticed that some of the cars there that Zoltan was working on definitely were. I am so glad I didn't judge the book by its cover. How he knows so much about so many different makes of automobiles amazes me. I have moved to Leavenworth which is about 120 miles from Zoltan's shop and I still take my cars there. I have very few things that I'm attached to. Who would have thought that it would be my mechanic. Through word of mouth my friend recommended Lotus automotive. When I got to his shop I wasn't sure. It was a small shop, the kind of place where you would think you could get taken advantage of. Wow, I was wrong. Hands down, I've never had a better experience with a mechanic. I had a water pump and timing belt replaced on my Ford Probe GT. It was half of what I was quoted at 2 other places, Not only was it inexpensive, but he did the work in record time. Fast Service, Great Price, and No add-on's. Friendly suggestions for things to look out for. He even ran a diagnostic on my Audi for a check engine light. $20 bucks, the dealerhsip wanted a $100 for the same diagnostic. Don't think. Go to this guy. You will not be disappointed. read more

They do not charge arm and leg..NO games. Very straight forward people...If they know what's going on with the car. They will tell you right off the bat unlike other shops who will charge you for even getting inside your car. Last week I got the head gasket replaced on my 1997 Subaru Legacy. Zoltan and his crew did it for about $1k less than what Smart Subaru wanted. Zoltan is the man. I just took my BMW Z4 there for a 60k inspection and oil change. I called a handful of local mechanics for price quotes on this service and Lotus Automotive was the most affordable. Compare his price quote of $220 with $517 and $368 that I got elsewhere. He pulled about a pound of leaves out of my (cabin?) air filter. My fault I suppose for parking outside. Everything else was in good condition and he didn't try to up sell me on anything. The only hiccup in the experience was I didn't get his call when my car was done. I called him 30 minutes after the estimated finish time to check in and he said he was done and had tried calling. Could have been a technical error, a typo in my phone number, poor cell reception, who knows... No harm, no foul. I'll be coming back to him for any future work I need on my car. read more
